i distinctly remember a paragraph stating that persons needed to turn to christ, not et, or something like that.
it was hilarious.
i thought at the time, "this is pathetic, acting as though a fictional character poses a threat to jesus".
I honestly never noticed the parallels to Jesus before myself.
How atrocious it would be for humans to BELIEVE that another living creature could cure the sick, communicate telepathically and be RESURRECTED.
Next thing you know there will be about 2 billion people in this world saying that nothing is possible in life except through E.T.
Wait a second, those 2 billion people are already spoken for.
They are called Christians!!!!!!! (these little emoticons should account for the reaction I will get with that comment. teehee

i am just about to start the last chapter of this book, and i thought i would ask the question, then see the responses after i have finished it.. who has read it?
(without giving away too much to those who may still read it).

Who has read it? What did you think? (without giving away too much to those who may still read it)
Brad (P.S. I will give my views later)
if so, does it affect your relationship?
is it hard to deal with?
i think that this is becoming a more common scenario in american society.
rocketman,
If you have a relationship where you both feel that the money all goes into one pot, that is fantastic. I feel the same way. My wife, however, didn't/doesn't. In 2000 she started her own business and said, "when I am making a hundred thousand a year, it is all going to be mine". ( we were already surviving so far on my sixty, so I figured no big deal)
Well, her business venture brought in $400.00 and cost us $9000.00. Suddenly she felt no obligation to make up for the money lost, even though she had previously felt that the money gained would all be hers.
Point being, that if you both have the same feelings about money/income then there are usually no problems in the good OR bad times. However, this incident of ours was the prelude to our break-up. I STILL don't feel that money should end a relationship, but she seems to.
Oh well, bluessaphire is looking pretty good, so there is always hope. ( ???)

psychological terror
question: who is accusing jehovah`s witnesses of psychological terror?.
answer: those people are no friends of jehovah`s witnesses.
Psychological terror: The fact that a "religion" can be based on the egos of a few "good" men in Brooklyn and that the rank and file give them such devotion as to allow these men to instruct them on EVERY personal and psychological need, never understanding that this is the epitome of arrogance.
I was speaking to an elder recently who had knowingly allowed my father to get away with very abusive actions. (another story) However, he stated to me that he knows one of the GB members and he is a very nice and humble man. I stated that it seems hypocritical to suggest that any human that believes they are God's voice on earth is even capable of showing humility. It is actually the exact opposite of humility.
Unfortunately, these blind men have convinced their followers otherwise.
How sad!!!!!!!
"Hurt pride" and "bad conscience" they say is the reason that people accuse them of psychological terror...... I had no pride while I was a JW, and I did have a bad conscience while I was a JW, due to not realizing how falsely arrogant I was in believing that I was a chosen one, simply by going to the kingdom hall.
My goodness, reading this Q/A item you posted certainly reminds me of how blinded even the top people in the JW faith/religion/cult are!!!!!!!!!!!
Brad .. (of the "I need to hear how lucky I am to no longer be a blind follower" class sometimes..) thanks
when i joined the jw, the brother who gave me a bible study said how nice it would be in the new system.
he described how nobody would be sick, how wars would cease, people would stop dying, and would resurrect.
he described how life would be so wonderful.
All humans are inherently selfish. There is nothing wrong with that, nor should we ever believe that anything we do is for unselfish reasons. On the other hand some of the most evil people who have lived have likely used the same argument that I just did to justify their evil acts.
The difference is all in the relativity to the rest of the people in this world.
Read mystery's points. Most of what the JW's believe leads to broken homes, broken hearts and broken lives. Individually, I would suggest, they are no more selfish than the average non-JW. As a whole, they are likely one of the most selfish religions out there. It is like the blind leading the blind. (no offense to blind people intended)
I have been shunned by my immediate family as harshly as anybody, (they would very likely not even come to my funeral, never mind anything when I am living) but I still feel for them, because they know not what they do.

I have been the sole bread winner for the last eight years, while my wife has stayed and home and raised the kids.... Lucky duck!!!!!
However, we are going through a divorce/separation right now, so very shortly, YES, she will be making more money than me....
Brad
have been using morpheus for a couple of years now, and hasn't been too bad at all, got about 400 tracks download.
since gettiing aol broadband, the diversity seems to have diminished a bit, either i'm on the wrong dsl provider or morpheus isn't as good as it used to be.
the one i was on previous (can't remember the name now) went totally pearshaped after it got served a writ for using copyrighted material.....anyway, know of any other good music file sharing sites?
I like to hold on to my money as much as the next guy, but I personally have never downloaded a song from the internet and I NEVER will.
There are different levels of stealing and to try to justify it is just plain selfish.
Based on most previous posts from scooby I am not at all surprised that he STEALS music. He tries to steal energy from everyone on this site, so why not music too.
Like I said on a previous post, I look at him as being in a more shallow level of spirituality than even JW's; he is trying to re-invent the JW religion. Can we say, "Out of the Frying Pan and into the Fire."
I hope you realize where you stand, spiritually, soon Scooby.

the negative effects of drinking beer have been ill-understood and mystified scientists for centuries.
but finally: the riddle has been solved, the clue reveiled, the darkness illuminated, thewell, you get my drift, right?
it has now been discovered that beer contains high levels of female hormones.
LMAO @ greven. Thanks for the laugh
** gives a big high five to greven (when none of the angry women are looking)**

i find something very distressing not to mention terribly sad about some of you people (and to those who are not one of these people i kindly ask to please don't fly into some "i'm so insulted!
" snit as if i'm wrongfully referring to you).
to those people i'm referring to i say: you rightfully hope for the british and u.s. military to destroy that saddam monster and its minions of mass-murdering/worshippers throughout iraq.
There is one thing in this existence(life) that it worse than being in a high control org. like the JW faith. That is: Being a separatist of the same thing. To be a separatist, you still have to hold onto the beliefs that you were taught from the org. you are now separating from, yet, you now have to try to do everything in your power to prove that your new separatist views are better than the original.
It seems that this is the sad state in which Derrick finds himself. I think that is why his posts are so damn long. He has to do a 450 degree turn with each point he is trying to make.
I, for my part, Derrick, wish to not try to refute your indidvidual topics. They are your interpretation of God. I will say though that by your previous reactions to ANYBODY that DOES dispute your interpretations, the analysis that I have proposed of you being a separatist from the JW's and the subsequent damage you are inflicting on your own psyche, makes me feel sad for you.
