Whoops, am I bad? I guess my selective hearing remembered what poor shape is heart was in and how overweight he was. I'm not an Atkins supporter.

Well, never mind....it seems they all change it to "subscribers only" when I paste it. It's about Dr. Atkins purportedly being obese at the time of his death.

I saw that news story! Atkins was 6' and 258 pounds. He died of a heart attack and docs said his heart was [obviously] in poor shape.

I am on a low carb, no sugars, no soda/alcohol, no sweets, lots of fruits, veggies, and for the first time drinking a cup of green tea a day, which totally supresses my appetite and sugar cravings. In two weeks I've lost 6 pounds.

reading simon's post about how things used to be i started thinking about how the internet has changed things.

many believe the internet and the freedom of information it contains will be the undoing of the wts.. when i was a jw, there were a few dfings but maybe one a year or even less.

people drifted away but we really didn't pay a lot of attention unless it was a close friend.. in here we see new people coming in all the time.

I started to fade in 1997, but still attended Sunday meetings and memorials.

Did the internet have anything to do with your decision to leave?

Yes, it helped me research into the cult, helped me discover COC, and talk with like-minded ex-dubs.

If you left before you got on the internet what reading did you do about the WTS or cults that helped you make your decision?

An article in the newspaper (2002) about elders being charged with sexual molestation in KH's. It floored me to read about how the society was not handling the issue. I read about Silent Lambs in the article...found Bill Bowan's phone number online and called him to thank him for being strong to speak against the WT. That initiated my research online.

What was the one most important reason that helped you decide to leave (even if the decision was made for you through a DFing).

Unloving, uncaring, cruel, mean people in every KH my family and I ever attended.

If you left and still thought it was "the truth" what helped you change your mind?

The newspaper article I mentioned above was the catalyst.

Do on-line dating services really work?

i signed up for a "yahoo personals" account a million years ago and get updates like berserk which i never read.

i never put my picture up and have never subscribed to their "expanded service" where you can actually contact the people that they match you up with.

do these things really work?

Before I became involved with someone I tried online dating a bit. Amazing how many people lie about who they are....lol and then don't expect you to notice when you finally do meet them.

That is so true! Or men that don't respect the age range you specified...I had a 55 year old contact me! (Not that there's anything wrong with 55 year olds...but at 25, that's not who I'm looking for...) I could go on and on as well with psycho idiots I've met online.
