Advice on fading needed
by wallievase inthese 2 options are before me right now-.
1. write a letter to the elders and my family, not da myself but basically saying i have too much going on in my life and am confused, so that they will stop bothering my wife and stop asking me questions all the time.
after i write the letter continue to go to the hall less and less.... 2. appease my wife.

2. Appease my wife. Go to the hall each meeting even though i dont believe, go in service 5 hours a month so overall wife wont be embarassed and questioned all the time and so they will leave me alone also.
Contributing factors- Wife and her family, all born in JW's, all "uber-in". My family 70s influx witnesses. Dad and brother are elders. Always questioning.
So far i have only been missing about 2-3 meetings a month and last month was first month i didnt report service time. Wife has been really upset by everyone asking about me and her family is really pressuring her and mine has been as well. My mother would be very disappointed.
Any advice/experience would be appreciated. Thank You

How do you mentally switch off
by joe134cd inwhen i was first introducing myself to apostasy, i sincerley believed i could play both worlds.
at the time i wasn't happy been a witness, and i didn't like the people in my congregation, but i thought i could just stumble along.
with in 18 months of visiting my first apostate site, i had walked out of the kh.. what i have a hard time getting my head around are these people who can successfully play both worlds.

I know how i do it. Every hall i read the bible throughout the entire meeting so i am not wasting my time and i am taking in the real word of God. As for other times, i try to remember that in my opinion most witnesses are captives of a concept and not bad people. Lastly i try to remember my family and how i dont want to be put in a spot where i cant talk to and deal with them

Better than God?
by wallievase ini still go to the hall for my wife's sake.
so i was reading the weekly bible reading and came across the great example of abraham.. abraham was always questioning jehovah/god- will you destroy the city if it has this many faithful ones... and this week in genesis 15- he asks what are you going to give me for an inheritance and later- how do i know these things are going to happen... i bring up this up to say- if the almighty god of the universe doesnt expect unquestioning obedience and blind faith, how does the gb or elders?
are they thinking they are above questions when god doesnt consider himself above questioning?

Just something to think about.

Witnesses: Why The 1/19/14 WT Lesson Is Dangerous
by Apognophos intoday's watchtower lesson touched on the history of hezekiah's reign, and then made a surprising modern-day application.
having used my time before the meeting to research the underlying material instead of highlighting my magazine, i personally found this to be an upsetting study, and decided to put this warning here in the hopes that some active witnesses read it.. the most important thing i want to say to you is that the actual flow of events in this bible account were severely misrepresented, and that there are some disturbing implications in the distortions that were made.
1. hezekiah's father ahaz makes himself a vassal to assyria out of fear of their overwhelming might (2 kings 16:7, 8).. 2. upon becoming king, hezekiah rebels against assyria (2 kings 18:7).

Why the 2014 yearbook is the most hypocritical book out now.
by wallievase inthe supposed reason the yearbook is published is to encourage the friends with experiences and seeing growth by numbers.
if that is the case, why not emphasize that more people than ever are partaking at the memorial showing more people supposedly being accepted to heaven which should be great news?

Witness Hypocrisy
by wallievase inif you follow the bible and the bible says to love all, how in the convention letter about special needs can a person be disqualified from receiving help if they arent in good standing?
what does that have to do with attending a convention?.
you are supposedly following the 1st century model- why dont the c.o.s work like paul did?.

How do you have the right to invent questions someone has to answer before they can be baptized, along with a million other opinions put across as facts- blood fractions, porn, masturbation, oral sex, birthdays, etc?

Finished Crisis of Conscience Recently
by wallievase inwell i finally got around to finishing crisis of conscience.
2 things stood out to me most.. 1. the fact that the gb can question beliefs and noone else can.. 2. strangly the most disturbing fact- its a small one- but actually made the biggest impression on me out of the whole book-.
the fact that they agreed to send him a copy of his meeting tapes and then refused and admitted in writing that they lied.. obviously there was much more that i got from it and i do find franz situation unique in that he had a whole support system outside of the "truth" and most today including myself have nothing- if i leave my wife hates me, my family wont talk to me, etc- it doesnt provide any solution for that scenario.. any thoughts on the above points- let me know.

disfellowshipping untruths
by wallievase inif the whole disfellowshipping arrangement is from the bible, where are the scriptures that say you can appeal decisions or that if you are reproved what 'privileges' can be taken away?
or what about the fact that any offense they want can be lumped under uncleanness and used to kick you out?.

Oh and I almost forgot the 'necessary business' clause not being in their also
