I replied to one of his post. Unfortunately i read it the wrong way - I thought he was supporting DFing and I got pretty upset. Minmus corrected me and I apologized.
Hope he has forgiven me. -

Chevy, I agree with Nina. Call her and talk WITH her, tell her you want to know about your big sister. Get to know her. You said you have only talked to her twice in your life? I'm not trying to be mean - but have you been "shunning" her as well. You are able to go to your parents house, she is completely cut off from everyone.
If your sister is 48 and she had moved out before you were born then you are probably in your late 20's or early 30's. So you are still going 100mph. I was the same way. But now I am slowing down, I am over 40 now and it isn't so important now to go 100mph. I don't think it has anything to do with "Over the Hill at 40...50...60" I'm not a "broken down old woman" I am still learning, now I am learning to enjoy what I have, my family etc... It isn't that I didn't love them when I was 25 - 35 yrs. old, it was a fast paced love. We were always doing and going.... Now, I am enjoying them more at a slower pace. We don't have to go to every game everyone else goes to, every movie, every picnic, party..... We can spend a night playing cards as a family, eating out on the back porch, etc.... Your sister is a few years older than I am, but the principal is probably still the same. She is slowing down a little, thinking more of what has passed, realizing that we are not immortal. And being afraid. This is hypothetical, I don't know your sister. But she may just be feeling that in the end that all you have is family. Does she have children? Husband?
Get to know her. Take the time. -

Help! Spouse thinks JW religion the most logical
by bittersweet inmy husband and i were discussing what makes some people become jw's last night.
i was saying that if i hadn't grown up in it, i would have never been drawn to it at all.
i'm not a very spiritual person.

Bittersweet -
I had to order CofC, since i have finally got it, it is very hard to put down. I have only ready about 100 pages of it and have already learned so much.
I try to see the JW side - even tho my father is now dead - i can see him saying that it is one sided by a man that got mad at Jehovah. Some will not realize it for what it is.
But I have become so absorbed in it that I have just been glancing over the forum for the past week or so.
It is a great book. If someone would do the research provided in the book they will see that what Franz says is true. But getting someone to do the research may be a problem.
The "founder of JW's" was an X-Presbyterian and X-Congregational Church member. He decided to create his own religion - "the Bible Student", later known as JW's. TC Russells wife left him - was she disfellowshipped? No. The GB did not come into effect until 1976! even tho the Watchtower had been printing that they had been leading the organization.
I know that a lot of people already know this info. But I am absolutely dumb-founded with all that I am reading. It is incredible!
Whether your husband reads it or not, I highly recommend that you do. You will be very surprised at what you learn. -

It's my birthday, I am mourning my lost childhood.
by aojumper ini am so angry right now, so hurt that my family allowed my brain to be washed and hung out to dry, and then have the nerve to tell me i am on the wrong path.
i wonder how do people let others do this to them?!
i wish i had kept the strength that i remember i had as a very young child and told them all to go to hell!

Happy Birthday (late) K -
I had my 1st Birthday party, just as Gopher did! last year when I turned 40! Funny, my first birthday is when everyone gives you "over the hill" cards. Oh well, it was still great fun.
My husband gave me a surprise party. When it was over and we came back home he said "Thank God!!!" I ask him why. He said "I have never intentionally lied to you about anything, I have had to lie to you these past few weeks trying to keep this a surprise; It was driving me CRAZY!" I think that was the best present of all.
If you are concerned about your JW family members being offended about a "Birthday" card; send them one that tells them that they are wonderful, there are a lot out there. If it happens to fall around their birthday....... they will know the real reason for it.
I will envy the type of B-Day parties you give your kids. They will probably be better than Christmas for them! -

Jehovah's Witnesses Feel Superior To Others. What About EX-JW's???
by minimus ineveryone knows the smugness that jw's have.
"everyone is going to die except us because we only have the truth.
" do you think that ex-witnesses continue this same smugness once they get out and realize what really is the truth?
-
Mystery
I didn't feel superior. I always felt unworthy. I could never do enough.
I could never get over the "fact" that everyone was going to die except "us". As a very young girl I decided in my mind that "we were going to live forever on earth" and all the other people that believed they were going to heaven or hell would go, but just be in a different place than us. I could not go along with this notion. -

What Do The English & Australians Think Of Americans On This Board???
by minimus init seems to me that this board's force comes mainly from our english and aussie friends.
i've read comments that some have gotten annoyed that the society and gb seem to only stress the "american" english in their style of writing.
i'm just curious as to what you think of your american brethren.
