JW Family...UPDATE! Please advise!
by Ghost of Esmeralda inmy ex husband just told me that he will continue to facilitate visitation between my child and my jw family who is shunning me (see my other thread "i didn't think they could find another way to hurt me but...") he says i'm the one with the problem and that i should be "ashamed of myself".
it's not like i thought he'd cooperate, but for him to stand there and tell me that he will allow my sister full access to my child and there's not a damn thing i can do (and probably, legally, that's right) makes my blood boil.
makes me just want to swallow every fricking pill in the house.

Ghost - my sons were 3 & 4 when I left my husband (not a JW). He has played mind games, made promises, anything to take them mentally away from me. My sons have never heard me anything "bad" about their father to them.
They are 13 & 14 now. Two years ago they decided to stay at home with me for the holidays (they typically fly to his house Christmas and summers). Last year they decided to stay with me for the holidays. This summer they are staying with me for the summer.
Meaning - they don't WANT to see their father much at all anymore.
He pushed them away by downgrading me. He ruined any type of relationship they had by blaming everything on me. I showed them love and caring. (OH yes - I got really upset at times. Screaming and yelling and telling him what a sorry SOB he was! But - the boys didn't hear me. I would sit in the car and tell/yell/scream at him of how he only cared about himself and hurting me. I would go way back in the back yard. Anywhere that I knew the boys would not hear me.)
Regardless of what you do with your sister and X; just always remember that kids don't forget. My 14 yr old still remembers things his father said to him about me and has now ask me about it. Your daugher, I believe you said in your previous thread, is 7. Just let her see your love. Fake your emotions if you have to. Go out and have a BIG HUGE banana split when you feel your worse; the ice cream and your daughter will make you feel better.
Just don't make the mistake my X made; she will grow up to be a beautiful, smart lady that knows her mom's love is unconditional; her aunt and fathers isn't.
Wishing you only the best. -

"You're not that bright, are you?"
by berylblue inthat's what a co-worker said to me today.
now, i admit that i'm in a benzodiazapine withdrawal induced daze all of the time (did more research on this and it's quite possibly going to last another half a year or more...one person, who stopped klonopin 18 months ago described it as "always feeling as though i am just coming off an acid trip", which i don't know about but i can imagine), but i thought this was kind of mean.. i miss my daughters; they are never going to speak to me again, i feel so isolated here, i'm ashamed of the entire benzo withdrawal thing, ashamed that i can't hold a real job, just really, really down.. al stewart, as always, said it much better than i ever could:.
"well sometimes it seems impossible that the game could get that rough.

Was Jesus Schizophrenic?
by StinkyPantz inschizophrenia's onset or manifestation usually occurs anywhere between late teens until early thirties/sometimes forties.
the bible tells us very little about jesus' childhood but it gives us the impression that he did not know that he was "god" or "god's" son.
when he was in his early thirties, he was baptised and it was then that he saw the truth.

It is an interesting theory. I do believe in Jesus and the Bible. The questions was a theory; not a statement.
DJ - Instead of brow beating StinkyPantz, simply answer the question or skip to the next thread. Not everyone on this board was offended by the question.
To answer it; in my opinion, No Jesus wasn't a schizophrenic. Do I have proof? No. It is a theory. Each of us have our own beliefs now. Not "the only way is the JW way."
Do I feel any different about SP bringing this up? No. She made all of us think about it, even for a split second.
Actually the title of the thread made me laugh. I don't think he was, but I may be..... I wasn't even going to read it until I read your apology thread. And after reading it I see no reason for you to apologize. -

Todays View on Df'ing/Shunning
by Mystery ingrowing up i remember very restricted views on df'ed members.
then the org was a little more lenient regarding shunning family members etc... .
does anyone know what the view are today?

Thank's guys.
This started about a year ago. Until then, they would call and talk to the boys etc... I just thought it odd that both of them stopped calling about the same time. I figured it was a "new light" the society had "turned on" again.
Just wondering.... -

How do they love the 'unbelievers'? Worship Book (chap 2)
by ozziepost inat the last district convention, the book "worship the only true god" was released intended to be used along with the "knowledge" book on home bible studies.
both books are to be studied before baptism.
so, what are the 'new recruits' learning?

Maverick - your points are well taken.
It is basically a word association game:
Worldly = everyone not a JW.
Faithful Witnesses = Everyone fully serving "their time"
Df'ed = shunning
DF'ed but reinstated = never really being allowed back in
Government Officials = Satan’s allies
False Religions = Everyone but "ME" (JW's)
Love = "If you......." then I will love you.
First word that comes to your mind (my mind)
Cat - Dog
Stop - Go
Teenager - "Can i bury them in the back yard somewhere that no one would find them?"
If you are programmed to have a definite response to a word regardless of wanting to stop. Every time I hear the word worldly I still think of the JW definition.
Just my opinion. -

What is funny, is they just don't get it!
by Sprocket ini wanted to pass on a recent experience i had.
my mother passed away a few months ago.
the funeral was poised to be a sensitive issue since, when i left the truth 4 years ago, none of my children (all adults and still active in their faith) have spoken to me.

I am sorry to hear about your son and daughters.
And about your mother passing away.
I don't believe real love is even in JW's vocabulary. The sad part is that I am sure I will be treated the same way if/when I am DF'd. My dad was an elder, his love was always conditional. I am glad you got out. -

Does anyone know what the view are today? The reason I ask is because my mother used to call me a few times a month, but now if I ever hear from her, it is when I call her. When I call, she talks, literaly, on the phone for hours! But she doesn't call me any more. My sister is basically the same way. Neither one of them even ask me about the meetings or Memorial any longer. They know that I am a "lost sheep" and will not return.
I'm not DF'ed; but have been "inactive" for around 20 years.
Is there any "new light" on treating inactive or DF'ed members? Or is it back to the very restrictive phase again? -

Under what circumstances would u or did u shun?
by wednesday inwe talk a lot about df and shunning ,and our hatred for these practices.
thinking back on your congregation, were there people that u felt deserved to be shunned?
under what circumstances would u have "marked" an individual?

When I was reinstated I was never really accepted back. I tried, really tried but the parents wouldn't let their kids hang out with me because I had been DF'ed. There are no second chances at being a JW.
(And I was even an elders daughter. You know the kids that were suppose to get all the breaks.) -

A Hard Day
by DJ intoday was a hard day for me.
i have been 'allowed' to have contact with my family because of my dad's deteriorating condition.
he was diagnosed 2 years ago with brain tumors.

I don't know what to say...
I am so sorry. Your love for your dad is unconditional and for your family. I wish JW's were the way they profess to be. Unfortunately their attitude is "it is US or THEM" and we know who THEM are. They will never know peace. It is really sad.
