What helped me when I left was Beyond Jehovah's Witnesses, that site rules!!! Also Doc Bob's homepage is pretty good just due to the humor inlaid in the site. It has a good natured feel to it instead of the usual bitter stuff. Finally I guess my best advice is that if you're happier now than you were before who's to say you haven't found the right path.

Did being a JW teach your children to lie?
by Strawberryfieldsforever inwhen i was young and in school, i would often lie to questions my friends asked me.
things like "what did you get for christmas" or "are you comming to the choir concert tonight" or "why can't you join track" or "why don't you eat our birthday treats".
the list is endless.

Oh My God, I was the biggest liar on the planet. I lied about everything. I had a unique situation though, my mother was a witness and my father was vehimently opposed. So I lied to my father about how I never did anything witness related and lied to my mom about how much I wanted to be a witness. I would go to christmases at my fathers then lie to the congregation about how I didn't open any presents, then I'd lie to my father about how I never talked to any of the witness kids. At school I would lie about school activities and why I couldn't be involved, if I got roped into something I'd lie about why I was after school (getting additional help). Man, I was slippier than Bill Clinton ever was, I successfully lead a double life until I decided I didn't need to lie about everything, so I came clean to all of my friends. That's a different story though.

Yeah I do the pm thing but some people don't care about anonymity. If he wishes to remain anonymous I completely understand and apologize.

Which One Lie Hurt You The Most About Jehovahs Witnesses?
by shamus inwhich one teaching really hurt you when you found out that it was not true?
my number one thing is finding out that the name "jehovah" was not in the bible like it was in the new world translation (tm).
christians did not call god "jehover" "jehovah" or by his first name, no more than you would call your father by his first name when you were a child.

I remember reading some Judiciary Hearings online and thinking how stupid they were and how much it was like the Salem Witch Trials. I kept picturing my friends that were disfellowshipped going through this and I can honestly say that I wasn't angry, I didn't feel betrayed it just hurt and I didn't know how to stop it.
Other quick notes of things that hurt me was the Society letter to Hitler asking that JW's not be taken to concentration camps. For the most part I understood that, but when the letter went into anti-semetic rhetoric I was appauled.
Charles T. Russell being tried as a child molester.
Some of the personal expiriences I've read have made me cry.
Lastly the entire Silent Lambs website makes me think I was in the wrong orginization, it makes me want to do more but it also just makes me sad for the victims.

So now that I'm on break I'm going to relate my demon story, now this didn't happen to me it supposedly happened to my mother. Eh, she seems to believe it so who am I to argue :) My mother accompanied another sister to a bible study. When they got there apparently both of them had an uneasy feeling as if not to go inside, well of course the lady invited them in. The story changes but she tells me now that I was there as well (I was all of 5 years old). She already had three glasses of orange juice poured out and one of them was in a small glass. She offered them to us and I declined, I had asthma when I was a child and the medication I was on caused me to have an ulcer, still to this day Orange juice gives me a wicked bad stomach ache. I went off and played in the woman's house. While my mother and the other sister were studying with the woman everytime they would go to get their bags which were at their feet they would be across the room. Now this didn't give them a red flag, they would just march across the room and grab their bags again to which they would put them down and sure enough they would go to get them and they'd be across the room again.
So that night my mom is sleeping and she wakes up to someone choking her, she can't see the person and it's strong. Somehow she gets the strength to mutter the word "Jehovah" and the choking ceases. A similar problem happened to the other sister except she was thrown from her bed.
Another story I heard was that a man was studying with a person when a Demon appeared as an apperation and told him Never to come back that this person was his and could not be turned. The man undeterred contimplated his situation for a week and decided the Jehovah was much more powerful than the demons and after all he came in the name of Jehovah, he went to the house again and was struck dead in the middle of the driveway.
Now the thing about the first story that makes me laugh is that I was in the other room in my house while the attack was going on, the demon didn't try to attack me, just my mother. Was it because of the orange juice or was it because the demon knew I'd leave of my own valition. Or maybe it was the swearing in school, Satan told him "Oh leave the kid be, he's a cool guy, he likes violence and swears like a trooper, he has a long day of denying he's a Jehovah's Witness in school tomorrow just let him get his beauty sleep. The Mother on the other hand has to go."
Just a little levity for the situation

They hate it even more when they don't care about you and you're no added value to the congregation yet you show up every meeting. Fun fun fun
