their website provides snippets on progress in a section called fast facts-worldwide...but for all the pizzaz, it's outdated.
they give the worldwide memorial attendance for last year (19,241,252) - which was less than in 2011, but do not tell us the current year's worldwide attendance - even though it was almost 2 months ago.
doesn't that make the snippets slow facts-worldwide?

i took up cycing a couple of months ago just to get fitter and lose a bit of excess weight.. i bought a second-hand hybrid bike (weighs only slightly less than a truck) and fitted road tyres.
four or five times a week i will go for a ride after work for an hour or so.
i am fortunate enough to live in rural north england surrounded by limitless quiet roads.
The moment I opened this thread I had this tune in my head. Ah, the power of suggestion.

I'm also a novice spinner. I spent $750 on a nice bike last December and outfitted it for commuting to work. (headlight, taillight, pannier). I rode it around the neighborhood exactly one time and then the weather got too cold. But I'm up and running on it now. I start out at 4am and travel 45 mins to the gym, workout for an hour and then another 10 mins to work. After 9 hours doing sometimes hard, physical work, I ride an hour home.
Going home is mostly uphill and that's when the cuss words leak out.
NOTE TO SELF: What the hell were you thinking?
the current jehovah's witnesses official child abuse handling procedure letter to all bodies of elders (october 1, 2012) has been placed into public domain by the australian (victoria) government "inquiry into the handling of child abuse by religious oganisations".. official government web site link to letter:.
http://www.parliament.vic.gov.au/images/stories/committees/fcdc/inquiries/57th/child_abuse_inquiry/submissions/steven_unthank_supp_a_appendix_1.pdf.
short link:.
Curious... does the government website make any comments about the letter? How do they introduce it?
The link to the letter is fine but is there a link to the location of its post within the site?
its unbelievable to me that one verse in the bible blows up the entire jw dogma and its amazing to me that with all this bible reading we jw's did we missed it.
even faders and people who quit for many reasons missed it.
what verse am i talking about it verse 9 of chapter 5 of revelations.
I dunno. Rev. 7:9 talks about a great crowd that cannot be numbered. That's sounds different than a group of 144,000 (figurative or not) to serve as kings.
I'm not suggesting for a moment that I agree with the JW spin on this. Maybe my thinking is still being influenced by a life of indoctrination. But when I read these scriptures I see two different groups. So we all go to heaven to do our heavenly things but only a few are selected to serve with Christ. Maybe.
I dunno. Anymore, this stuff just gives me a headache.
"Sorry Watchtower. I can't make my agreed upon donation anymore because I got fired for shunning an apostate at work and I couldn't do anything about it because I'm not a manager because I never went to school because I pioneered because the end is so close."
Good job Quelly!
my active jw wife has gone to all meetings, assemblies, memorials, and service groups by herself after i faded off the radar about 5 years ago.
i asked her this past saturday as she prepared to join another sister from the kh for the service group regarding, voluntary donations.
i inquired if publishers still mention this to the householder when placing literature.
I never once mentioned the word donation at to a householder. Occasionally I would hear someone mention it during a demo on stage but never, not once did I hear anyone use it at the door. I was always reluctant to bring up money, especially when I knew most people taking the magazines were just being polite and had no real interest in them. They just wanted me off the front stoop so they could go back to Oprah.
They would have been better off writing me a big fat check for them because now they are a RETUUUUUURN VIIIIIISIIIIIIT!
... will they destroy all great pieces of religious art?.
just finished watching monuments men.
great movie!
Blondie: I heard elders say that Beethoven, Picasso, Shakespeare might be resurrected but they would have to learn what they could compose, paint, write according to scriptural (WTS) standards.
Good lord! How do you write a symphony according to scriptural standards?
"NO, Ludwig! You cannot transition from a major 7th to a diminished 5th in the second measure. That is SO gay! It will summon the demons!"

Just finished watching Monuments Men. Great movie! Hitler’s art seizure during WW2 got me to wondering what the Watchtower org would do with great pieces of religious art if they were ever given the opportunity. Leonardo Da Vinci's The Last Supper , Michelangelo’s Madonna of Bruges , Hubert and Jan van Eyck's Ghent Altarpiece ... would they all be destroyed in the name of Watchtower purity, given the art's reprehensible connection to "false religion"?
greetings, my aging friends!
before asking you this question, i tried to do some research on the thought that 'hard work never killed anyone,' but, man, can it cripple you!
what i wanted to figure out is something better than you're getting older and tireder.. many of us have done hard physical labor most of our lives and see no prospect of retirement.
Regular exercise is the best way to ease many "growing old" problems unless you have a specific injury or illness. Hard work wears us down so we don't feel like expending the energy to go for a walk (or run) or even to the gym to do some light resistance training.
But if you can find the energy to get started go to a gym and have a personal trainer put you on a program that fits YOUR abilities. The important thing is to keep our aging bodies moving - but doing it in a way that will not irritate old hips and elbows. Proper form is vital, thus the need for a trainer for most of us.
The old adage, "You have to expend energy to get energy." It certainly has proven true for me. I have taken to bicycle commuting to and from work. Getting there revs me up for the day. Coming home makes me cuss a little and I am totally wasted by the end of the day but I sure do sleep well. Following morning I am charged and ready to go.
Consider an exercise program.
my congregation got a reminder today to start donating money.
elder said that after the letter on the new donation arrangement was read, the contributions for that fund went from the average (i believe it was $500 or so) to $0.
after that reminder, cash was put into those boxes.
