  seat belt laws !!!!!!! argh!!!!

  just wondering how many people here feel that the seat belt law is mandatory for safe motoring.

  i can't stand this law myself as if you only forget to put one on the police are happy to pull you over and detain you and write you a ticket.

  this is one of those things that i think if there were a public vote over, it would not exist .

  I know its safer to wear those damned things - but I hate it.
  Its painful in my neck and oncomfortable - so I have a "pincher" on my belt to prevent irritation on my skin - (and sometimes I just trew the belt over my knees and nobody can see that's its not fixed).
  
  Going on the highway - I'm wearing the belt and little children must be wearing a belt too - nobody is allowed to put others in danger.
  
  But in my opinion the use of belts should be free for each (adult) person.

  What Would A Jehovah's Witness Romance Novel Be Like?

  i was reading in the religion page of the newspaper today that the mormons are enjoying romance novels in which descriptions of the characters' sex lives are limited to little more the first kiss--- that could happen after they are engaged to be married........any ideas of what a jw romance novel might be like?

  Yesterday evening when I went home, my brother, my sister in law and my nieces kissed me goodby.
  
  But I guess that you did'nt mean this kind of kissing.

  Do you like cops?

  i know many people who don't like cops and even give them all kinds of names.

  some may be nice, but many think they are superior to the ordinary citizen.

  i see so many doing radar on bottom of hills where automatically you will go over the speed limit.

  My father was one (50 years ago) and I loved him.
  My daughters friend is kind of a cop and I do like him.

  Did Any Of You Ever Believe In The Explanations Of JW Prophecy?

  as a born and raised jw, i was taught that not only did we have the truth but we also had the keys to understanding of bible prophecy.

  i was able to explain the gentile times timetable, the reason for 1914,etc.

  but there came a time when i really came to appreciate that i had no real foundation for these "truths".

  Not really, but a lot was not important for me.
  "That the end is coming soon" is in the Bible too, and mankind is waiting for "the end" for more then 2000 years now. I suspect that it won't come during my lifetime.
  What is more, there is written that nobody knows the time or the hour, so why should we expect it in a certain period.
  + I was always irritated when old prophecy's gained a new explanation for this time.

  I did, removed his name from the addresslist and forgot it , about 8 years ago when he visited my mother with the local elders.
  
  I did not "like" him, found him pompous - I remember that I e-mailed an elder with whom we were "friends" that we got a visit from a "future king". (I was'nt babtised those days).
  and got as an answer that this man was so "friendly and meek" and I was thinking "slimy"
  
  They told me he was from Bethel - during his visit he was not talking about being inspired or anything like that - just how wonderful my mother was living then (and that was the reason why that elder took him with him to visit my mother: not an ordinary sheep - one that might be worth to be shaven)

  Today's policy on being DF'ed

  would someone be so kind as to catch me up on the current disfellowship policy?

  how exactly are the rank and file being instructed to treat family members who are df'ed?

  Last I heard about (8 months ago) was that I am to seriously let my daughter know that I disapprove with her life and ideas.
  Officially we are living in the same house, but in fact in separate houses.
  I am "allowed" to speak with her but "they" expected me to ignore her most of the time.
  
  No need to tell you that I just do what I want, visiting her, eating with her (out of the door) generally everything "they" don't want me to do so. But they also know that they can't stop me.
  
  One time we were together in a restaurant. I was greeted with enthusiasm and she was ignored - first I did'nt noticed - later I told him, when he saw me and my daughter together, when he was not polite enough to say hallo to her, he has to ignore me too. ( he blushed)
  
  I don't know if that was helpful, but the last time we visited (together) a flower-shop owned by a JW whose wive does no longer attent meetings (due to the shunning of her DF-ed parents) and both - he and she and their daughters -all JW's - just normally talked to Viv.
