i've always been curious as to the reasons why only "the anointed" were permitted to partake of the emblems at the memorial.
we all know that the wtbts says the "other sheep" are the non-anointed christians who merely observe the memorial (by the way, by "other sheep" jesus was talking about the gentiles that would become part of the new covenant; he wasn't referring to some strange class of non-anointed christians).
they've often compared the situation to the foreigners in the congregation of israel who were not permitted to observe the passover (see exodus 12:38, 43 -- they draw this correlation because the memorial is the replacement for the passover observance).
I'm one of the annointed, and I'm pissed off at the congregation for serving me cheap wine and crackers without cheese. I've also made JW jokes at work, and in most cases, they elicit lots of laughter. Nevertheless, I don't think this sort of conduct is wise. Many companies have strict policies that could be violated by making a negative comment about anyone's religion. Additionally, such conduct could potentially form part of the facts supporting a hostile work environment lawsuit.
It is my opinion that your workplace friend is not a devout JW but is a person with a propensity to get involved in legal action. I would suggest that you be very careful in your future dealings with this person.
