  my mother has been sick for a couple of months and undergoing a battery of tests, she is a jw.

  we live 3000 miles apart.

  well she just called and informed me that she had just received some bad news from her doctor this afternoon.

  If her hemoglobin level is down to a 4, it's likely to affect her mentally as well as physically. I'd get over there right away, and, outside your mother's presence, make sure those JWs understand that there will be severe consequences for them if they interfere with you in doing what is right for your mother (legal consequences).

  Next, I'd ask your mother where in the bible that it says that certain small amounts of blood transfusions are ok, while other larger transfusions are prohibited. The JWs are ok with organ transplants, but not blood transfusions. There is no way to excise all the blood from a transplanted organ; hence, the recipient of an organ transplant is getting a blood transfusion, even if the amount of blood is slight. The JWs are totally inconsistent in their approach to this issue; maybe seeing that will help your mother understand.

  I hope the guy saved a garden hose to hook up to his tailpipe and insert in a window while sitting in the car in the garage with the engine running. It causes less mess, and he'll surely want to kill himself after he feels the new pain in his life attributable to being mentally enslaved by a cult that values miserable living and communist ideals.

  This is an excellent illustration of a fruitful marketing tactic utilized by the JW cult; hit on folks when they are experiencing some sort of life crisis. That's when they're most vulnerable and easier to manipulate. Their Watchtower horseshit fails on anyone who has their head on straight.

  May the watchtower adorn the top of the excrement pile in your nearest outhouse. That'll make it available for fresh poop and pee to wash it down to the bottom of the sewage tank.

  I'd rather have her at my door than a JW preaching armageddon and no premarital sex. I'd buy her cookies, but I wouldn't take the Watchtower or the Awake or any other WTBTS excrement peddled by the mentally and/or physically enslaved.

  BTW, the new topics are lame. Get back to sex - you have my permission and encouragement!

  here in the uk, blair seems set to support bush in hitting iraq but there is not wholesale support in the uk.

  One thing is certain, Sharon learned a lot from Hitler, and now is working hard to emulate him in every detail. Sharon is a war criminal who should be tried in the Hague. I'm disgusted that part of my tax dollars are going to pay for weapons used by Sharon's forces in committing atrocities. Isreal is going to find itself isolated in the civilized world if it doesn't learn the lessons of history.

  Simon,

  That's hilarious, because I can remember doing the same thing (making words out of the watchtower)! I guess it's a human response to boredom. However, I also used to doodle in my publications, and my bible had anatomically correct dinosaurs in the inside covers representing the male and female genders. In later years, I began pasting nudie pictures inside the publications so that my parents would think I was studying the "Truth" when instead I was checking out Ms. April!

  I guess it's rather clear that my biggest gripe with the Witnesses relates to the horrific manner in which the organization encourages it faithful to raise their children. Exploitation and abuse are encouraged by the teachings of the JWs, resulting in severe emotional distress for defenseless children. It is my hope that some day legislation will be enacted that prohibits the use of child labor for the benefit of any religious organization.

  You Know's god is certainly not weak. How else could you explain its ability to exploit children by encouraging their parents to require them to engage in marketing activities on behalf of the JW organization?

  You Know, I was one of those children who was forced by his parents to engage in marketing activites on behalf of the Jehovah's Witnesses. My parents were encouraged to do this by the teachings of your organization. I never had any faith in your organization's teachings, but carried out the marketing activities under duress. I wasn't paid for my marketing services.

  I left your cult as soon as I could (age 14), but paid the price. I was never baptized as it would have taken more than a beating to get me to devote my life to your organization.

  The Jehovah's Witnesses may not legally owe me compensation for the unjust enrichment they received at my expense, but they certainly have a moral debt to pay in this regard. Hopefully, some day the organization will wise up to the vast amount of bad feelings the exploitation of children they encourage is causing, and put out some more of that "new light" in the form of admonition to its members regarding this despicable practice.

  I pity the children who are currently subjected to this exploitation and despise those who facilitate it.

  BEATING KIDS IN THE WASHROOM

  Please be aware that the act of disciplining children - whether beatings, whippings, no food, tied to the bed, rapings.......all have been going on for .....well, since recorded history. Naturally, including Bible history also.

  Rape and murder have also occurred throughout history, but that does not excuse these acts. Child abuse is unacceptable, regardless of past history.

  While it's true that folks in other religions also abuse children, I know of no mainstream religion where abuse is not only condoned, but encouraged. Other religions provide child-care facilities for young children who cannot sit still during worship, but JWs provide beatings for kids with short attention spans. Additionally, JWs encourage the exploitation of children via forced marketing activities on behalf of their cult. Don't try to minimize the abuse suffered by children at the hands of JWs.
