Do you miss being part of something big?
by sleepy in.
at one time i was one of "gods chosen people", part of a special group of people who had exclusive access to hidden truths about the earth and its people.. now of cource i realise i'm just like everyone else and all the puzzles are still there.. kind of miss that feeling sometimes..

Opinions: Bethel children policy
by unique1 ini got to thinking about this couple i knew growing up.
they were bethelites for at least 10 years.
they were the hard core bethel types, everything revolved around their bethel lifestyles.

Blondie: I never knew that. I have visited Bethel many times and never saw anybody under the age of 18. It is possible they were in a restricted area. The couple in my first post aren't the only ones I know of that had to leave because of having a baby after MANY years of faithful Bethel service. You would think if they will allow a few children they would take these faithful Bethel brothers into consideration. But then again nothing the Society does makes sense.

The JW Martyr Complex?
by lisaBObeesa inlike my mother before me, im a martyr.
i am almost unable to make a choice based on what is best for me.
and of course this has over time made me a depressed, bitter person who, much to my horror, explodes with rage from time to time.

I think we all go through that period of relieving ourselves of the JW burden. It takes time. Glad to hear you have been able to work through it.

Did You Refuse To See A Doctor Or Therapist Because You Were A Witness?
by minimus ini'm curious how many put off seeing a doctor or some other "worldly" professional because you didn't want to bring "reproach upon jehovah's name" or were counseled against it.

I had always heard that you were encouraged not to see a worldly psychologist because they do not always give you instructions that are in harmony with gods laws. It is very frowned upon in my area.
I finally decided to see one after years of being miserable. I felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown. I had avoided seeing one for a long time, despite thoughts of suicide, merely because I knew it was frowned upon. Even when I finally went I didn't tell my JW parents.

Bethel labs - where the future is being forbidden - today!
by RunningMan inlast week, my daughter asked me how much hair spray is too much (for those of you who dont know, spiky hair was banned at our district convention).
so, i told her about bethel labs.
it is a secret laboratory in brooklyn where intricate experiments are painstakingly carried out, day and night.

GREAT COMEBACK!!!
Is brother Jaracz perhaps determining the long term effects of self abuse, for inclusion in a future rewrite of the youth book?
I have some friends that brother can talk to that have been abusing themselves for years.

Daughter counselled on dating a wordly guy
by minimus inmy daughter recieved this email from one of her witness "friends".
she is counseling my daughter (indirectly) about her choice to date a "worldly" guy.. hey, so, we had a talk recently that was about love & respect in your marriage.
the brother brought out that this was more for us witnesses rather than worldly people, because it seems that even in the truth now marriage has lost it's correct place.

Do I tell her that I can ' t really be her friend, knowing that she's been lying to me for so long?
Your Daughters Response should be: A TRUE FRIEND, in my definition, is someone who is there for you no matter what. They stick by your side through thick and thin while respecting your decisions at the same time. If you consider this person to be a Real True Friend then your will continue to be there for this person. You will stick by her decisions to date this guy realizing that it is in fact, HER DECISION. God is the only judge of hearts, you should leave the judging up to him. A true christian loves their neighbor and even their enemies. Show love to your friend along with compassion.
