God No!! I never bought into that whole thing, besides ALL the kids my age were living double lives. I did get called into a JC one time though because something alledgedly happened at my party. They pulled me in right in front of my best friend and her mom and asked if I had seen her smoking. I said no, because I hadn't. They asked me if she had opportunity to smoke or buy cigarettes without my knowledge. "Well brothers, we did walk down to the gas station for candy and soda, she was one of the last ones out but I never saw any cigarettes." I was crying at this point. Someone else had turned her in and I guess they were trying to find a second witness. Her mother realized what was going on and nipped it right there. I was soooo thankful.

Did you ever 'Turn Someone In' to the elders? Do you regret it now?
by AK - Jeff ini am not proud of that, for i know the pain i caused someone as i look back.. i turned in 4 people for 'gross sins' over my tenure as a jw.
i wish i could take it back now.
were these people guilty of 'sin' as defined by the wts?

Not At Home.
by Blueblades inremember when we listed all the not at home doors when we were out in service?
what did you do with your list?
we use to give it to the one taking the lead on that day.

I would write it down the first time and give the list to the territory holder. If that was me, I would try them again and leave an old mag or tract the second visit and then hand the list over to the invalid in our area to write letters.

JW publications are so toxic they result in False Memory Syndrome
by Abaddon ini know the effect of the lovely blood and gore illustrations in the borg publications has beendiscussed, but i think here is proof postive that speculaion they are harmful to children is actually true.. it concerns events after a baby's body was found in rupert, idaho.
the case had no leads, although obviously some people believed it was proof of satanic ritual abuse, until one ay tyhey had a call.
a child protection official in san bernardino county, calif., was on the line.

JWs and Love towards their families
by R.F. inthis is something that just popped in my mind suddenly.. but i was thinking about over the years the many comments of jws about loved ones.
for instance, one sister was speaking of her disgust with her children not accepting the "truth".
she gladly tells anyone of what she told them; that if they don't accept it before armageddon that it's too bad.

Yeah, it is pretty sad that my parents would probably be relieved at my death because then I would have a chance at the new system again. That is what she said when my gay uncle passed away. "Well at least he has a chance in the Paradise now." It is all so twisted!!

Bloody Mess
by faithful not discreet inbloodless medicine and surgery has grown to where it is because of the fear of aids and other blood borne pathogens, not the crackpot stand of the jw's!!!
!the only reason why they have made an impression on the medical world ,is because aids accelerated their cause.
the org has the most confused and contradictory policy on blood.not even their hlc's know what is permissable.

It is a clusterf$%*. I so agree. I can't believe I was so staunch about it either. But when it is all you are taught, sometimes you forget you can think for yourself. Welcome to the board. i look forward to hearing more from you.

We ususally had ours at a coffee shop or restaurant. You would think the discussion would be solely JW based, but it really isn't. It is just like meeting up with coworkers or extended family for lunch. I really enjoyed them.

I wore both. Didn't realize I couldn't. However we always went directly to dinner so I was still dressed up for that and still wearing my badge when I didn't conveniently lose it.

I was being CONSTANTLY harrassed by the elders and my parents and at 29 I decided I should be able to lead a peaceful life of my choosing. Sending some kind of official letter was the only way to stop the harassment. It hurt to have my parents shun me, but in general my life is much more peaceful and less worrysome due to it.

I have never heard of this Sheer Cover. I will have to check it out. Maybe they don't have it around here.
I currently buy my Bare Minerals off of Ebay but still pay 17 + shipping which is still pretty expensive.
My aunt sells avon. I wonder if she could get me some samples. Thanks for all the replies. I will definitely have to check out PF and Avon.
