  "Race" - we are all Homo sapiens sapiens. No matter what our skin color. If you were given an IQ test in German, or Arabic or Hindi, how high would you score?

  So you scored 110 on an IQ test given by the average US educational system. So what? In some cultures you would be considered mentally deficient if you could not name every one of your ancestors going back a couple of hundred years. Or recite from memory the history of your people that far back. Or identify every plant in your home territory and tell whether it was safe to eat or not, and what medicinal purpose it had. Or only spoke one language (like most Americans).

  Studies show there is no difference between groups of people and intelligence (barring brain damage from living in toxic environments due to environmental racism - like poor black, hispanic or white kids living in areas with lead paint). Differences in IQ tests are due to cultural bias in the test, not to actual differences in intelligence. To say otherwise is ignorant (ig·no·rant adj 1.Lacking education or knowledge. 2.Showing or arising from a lack of education or knowledge: an ignorant mistake. 3.Unaware or uninformed.).

  question is "is this a good forum to discuss problems i have dating a jehovah's witness?

  You're learning an important lesson about JWs. She's an elder's daughter, but anything she's doing wrong will be hidden and hushed up so that the congregation can continue to believe the fiction that JWs do not do the things she's doing.

  It's just going to get sicker from here, dude. She doesn't have to face the consequences that an "average" JW (one without an elder father with a reputation to protect, and believe me, it's HIS reputation being protected here...he could be removed as elder for having a daughter like this) would have to face, so she can, quite literally, have her cake and eat it too. If she was going to leave, she would have left in disgust at how her JW husband treated her, or when she found out they lied about the dates you mentioned, or any other thing that you talked about. She doesn't have any negative consequences from being a JW (ie, not being able to have sex with you), she doesn't have any negative consequences from leaving the JW (ie, not being able to speak to her family), so she has no reason to act differently than she's been acting all this time.

  Listen to me carefully...worse case scenario - you marry her and have to live with this type of behavior, plus be the "unbelieving mate" (that sucks, I can tell you from experience). Worst case scenario - you become a JW for appearance's sake, to marry her.

  Trust me, dude...since you don't know much about "the Truth (tm)" you know less than half of the story. It's alot uglier than you think it is. GET AWAY. Let her deal with life and living BY HERSELF, let her PAY HER OWN BILLS. If anything's going to wake her up, that will. After 6 months to a year of actually having to deal with life (with no contact from you), maybe she'll be ready to sh*t or get off the pot. (don't hold your breath)

  i need to know when the wts started to use bce/ce instead of bc/ad.

  was this because secular chronology is said to be out by 2 years, and that jesus was really born in 2bc?

  so what year did all this start?

  But interestingly enough, I was reading an article in the Smithsonian magazine (I think ) - and they used "BCE" also.

  I thought the WTBTS were the only ones doing that?

  Nope. It's actually considered the correct way to note dating by academia. The one thing the JWs do that's actually seriously academic.

  Hey, I never claimed to have a forgiving nature

  There is a big difference from being cut off from your family and friends and being told god is going to destroy you for smoking, voting or talking against the governing body; and being a predator who physically or sexually abuses children.

  The brother of one of my good friends made a very serious pass at me when I was 10 or 12 (none of this had anything to do with any JWs). I was scared and didn't report anything to parents or anybody. Nearly 30 years later he got busted for sexually abusing his girlfriend's kids (yeah, I have some guilt feelings). My friend, last I heard, didn't want to have anything to do with his brother anymore. He didn't need a bunch of elders telling him to.

  Pedophilia and some other serious mental illness issues have no business being dealt with by a congregation (I don't know of any JW congs who are equipped to properly deal with even a repentant pedophile in their midst). Mental health professionals (if not a good castrating knife) are a much better solution.

  i was chatting to a friend on msn last night when she told me that another friend of hers and old aquantance of mine had logged in.

  he is a jehovah's witness but she is not.. they started chatting and i tried to add him to my list of contacts, yet he blocked me.

  i found out from her that he said the reason he blocked me was because ' i had left them'.

  Name that dog?

  due to security issues in our neighborhood we are getting a big dog.

  we had a look at him tonight big siberian husky 8 months old and very big for a husky taller than i am when standing on his back legs more of a howler than a barker hope the neighbors dont complain.

  loves children but dont think he could eat a whole one probably spit that bit out anyway.

  Ours was called "Denali" but answer to "Doofus" ;o)

  The dog in "Call of the Wild" was named "Buck". You could call him Yukon Cornelius (ever see Rudolph the Rednosed Reindeer??)

  I'd probably just start looking at a map of Alaska for cool place names.

  I've joined the world of cat owners.

  my sister has a friend who does animal rescue work and she had this one cat who is blind and deaf.

  she had to keep the poor thing locked in a small bathroom in order to keep her safe from the other animals.. well, i felt sorry for her being locked in tha small space.

  i only have trixie inside and she loves cats, so, i brought her home with me.

  Ooooh, beautiful girl! And beautiful Classic tabby pattern!! Recessive, and thus slightly more rare than the "fish bone stripes" of a mackerel tabby!

  I wouldn't worry about the plastic thing...peeing outside the litter box is almost always a sign there is something physically wrong, like a urinary tract infection. (it's one of those "get to a vet!" signs) Or sometimes an "I don't like that other cat using the same box I do" snit. Or, less often "you did something I don't like so I'm going to do something you don't like." It's not terribly common for a single cat to have issues about improper litterbox habits unless there is something physically wrong.

  Is that a dachshund? I love black and tan dachsies!!!

  yes, i know that their claims of being better than any other religion sets them up for higher expectations.

  and yes, generally jws are judgemental.
