in the latest watchtower (july 15, 2014, page 14, paragraph 10) it says; today, jehovahs people are not often confronted with apostasy within the congregation.
still, when exposed to unscriptural teachings, regardless of the source, we must decisively reject them.. so, not often, but occasionally jws are exposed to apostasy within the congregation, and they are instructed to decisively reject it.
as we all know, the vast majority of the apostasy they are exposed to comes from the governing body.. i am meeting up soon with an old friend from the 1970s who i havent seen for decades, who is still an active jw, and who would really like to hear what i think about things.
I won’t bore you with the details but when it came to the subject of unscriptural teachings I kept it to four points – the overlapping generation, the baptising of children, the new baptism question and the GBs demand for total obedience (although many other subjects came up as well).

we were sitting around visiting last night and having a good time when my friend starts in on illegal immigration and politics and starts throwing out his hate speech which eventually turns to homosexuals.

so my wife and my parents are at their convention today.
this will be the first time in my life that i will not have seen a drama or baptism.
i will miss the public address, i will not see many of my lifelong friends that i have moved away from.
This statement is always made by JWs...but in reality, it is the JW that throws away their friends and family, not the other way around.

This is so true. Family & old friends outside of the religion are usually willing to work with the JW and maintain normal family & friends relationships. The Watchtower constantly puts a wedge in between normal family & friend relationhip to the point where most JW's really know very little about relatives and/or old friends who had no association with the cult. This cult truly is a destroyer of families.

The Governing Body will ease up and allow JW's to associate discreetly with DF'd relatives only when they can come up with a scripture to support making money off the loving arrangement. Now matter what they do or say now......it's a cult.

when rutherford assumed the presidency of the watchtower society he instituted series of sweeping changes to the teachings and practices of the bible students.
some of these changes were at complete odds with what had been taught previously.
a key example was the elevation of the watchtower society as "god's visible organization on earth".
After more thought on this......I think the Watchtower and Jehovah's Witnesses name remain just internal monikers. I don't think the JW's will use those names out in the public anymore. They will continue to know they are Jehovah's Witnesses and most everyone else will still know. The less the name is said in public the less cult talk. The Watchtower will continue, but not as a public version anymore. No more Watchtower symbols on KH's. Only litrature offered to the public will be JW.Org tracts. Pathetic what this cult had us believe it was and now what it has turned into. Get out of this man-made cult people.
