  If you're looking for the facts you won't find them.

  "My Lord and my God" - Thomas on putting his hand in Jesus' side.

  You now know as much as the rest of us, WTS included.

  Otherwise you can play around with translations. They all bear the imprint of the translators prejudices and we haven't even started on the establishment of the NT canon or who may have "improved" the text before it made it into the public domain.

  As for a god who has nothing better to do than get uptight about such trivia...........

  i find all the different aliases people use on here to be pretty entertaining.. what does your name mean to you?

  why did you choose it?.

  i assume teenyuck, for example = tina spoke by a young child.

  Mine is pretty much what's implied.

  I spent most of my working life on a dairy farm and lacking imagination as I do it was the first name that came to mind.

  In a burst of inspiration I became longgone on another exJW site.

  My thoughts, at the risk of annoying some people.

  The Jewish nation has been dispersed for the better part of two thousand years. It was ridiculous to try to turn the clock back but somehow it's been done. Where are the Babylonians, Assyrians, the Cannaanites and others? In history,s dustbin.

  It should never have happened, it has fed extremist Zionist expectations but it cannot and should not be reversed.

  We are now faced with a collision between the irresistable force and the immovable object.

  There are forces in the Arab world who will not be happy until the last Jew is driven into the sea and there are Zionists who believe that what was their's 3000 years ago must be theirs now.

  They are both desperately wrong. America and the west in general cannot let Israel be defeated if only because the loss of face would be terminal, and the Palestinians are entitled to a square deal.

  Unfortunately with the west backing Israel and the major Arab nations being able to stir the pot without taking much real risk the end is not in sight.

  what is the best way to leave the jw religion ?????.

  give your experience or maybe some ideas you came up with after you left, on the best ways of getting out.. how to cope with family pressure ???

  (by far the hardest issue when leaving).

  Any organisation that values its reputation ought to be easy enough to leave.

  Any organisation that doesn't understand how anyone can have a conscientious objection to it ought to be left.

  Myself, I just left. I was very fortunate in that my witness mother and sisters have never made my life difficult.

  As to how anyone can leave who have family and friends prepared to act "scripturally" - God knows!

  My feeling is that we leave when we must, and take the consequences but it seems a pity it has to come to that.

  Your English friend was probably right to be upset.

  There is what passes for a "school of thought" in my old country which holds that to have been born in England is careless and perhaps immoral. My (English) wife has been a victim from time to time.

  I suppose it's all to do with our mutual history, but as far as I'm concerned if we can see them off at rugby once in ten years it'll do.

  What Do Un-Believers Not Believe?

  one of the things that used to annoy me in the new testament was the "believe in jesus" message.

  any explainations seemed fuzzy at best so i decided to take a run at it from behind and find the definintion of an un-believer.here is what i came up with and i welcome other opinions.

  many of the people around jesus were jews, they walked with him, talked with him, listened to his teachings and witnessed his miracles.

  when you left the borg, did any of you feel that god was dissapointed in you?

  i know in my heart that i am not turning my back on god, but my mind says something else (and so do the people in the religion).

  it's weird, when i was a catholic, i never felt guilty for missing mass, i knew that god loved me.

  There are probably millions of us! As time passes and we get ourselves straightened out and separate what we can't believe from what we could believe, and discover that there are "worldly" people out there who are a great improvement on most of our old acquaintances, and enjoy being free to discover our own truth - I could go on!

  When I was in the "truth", but weak, I used to imagine myself facing my maker on judgement day, and on being required to account for myself. Even then I found myself thinking that to say I followed a particular path because the WTS told me to would be an abdication of my personal responsibility.
