  that's a very very good point you get to our attention here. The WTBTS used that kind of teaching many times in their litterature. When they cannot show for sure from which source they take that "direct evidence", they use a endoctrinal technique that is called "straw man" evidence. That comes clear when you seek in profane book from scientists that some statements like that one can be really contradictory of actual archeologic knowledge. And for the one about the flood, there is no evidence yet discovered to confirm that the flood ever occured.

  Beside, the story of the great Rainstorm (i'm not sure if it is the right word to entitle the story of Noah and his familly, since i'm a French Canadian speaking person that can express in English sometimes) may have been written as an example of the Allmighty Power of God, like all folkloric story have its own meaning of itself. It has been used very intensively in the Ancient time. But i'm not trying to interpret something here, i'm just exposing an idea on what it could be taken for.

  A very good example on how the WT can take folkloric stories meant to learn something valuable ending up trying to proove that the one of the Bible was meant to be true. Legends are meant to explain a valuable lesson of life rather than yo be taken litterally. Even in the Bible I am sure there's a lot of them, including all the ones Jesus told in parabolic examples to explain something thoughfull to His disciple. Are those were meant to be taken litterally? I don't think so.

  Sydney's burning!

  christmas day has brought devastation all around sydney.

  ash is falling from the sky and blowing around the homes of western sydney residents.

  the sky is black with smoke and house lights are switched on during the middle of the day.

  You make very good points here. That shows me how an organization can use propaganda just to promote itself. And I agree with you that the Catholic Church has change a lot for the best. But the WT sticks on sins of the past, what we should never do. Anyone must allow that if there is a change, to just aknowledge it, instead of hiding behind preconceived toughts. But the Org. will put great emphasy on doctrines, telling what is true vs. what is not, which is not very important as long as the doctrine are not restrictive on followers (the WT would learn a lesson here if the GB wasn't so narrow minded)

  The most violently insane acts in the Bible.

  the bible contains accounts of some horrendously voilent happenings.. some more graphic then many modern films.. this disturbs many when they first read those accounts.. heres one that stood out to me when i first read it.. 1 samuel 15:33 "with that samuel went hacking a'gag to pieces before jehovah in gil'gal".

  it wasn't enough just to kill him but samuel hacked him to pieces in front of a large crowd of people.. i wouldn't want to get into a tangle with samuel if he got out of the wrong side of bed that morning.

  Good point here REX

  good historical knowing and faith in God can live together. Knownledge of the facts only tells a truth about a religion, but it doesn't make someone to lose faith in God. It can provide a better understanding of your faith when all of the remnants of the WT beliefs and behaviors are sweeped away when put against evidence.

  BTW don't conclude I don't believe in God or Jesus. It's only a matter of faith. Sin cannot be involved here cause everyone could have his own conception.

  ok let me be more precise, although no one can really come with a definite definition on this issue. Sin is what you do that will harm somebody. Sin is what you when you commit crime. Sin is what you do when you are mollesting a child. i can go on forever, but i'm sure you'll get the point here. Sin IS NOT what you do when you don't believe in Jesus, God, or everything. You don't have to believe in those things. One could put Bible verses in my face to prove this or that, what if I don't believe it just because i'm using my freewill on that subject?
