well guys, i've been part of this discussion group for about two weeks and i must say it's been really fun!
i always look forward to reading everyone's thoughts on so many different topics.. i grew up in the troof, so needless to say it was a major part of my life.
my whole childhood was engulfed in meetings, field service, book study, bible study, watchtower study.
How dumb is that?
It's not dumb; it's human nature. Everyone likes the attention they get from having a part at an assembly. But aren't Witnesses taught that bringing too much attention to yourself is bad? I always hated that line of "reasoning" for not celebrating your birthday.
In Sept 2002 when we quit the organization. The only reason I can see myself stepping foot in one again is to attend a funeral or wedding. (I have family still trapped within the Borg collective.)
i was gonna finally post my "story" for my 500th post.
but, i chickened out & am going for fluff instead.
at least one of my talents are probably borg induced.
Post your talent's here.
One talent I have is using apostrophes correctly.
(Sorry, couldn't resist...)
well, it's my anniversary.
one year ago this week i left the organization and have only been to one meeting --a funeral for a dear friend.
i didn't get disfellowshipped or write the letter announcing my apostacy, just a complete vanishing act from the crummy religion which was mine the first twenty-five years of my life.
Logansrun,
Your story sounds strikingly similar to my own. I quit the JW's in September 2002. I had been raised in "the truth" and had been baptized for 13 years. I served as an MS for a couple years, as well.
I started having doubts that the organization was 100% right a couple years back, but it finally climaxed with my wife and me leaving last September. Soon after leaving, emotional "whiplash" occurs and we start feeling really guilty. It flared up even more when we'd read articles from the Society's CD-ROM regarding apostasy. I just kept remembering that it's all part of the brain washing/mental conditioning. So we had to frequently refresh our minds with why we decided to leave. Thinking about the whole thing consumed me... I thought about it way too much. Nowadays I don't usually give it much thought.
Like you, my wife and I slipped away without getting DF'd and without DA'ing ourselves. I see no reason to play by their rules and DA myself. It will only cause more trouble between me and my JW family.
(By the way, I just saw the movie "Logan's Run" for the first time a couple weeks ago. Bought the DVD from Wal-Mart for like $6...)

I have had a few parts in Circuit Assemblies. Mostly just skits... no personal experiences or anything.
hey, just in case you are interested in something less controversial, check out this link to national geographic's website:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2003/05/0522_030522_earthmars.html
it shows a couple of images from the planet mars, looking back at earth and our moon.
I agree with Abaddon.... in this supposed "picture" of Earth, I don't see its four corners.
And the moon landing was faked.

yesterday i heard a melody that i had heard before but i never knew who it was written by.
found out it was written by bedrich smetana ( from the 6 symphonic poems ma vlast) called maldau.
its such a pretty melody.
I love Mozart's "Eine kleine Nachmusik" and Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata".
saw it happen in slo-motion.
