First of all, I don't really have an opinion on euthanasia one way or the other. But since my mother has a terminal illness, I've been thinking more about it. Not for her, but for myself when the time comes. Which will probably be in the very distant future.
Last night in the hospital, she tearfully asked the doctor, "Can't someone just please kill me now?" I'm sure it was just the frustration of not being able to be as independant as she used to be. But she is now in a retirement facility, and requires assistance for just about everything. Her mind is still as sharp as ever, which probably makes it even more difficult for her. When I looked around at the other residents of the home, I noticed that they just sat there, motionless, staring into space all day long. They looked like they were already dead, but just forgot to stop breathing.
I find it hard to think of myself in such a state. I'm very independant too, and the thought of having to rely on others to change my diapers appalls me. At this moment, I think I'd rather take myself out when I can see that enjoying any quality of life is impossible. I think I'd rather make my exit on my terms. I don't have any children, or other close family members, so it wouldn't really make a difference to anyone.
Any thoughts?

Do You Know Of Reasons Why Some Got Removed From Their Privileges?
by minimus inpioneer, ms, elder publisher???

I was removed as Account Servant and from sound because I was taking computer courses on Saturdays. It was considered a bad example for the young ones, who were encouraged to pioneer rather than pursue worldly careers.

Finally! Some good news in my life!
by Aztec ini've been having a rough go financially lately and my job is less than rewarding.
my hours have slowly been cut back over the last few months to the point where i've had to decide between food and bills.
however, my sister's friend brought me a job ad.

Hey Aztec, it sounds like you have a great opportunity here! I've been in situations where I've had to decide between food and bills too many times, so I know what you've been going through. I hope this job works out.

As some of you know, I sent a letter to the elders of my last congregation disassociating myself from Jehovah's Witnesses. I was originally going to wait, as my mother, who's 81, is very ill with cancer. She's not expected to live very long. But because of circumstances, I decided to do it this past week. I spoke to her today, and I told her about my decision. I felt it was best to give her the news myself before she found out from others who would most certainly not give her the real reasons for my disassociation. I was very surprised to find that it didn't stress her as much as I thought it would. In fact, she's quite pissed at her own congregation right now. She's been to hospital six times in the last few weeks, and I've now placed her in a nursing home for the time being, as she requires much assistance. But during this time, very few have bothered dropping by to see her or even giving a phone call. This is in spite of the fact that she was good enough to open her home as a book study center for the last 16 years. She's finally finding out just how much they really appreciated her generosity.
All things considered, I'm happy I sent the letter this week, and I'm glad I told her before she heard it from others.

Are you a good kisser?
by Maverick ina regular at the local diner was sitting in his usual spot, all long in the face and sad, when his friend the waitress came over to take his order.
"why so mopey?
", she inquired.

Never had any complaints, but plenty of compliments. Naturally, everyone likes something just a little different, so the quality of kisses would have to be subject to independant verification.

I was the account servant, though I was never an elder or ministerial servant. I was asked because the congregation's books were in such bad shape, and no one else seemed to know how to do it. I also did all the other things such as handle mic, sound, stage, subscriptions, magazines, and I pioneered for just over 2 years.
