Sounds familiar. My ex didn't seem to mind it so much when I DA'd, but definitely had a problem with my frequenting ex-jw boards and finding friends here. She couldn't understand why I couldn't just "get over it and get a life".

i have only been a recent user of this site.
the other night i explained what it was i was spending time reading online some evenings when my boyfriend is out and tried to explain how it is helping me finally let go of the jw beliefs that i have clung to for so long.
i thought he would be pleased, but he got really angry and now is very difficult any time i try to use the internet at home.

BUT---Mary Kay gave pink Cadillacs to their best managers.....JWs give NOTHING....
Don't forget, elders? will be princes? in the new system?!

i've lurked a bit here a few times and i still can't figure out if this is a site of devout believers who're having crisis issues or if it's an anti-jw site.
personally, i'm basically just curious.
i've been out of the wtbts for a long time now [25 yrs] but my mom is still active and some of my relatives are also.

I'm a devout believer in the fact that the Watchtower is a worthless, abusive cult.
Welcome!

i was always fascinated with dinosaurs as a kid.
i remembering asking my mother how come the bible doesn't mention the dinosaurs ... i mean, if he created everything, he must've created the dinosaurs.
why no mention?
the earth was only 6000 years old
If I recall correctly, the society has acknowledged that the earth is 4 billion years old, but that "creation" started later. They claim that humans have existed for 6,000 years. Then there were the preceeding "creative days", each supposedly 7,000 years in length. One elder? speculated that dinosaurs existed during one of these "creative days" to keep the vegetation under control, and that there were no meat eating dinosaurs. He also said that the carbon dating equipment scientists use are inaccurate because they don't take into account the "fact" that there was a major change in climate when the "water canopy" fell at Noah's flood.
The society is stupid enough, but some individual JWs find it necessary to expand their stupidity beyond that of the organization.

how can those doing the monitoring not be affected by what they read here?.
how can anyone not be affected by the paedophilia scandal, the un scandal, the 1975 debacle?.
how do they find someone to read here and still stay a jw?.
I'm sure those monitoring this site stopped believing in the troof a long time ago. They're well established company men who's only purpose is to maintain their stranglehold on their unsuspecting minions.

i have read so many posts and topics about how people are treated after leaving the org.
so i would like to share with you my take on this.. i cannot help but notice that most people seem to feel that they are looked down upon by the jw's.
whether it be from shunning: a mean look, comments, avoiding someone etc... i can honestly say that i have never felt this way, and i have run into several jw's since i left.
Even when I was a JW in good standing they tried to make me feel insignificant with their constant criticism. Eventually I realized that the things they were criticizing, like a good job and continuing education, were things they lacked or were afraid to pursue.
Most JWs are little people who, outside of their respective congregations, are uneducated, powerless, and insignificant. That's why they gossip about people or criticize them. It makes them feel important. It's also why they zealously endeavor to climb the theocratic ladder. Where else can a toilet cleaner gain respect and power over others?
Except for my mom, I have no desire to speak to a JW. We had little in common when I was one; we have nothing in common now.

.
if watchtower rules were applied to worldly people, you could shun worldly people for silly reasons such as...buying a 2 door car .
give other examples: .
If Watchtower rules were applied to worldly people..Stock prices in the polyester industry would skyrocket.

if I'm a sad pathetic maggot of an asshole for thinking her wishes should have been respected, then anyone of you can judge me as harshly as you want.
When someone has been thoroughly indoctrinated by a cult it should never be assumed that they are stating their own wishes, especially in a life or death matter. She was parroting watchtower dogma, not the wishes of a well informed person.

did stories, exaggerations and fables turn up after you left the "faith"?
I suppose if they were willing to make up stuff about us while we were still "active" JW's, I can only imagine what has been circulating since. I mean; what's the point of being a JW if you can't gossip, slander and backstab people?
Sounds familiar. For the 20 years I was a JW they constantly slandered me, with elders always 'taking the lead' in this. The life of a typical JW would be utterly meaningless if they had nothing to gossip about.

Yes, many lies were told about me. That's why I wish I sent my DA letter to everyone I knew.
