and its 'goodbye from him'
by dostprefer ini've taken a leaf from holly's book to thank your for having me on the forum - thirteen interesting days but came to realise one cannot achieve much speaking from behind a screen.
people do not know who you really are, nor do you they.
i read many of holly's posts but few others.

Does God make you better off financially for putting him first?
by truthseeker ina friend of mine told me that an elder said to him, "i've noticed that all the elders in the congregation are doing well financially, because they put jehovah first.
they have nice cars and big homes.if you put jehovah first, he will take care of you financially.".
i don't believe god does this kind of thing - otherwise, why are there so many poor elders in developing countries who can't even afford a bicycle to get around?

I wonder if the elders with the nice cars and big homes are working part time and pioneering?.
Didn't work for me.

Elder says "Watchtower is cutting costs"
by truthseeker inan elder told me the other day that the reason the society is making the awake!
magazine monthly, is to cut costs.
didn't tell me that the society were simplifying, or trying to make the awake more kingdom friendly.. nope, just cost cutting.

I wonder if they'll ever create a "members only" section on their web site. Publishers? would then be able to download their "spiritual food? at the proper time" in .pdf format and print them at home. Publishers? could gain access to this private section by making a "suggested donation" with their Visa or Mastercard. Of course, this would be a regular monthly donation to the worldwide work?. Publishers? could then print numerous copies of the magazines for the field service? activity themselves, saving the society money and increasing their profit margin. All costs and labor would be downloaded to congregations and individual publishers?. This simplification? would help Jehover "speed up the work".

This is something that a Witness should NEVER do !!!!!!!!!!
by JH ini spent the week-end putting this together.
what a waste of time !!!
imagine telling an elder that you didn't go out in the field service on saturday morning because you wanted to finish your puzzle..... poor elder would die of a heart attack.

A fine accomplishment, JH. If any elders ask, you can tell them it's an artist's conception of the paradise earth?. You may have to superimpose some watermelons and baby lions on it somewhere. Stick a woman with a sundress in the water somewhere. Who knows, maybe the WTS would like to use it in their magazines. Then you can set them up for a copyright infringement suit.

Do you ever DEFEND Witnesses?
by GetBusyLiving ini know i come on here a lot and laugh at the crazy stuff i used to believe.. it's a terrific place to vent my frustration at the org.
and share experiences with people who understand.
but i find that when some people trash talk witnesses who were never part of it i end up sort of defending them usually.

On several occasions my ex said "When you attack the Watchtower, you're attacking me!" I could not make her understand that she and the society were separate entities, and that she is not responsible for their actions, only hers. Most of the things people bash about the Witnesses are matters of organizational policy but many JWs take such criticizm personally. I don't know why, as most have no voice in matters of organizational policy. Any defense I would make of a JW would be to say they're misled and controlled by the society. Even then, each indivudual should have some common sense, and not do everything some stupid publishing company tells them to.
The only time I defended the JWs was before I was one, so I didn't know better.

Branch Split in the Watchtower Kingdom
by slimboyfat inbefore you read anything, you should be aware that i do not know what i am talking about.
it seems clear now that the watchtower religion has already started to decline, in the western world at least.
how will this decline play out in the future - this is one of the most interesting questions relating to the watchtower at the moment: will the witnesses enjoy a slow leisurely decline over many decades, or can we expect a major split and disintegration in the near future?

I think the JWs in Canada will finally give in to their sleazy nature and cut ties with Brooklyn. Ministerial Servants? will be deleted and hot nubile babes will be appointed as temple prostitutes. The preaching work will intensify as new ones? are invited to the Kinkdom Hall.

What is up with all the recent disfellowshipping/ disassociations?
by sf ini mean, is it just me or is there a noticable increase in such over the last few months?.
it would appear too, that it isn't going to let up anytime soon.
odds are there will be even more.. but why?

Probably the elders are expanding their service to Jehover by auxiliary pioneering? and they're counting their time in judicial hearings?. They'd much rather hear the details of someone's sexual escapades than actually go out and knock on doors.

The Social Structure in the Congregation
by Mary inever notice how the "happiest people on earth" are also the most class-oriented?
to say that jesus said his followers should all be on equal footing, it's incredible how much the r&f witness is not on equal footing.
the social structure in the congregation is more complex than the blueprints of a nuclear warhead, but just so that you "remember your place", see if you can find where your niche was/is:

Now where did YOU fit in??
There were two social structures in my congregation - mine and theirs. In their social structure I barely existed. In my social structure their place was somewhere beneath my vomit.

The Governing Body's Cruel Treatment of the Elderly
by frankiespeakin inwhat happens to a person that has given a major portion of the thier life in decades of full time service at bethel or as a circut or district overseer and they get caught not beleiveing the teachings of the wt?.
will the governing body live up to its moral obligation to take care of them in their old age?
after all these people have claimed a vow of poverty, and have put very little money aside for retirement because they served the organization full time and had no money to put aside.

I know one man who was in Bethel for about 40 years. He sometimes posts on this board. Because of being in Bethel so long he doesn't receive any money from the Canada Pension Plan, just a pittence from Old Age Security. He does whatever work he can at an age when he should be enjoying his retirement.
