So last night i was at the meeting and the local needs talk was given about "how we did last year". Naturally the brither said the avg was 9. something hours yadda yadda and theres room for improvement. However what REALLY caught my attention was this..the brother said "there was pretty good time spent REACTIVATING ones who have fallen away from Jehovahs organization." My eyes widened a bit at the robotic-like reference, like all they needed to do was flip a switch. Freaky.
Naturally another important point was resding Acts chapter sixteen where Paul and Silas are imprisoned and sing in prison. And the prison is suddenly split apart and the prison doors opened. Then:
27 The jailer, being awakened out of sleep and seeing the prison doors were open, drew his sword and was about to do away with himself, imagining that the prisoners had escaped. 28 But Paul called out with a loud voice, saying: “Do not hurt yourself, for we are all here!” 29 So he asked for lights and leaped in and, seized with trembling, he fell down before Paul and Silas. 30 And he brought them outside and said: “Sirs, what must I do to get saved?”31 They said: “Believe on the Lord Jesus and you will get saved, you and your household.” 32 And they spoke the word of Jehovah to him together with all those in his house. 33 And he took them along in that hour of the night and bathed their stripes; and, one and all, he and his were baptized without delay
So notice: 1) the jailer only had to believe on the Lord to get he and his household saved. And 2) KEY POINT!!! He was baptized in THAT HOUR of the night without delay. How did the watchtowerians react? Verse 32 was a bible study and no doubt his family were just as devoted to serve jehovah. Are you kidding me???? Mustve been very receptive and fast recall of all of Jehovahs principles, as well as clearly qualified for baltism after all the baptismal questions....lol
oh and WHOSE name did he have to believe on? Jehovah??? hm apparently in this case Jesus name was ok....(no doubt they let them know that in the future a monk would learn Gids name was Jehovah and here became two names in which we must get saved...hm

data dog--another thing. It thr NT only applies to the 144,000 then you have to assume the preaching work is also..matthew 28 i believe is the one saying the must preach and baptize...he was speaking to his apostles soooo....that would have to mean that the anointed 144,000 are the ones who preach and teach us to observe all the commandments...preaching work was not a "commandment". Jesus ditt say do the preaching wrk or else...

Jhine--spot on. In WT speculatuon becomes indoctrination. For instance, where does it say the great crowd of revelation will have to live with billions if dead bodies till the birds eat em up, clean and rebuild the world, teach newly resurrected ones, and grow ourselves to spiritual perfection in 1,000 years? I had a frient tell me how quickly the earthcan cleanse itself after something destructive has happened And that we arent going to do all those things at once but in sequences. more speculation turned indoctrination. Tell people stuff for 30-40 years and if theyre gullie enough theyll believe it. I believed it for 2 years..)!then i remembered that i had a brain tha was functional...and started to use it again.

Data dog--let me start by saying that i really enjoy your posts. Ive been lurking for some time and have enjoyed them. Ok enough ass kissing. I agree we dontknoc exactly what itd be like, a spiritual body. Either way the soul or breath of life would logically have to have a vessel (body) in order to engage in functio ad interact with the physical environment. Whether or not people believ in heavenly hope ir earthly its still a physical environment of sorts in which we would need physical bodies For interaction. Unless im missing more dimensions to the space time continuum (lol) that is t physical

prologos--i agree...i hae this debate with many who out SO MUCH emphasis on revelation. It was a hell of a vision dont get me wrong and showed us glimpses of future events perhaps...but knkwing what might or might not happen isnt a salvation issue..the watchtower utilizes revelation to condemn whom they wish...
Jhine--my thing is, if all that will happen is New Jerusalem, heaven comes down and meets the earth we now inhabit...and we are meant to stay here forever, what about the rest of the vast universe? Its an awful waste of space IMO If Gid has no intention of utilizing it. Why cant third heaven mean different galaxies? Why cant the scripture "and there will be new heavens and a new earth" mean a planet with a different sun or planetary system? Althoug given how well we as humans govern ourselves its no wonder he wouldnt just let us go galavanting throughout the universe breaking more stuff. Its all just speculation but thr point. Is none of us have it all figured out, hence why the scriptures say that that we cant imagine thr blessings in store for us.
Sorry to any atheists reading my thread, you must be dreadfully bored with reading it lol

12 I have to boast. It is not beneficial; but I shall pass on to supernatural visions and revelations of [the] Lord. 2 I know a man in union with Christ who, fourteen years ago—whether in the body I do not know, or out of the body I do not know; God knows—was caught away as such to the third heaven. 3 Yes, I know such a man—whether in the body or apart from the body, I do not know, God knows— 4 that he was caught away into paradise and heard unutterable words which it is not lawful for a man to speak.
Pau reveals a few things 1) he reveals that he seems to not know whether the spirit leaves the body.(or thats how it looks) but most importantly he links paradise with heaven. Can anyone elaborate on this scripture for me?
