Thank you Rebel8. I remember some of these texts. Wow, they happened so long time ago. As a school boy I remember being told that Armageddon is going to to happen in my childhood. Decades later, I am still here and no big "A" had happened. And my evil aunt who told me that is dead waiting for it.

These event were supposed to happen in the 1st century when retarded old man expected dead guy to appear and defeat Roman Empire.
- Christianity never was a religion of majority of the human race.
- Nobody cares about cult like Jehovah Witness, their own stupidity and misguided theology makes everyone laugh. Jesus rules since 1914?! yeah, lol. WT selected as his bride in 1918 yet not single prophecies they made came truth. Generation that will never die. Closed heavenly calling.. yeah. 140 years of wrong prophecies and misunderstanding bible. No need to attack, they make disservice to themselves.

Did the WT ever unofficially ban Kal-El?
by HowTheBibleWasCreated ina few years ago avatar was 'demonized' by the wt.
in reality their argument had an extreme ignorance of hinduism and a poor knowledge of modern langauge (avatar means something else nowadays.... ).
but anyway when i was growing up my parents recorded the 4 supermen movies on to video tape as they were played on tv.

I remember bunch of movies that were forbidden. If anyone had seen Polish movie Sexmise they will know that it was a political manifest against totalitarian, communist regime in Poland during the Marshall law in the 1980's. JW were forbidden to watch it; dispise its name, it was a not sexually oriented movie.

Yes and no. I was in Prague 1991 on Strahov stadium which had over 100,000 JWs. While it was nice to be there with family, some people I met were great and the emotions were strong, it was tiring. It was brutally hot in the pan, long line to restroom, difficult to leave, and constant monitoring what everyone was doing.

Head coverings for women
by Comatose inmy mom used to throw a paper napkin on her head when forcing us to study after i was baptised.
i've seen scarves, and shawls, and a very few hats.. isn't using a napkin on your head just the same as not bothering?
what a dumb rule too.

I never seen napkins in our KH, but scarfs were rule. But also it was in Eastern Europe where women in countryside still wear babuska, so it was not unusual. Some sisters has full drawer of various scars and also they tied them differently all the time. Some of the scarfs had knot under the chin (real babuska), other behind, some also tied a knot on top that they looked like witches. Also some elder sisters used something like a dyed red -pink diaper that they wrapped around the head.

2014! Why are we still here? 100 years since Jesus came back according to JWs.
by tenene inhello, i have been offline for quite some time and i know this might have been discussed a great deal, but its burning me, hence i am raising this issue again.
this is also to help the newbies and lurkers.
i thought the 1914 generation would have long passed by at this point and time, and believe they have come up with a new spin to the whole generation issue.

WT does not need tens of millions of followers; it will be happy with several millions. Because our world has always some problems and issues (political, social, economical, natural), it will create people who are interested in WT doctrines. They will find it enticing and will feel that WT has answer for all their personal problems. Additionally, some people are drown into extreme group, which will ensure WT surival. While religious indifference is the biggest threat to WT and almost to every religion in the world, they will be happy with small pack of loyal followers. Addtionally, all these misleaded prophecies and articles really did not shake the organization in the past 135 years. Many JWs who are critical to the organization think that it is possible to reform. I personally do not believe JW disappear into history during my lifetime.

Scared I'll Never be Happy Again
by Stumbeline inso it's' been 8 months since i was disfellowshiped.

Stumbeline, welcome to JWN. You like many of us were decieved by man made religion and the emotional scars are deep. They will take a time to heal. Remeber, you have the key to happiness that was denied to you by following false prophets. Of course you will be happy again. I will advise you to create a goal to look for and work for. Create small goals and long term goals. They will keep you busy and will make you stronger. You will see a progress and you will know that you are winning over publishing house. Think of small goals like I joing yoga class, pillates in gym, read a book, pain a room. Think of your goals like securing your future and livelihood. Go to college, learn skills necessary for job market, save money for down payment...
I would not worry much about the family at this point. When you succeeding, you can show how life is better outside the cult. You may try to win your family away from it. Longer I am out from WT (~20 years), the life is much better than for my siblings who are in. Do not let man made organization controlling you. If you suffer from deep depression as result of leaving the cult, the others advices correctly to see a professional help. WT engaged in psychological and mental abuse, and the wounds are just too deep to be healed on its own.

JWs in a frenzy!
by leaving_quietly inanyone else get the distinct impression that jws are being worked up into a frenzy with all the changes and activity nowadays?
by the end of august, there will have been four campaigns inside of a year.
one last november, a memorial campaign, a convention campaign and an advertise jw.org campaign.. then there's the conventions with all the hooplah around that with all the video, and the aggrandizement of synchronized gb talks.

I will agree with blondie, WT will need to come up with a new date to create some preaching frenzy and boost its aging membership. They will have to get away with 1914 fiasco first. I do not think they will do total, sudden overthrowing of this nonsense. However, they are moving away from it and will set another target date for people to look for. It is end of the world cult that thrives in doomsday scenario and will not just abandon it because its is 2014.

Could There Be Another Mass Exodus From This Cult?
by mrquik init's happened before.
how much crap can any rational human being take before they just snap & walk away disgusted?.

WT reached saturation point in industrialized countries. The membership there peaked and is actually decreasing. This is happening through much of Europe, including the Eastern, Japan, Northern America. However, I would not underestimate 3rd world which is and will be fertile land for obscure, american based organization. These countries have rather young population; they are not affected by past fiasco and unfullfilled prophecies. The organization can and will come with a new date which will boost membership. Everywhere in the world are people who have problem and do not see a solution in this life. The WT promises quick fix in imminent rescue in Armageddon. The governing body can without problem survive with a stagnant membership of several millions world-wide.

Would You Become A JW Again If Local Congregations Could Become Independent?
by Space Madness infor those who still believe in god, if local congregations could break away from the watchtower would you consider becoming a witness again.
this would mean no more governing body, circuit overseers, watchtower magazines, and each congregation could have its own "new light".
most of us left because of the control (no college, disfellowsipping) but if the watchtower was out of the picture, all of this would disappear.

Nope, not to mention all these nonsense doctrines that are core of the JW beliefs. KH does not do any community work, no social services, care, eduction, self improvement and support which are detrimental for local church to survive.
