We shall dress with modesty (1Tim2:9), why dress like rich lawyers or wealthy financiers?
by Mr Fool inin my point of view, modest clothing is simple and humble.
so why are jw-men dressed like they own a big company or are challangers to the president post?

I think everything is relative, but in general almost entire human race is better in 2014 than was in 1914. I remember communism, post communist collapse, and subsequent rise of the living standard everywhere in Eastern Block. I was last year in Slovakia, before in Poland and Hungary, and people were dressed nicely, historical city centers were renowated, and everyone had nice care. Prague, Budapest, Krakow or Ljubjana are typical European capitals, not I remember form 1980. The same development happend in East Asia, Persian Gulf, and elsewhere.

My elder JW parent said that the best living it has right now. They went through a Great Depression, horror of WWII, air raids of 1944, than Red Terror under Stalin. Now they can do whatever they like, no waiting in lines for goods, have guaranteed pension, etc. My granny was born at the turn of the century and lived almost through entire 20th century, where she remembered monarchy, WWI, and everything afterwards until live to the end of the communism and onward. She said that after 1920's the best life came to her in the 1990's, except that the health was failing a bit.

To LongHairGal, that elderly sister stuck in my memory due subsequent tragedies that happened to her. As she survived both her children and husband, she could only think one thing, Armageddon. She constantly inquired when the Armageddon will happen. She was institualized in a mental instutition where she died.
Problem for many JW that their entire life revolves about imaginary End of the Time. Their entire life, livelihood, theology, and thinking is directed to date that should happen within ther time. I remember one elder that debated in the 1980's if it is worthy to fix his house, since Armageddon is about to happen and he can move to some nice leftover villa from worldly people. That was 30 years ago! Many JW find themselves suprised to live regular human life span without ever seeing the End, except theirs. My aunt thought she will die only to be just resurrected to live with her's extensive JW family in upcomming Armageddon. That was 14 years ago.

Even in Eastern Europe, JW were never poor nor struggled. They did not had high living standard, but they also had not spent money on earthly pleasures, nor had issues with laws and lifestyle that would prevent them to gain employment. However, the major issue for JW is the old age. Almost nobody had saved money for retirement as they belived that Armaggedon is just beyond the corner and sturggle. My JW parent(s) did not save a dime as they thought that will not make it to retirement, but would live in new world. The reality hit hard when they retired, and instead enjoying silver years, they had to be supported by children or work part time. At least they have their own place paid off. I know a few old JW who are on various welfare nests and even used Catholic charity for food delivery.

I knew one sister in KH, who survived both of her children. In her old age, she believed that the Armageddon will be certain in her lifetime. She hoped to see her children resurrected. At the end she was institutialized in a mental institution uncapable to say anything except shreking Armageddon is abou to happen. This was only thing she could think of. What I heard, she died year or two ago without seeing the End, except hers. Very sad.

Has all life descended from a common ancestor? Watchtowers view
by DS211 inmany scientists point to the fossil record as support for the idea that life emerged from a common origin.
new features appear suddenly.
would it be reasonable to assert that your preconceived idea of the movie was right because of the five frames?

As a teen I worked in archeologic sites in Europe. We had find various sites from Ice Age that were 15-25 thousand years old. Human population around 7000 BC was already about 5 mil people and reached 30 mil 3000 years later. Various biomathematic models will clearly eliminate Adam and Eve as the ancestry of present human race originating at 4000 BC.

Bobcat, with the first post and third post, I agree with your commentary. However, I cannot agree with the second comment. In the time of Jesus, kingdom was a Roman Empire that controlled lives of all population around the Mediterranen for centuries. The emperor was the king. Even Paul had to appeal to him, not to some local ruler controlling tribal village as was the case during the Jewish migration period. The Issiah does not apply here, as at that time Rome was small outpost, the biggest empire was Persia. 500 years later, the Rome was master. The Jewish war of 70 AD WAS a war of one province seeking to wrestle out Roman control, NOT WAR between two kingdoms. No independent kindgom of Judea existed at that time. Anyone who lived in 1st century AD around Mediterranean sea was aware that there was only one power, one ruler, one entity, one type of citizenship, one economic zone, which was indeed the mighty Roman Empire. Any tribal view of antiquated political system of the Bronze age era does not apply.
Good start for Roman History is here:
Romans controlled Judea, Rome had was not in war with another kingdom, but with a rebellious province. Not even with Jewish nation itself as 2/3 of Jews lived outside Judea. Again people attempt to overestimate the importance of Judea for the 1st century AD as it was the center of the universe. For 60 millions of people living in the Roman Empire, the center was of course Rome. For Jews in Judea, it was hostile occupational power.
