DF'ed and Confused...

so i think the title pretty much says it all.

i have a tendancy to be long winded about things, so i'll just give a general introduction and maybe tell things as i go along.

i don't even really know what i want from this site (ironically i remember jehovahs-witness.net mentioned from the platform as a site not to go to).

Stumebeline, welcome to JWN. Take a deep breath and look for your option. You are young. You can make career in life with things you were denied as JW. Get education at local college to get marketable in job market. WT gave you some valuable skills that can be utilized in your college studies. You may enjoy doing presentation and lectures as we did in our KH. Realize you are free from man-made organization. Leaving WT does not equal leaving God. Situation with your mom can be only resolved by you. There is very little someone could do, except you need to make things workout. However, you need to look for your own future and secure well being for yourself to create family, friends, and happiness.

I do not recommend returning into WT. People who left and came back are ostricized as they are considered spiritually weak. The only exception is JW who have extensive family in KH. Read a lot, find out your options. Do not hesitate to reach for the government help to get grants for education or training. There is life outside KH, and often better than you will have in closed community. Good luck.

i hear a lot of stories circulating about jws in russia.

the government is raiding houses for literature, just like the old days.

JW experience crackdown, but they are not the only one. Russia has preferential treatment for Orthodox church which became the hotbed for nationalistic resurrection of Russia. It is uncommon for priest to bless skinheads before they go to beat up people from Caucasus, Central Asia, or Far East. Orthodox church support violency and became a pillar for modern Russia which was unable to find its position within globalized world. Russia is still isolated as Eastern Block is totally against it, and Central Asia became heavily Islamized. JW as many other foreigner religions are getting suppressed. I read that Catholic, Protestant churches are getting similar treatment.

interesting shout down occured in eastern ukraine between two factions of the christian orthodox following a deadly shoot out.. ukrainian orhtodox leader patriarch filerat condemned putin and company as being against god's will while pro russia patriarch kirill spoke of the west trying to destroy holy russia.. like the syrian war there are multiple players adn complex agendas.

I disagree transhuman, because it was numerous wars that shoot up Putin's popularity in Russia. Russia is heavily militarized society, it always was since the time of Tzars. 70% of Russians support military intervention in Ukraine. In period of economic uncertainity and isolation, Russia prefered war as a diversion from internal problems. Putin does not care to by tyrant. Russians do no care either. They still consider Stalin as one of their greatest ruler, something imaginable in other Eastern Block countries. Germans are ashamed for A. Hitler, Czechoslovaks for Gottwald, and Romanians for Ceaucescu.

According to U.S. Census, in 2010 there was 53,364 individuals older than 100 in USA. If USA is 5% of the world population, than the number of 100 years old worldwide would be over 1 million. However, USA together with Japan and Western Europe represents more than 1/3 of retirees world wide. Therefore, the number of elderly over 100 will be more or less around 250,000. By 2020, the number will increase by 5-7%. It is also crucial to mention that there was deep population depression between 1914-1920 as a result of WWI and Spanish flu which is/was visible on tree of life. Within next six years, majority of people born before 1914 will be dead. Statistic points that only 2% of people who are 100 will be alive within next five years.

JW faith is recognized as one top most homophobic religion in the world. Very a few are put on top of hatred for gay and lesbians as WT. I knew elder who has gay son, he left the organization and moved to his bf in capital city. The parents had mental breakdown and the wife was/is periodically institutionalized due her son's sexual orientation.

Welcome DJS. I was born in country that used to border with Ukraine, so I watch the events there with a lot of worries. I think the war is innevitable and will escalate into major European conflict as did Balkan wars in 1990's.

Duh. Since the 4th century, Catholic church believes that Second coming is spiritual, metaphysical. St. Augustine formulated it in his work City of God, where the Judgement is continous and always present.

Stillin, these stories are in circulation for past 2000 years. The orignal midrash recorded them as far as back as 200 BC. They were retold and rewritten in the late antiquity and also got into Babylonian Talmud: "the serpent came upon Eve he injected a lust into her". During medieval times, monks in the monasteries mentioned that Satan seduced Eve, and introduced sin into her, which was carried into the rest of the humanity. Renaissance was especially productive in creating sexual themes, and it was rather well known in 1500's Europe that Cain was Satan's child. Talmud and midrash explain that the enemity between two seeds of Eve was a stuggle between Cain and Abel, not spiritual battle that is mentioned in NT.

According to Jewish midrash, the exile from Eden was caused by sexual immoratlity between Adam, Eve, and Serpent. Satan Serpent was jealous on Adam and watched them having sexual relationship. Serpent seduced Eve, and Eve became pregnant with Cain. Abel was a product of Adam and Eve, and the enemity between two seeds was between offsprings of Serpent and Adam. Some scholars suggest that Serpent also defiled Adam. After the sex act, both were ashamed what have they done and blamed each ohter. Because both were no more pure and were defiled, the were kicked by G-d from the Eden.

Jewish explanation of the story from Genesis makes much more sense than Christians. It is more revealing and detailed. There was not just disobidience of the God's command not to eat forbidden fruit, but sexual perversion that destroyed them both as they desired strange [non-human] flesh.
