Generally, every revolution is driven by men. They are biggest risk takers and are the most willing to sacrifice. Men are also the most unhappy with no win situation. Revolutions in the 1960's or 1989 were also driven by young population and students. If you look into the history of the French Revolution, you will see that most of the sacrifice was done by men who were between 20 and 30. Younger people are also the most easy to manipulate by the elderly for their goals. This was done by Stalin and Hitler, but can be seen in other revolutions. However, revolutions generally get explosive when women get involved, because women want to see better future for their children. Women's march on Versailles in 1789 imprisoned king Louis XVI and from that point onward he was just bystander of the changes. Russian revolution in 1917 was also driven by left-wing feminists who wanted achiving suffrage within new system.

Why are 'most' of the people fighting in the Middle East MEN???
by NAVYTOWN init seems that in every war or revolution, 'most' of the participants are men and young boys.
aside from the occasional female suicide bomber.
does this have something to do with their religion and/ or cultural traditions?

Watchtower Tells Us "Employers Seek JWs Only" Yet Most JW Employers Avoid Hiring JWs, Why?
by BucketShopBill inhere's a thought: we're told over and over how employers sing the praises of their jw employees, sometimes with a vague quote about how 'if we could only hire jws, we would as they are so honest'.
however, while some jw employers themselves may hire jw employees (usually cheap entry level positions), most don't.
in fact, many jw's in general who have businesses have a rule not to do work with jws, even those in their congregation.

I heard mostly horror stories. My friend who is not JW, but has family in the cult worked with bunch of witnesses. They were constantly attempting to proselyte him on the workplace. The sister would use customer time as a field service day and continued to preach to the customers in the store. They constantly complained and were not returning. One elder's wife almost drove one woman to suicide. They worked on the shift, where one was only formally interested in the WT religion. When her interest waned, the sister constantly attempted to use time at work place for book study with her. The other woman was really desperate, she was in her fiftees, economy in collapse and they lived in high-unemployed area in the country which made her immposible to quit. I think it was the threat of lawsuit or the labor deparment that helped the poor woman to resolve the outright hostile workplace abuse.
My biological sister used her workplace to pass literature even when she was forbidden by her employer. Later she worked for elder who did not paid her and had on her name borrow money for business and inventory. She spent years paying them off, dealt with tax office, and never saw dime from the guy. But at that point she did not talked to me, so I did not foot the bill.

Today's "gay-bashing" and other embarrassing content public talk!
by stuckinarut2 inoh wow..... the public talk today is certainly embarrassing for witnesses!.
started (completely left field too...seemed to come out of nowhere) with condemning homosexuality, and anyone who even tolerates it.
if you like tv shows or movies with gay characters, you are "just as bad" (eg modern family tv show).

JWs are homophobics. I knew several gay people in WT, even these who were in Bethel in Prague and turned crazy from a constant suppression of their feeling. One of the person was DF, not for gay conduct but constantly stalking one guy and his brother. In my KH we had son of elder who turned out to be gay. The elder and the wife had a mental breakdown. The woman was even institualized in a mental hospital because their only son is gay and lives with a his domestic partner. What I heard he is not allowed to ever talk to his parents until he turns straight. So far decade and half later, he is still with that dude.
Story of Sodom and Gomorrah is a moral story. It does not describe commited same-sex relationship, but homosexual rape and lack of hospitality for strangers. Jewish writtings like Midrash mention robbery, murders, torture of passerby, lack of compassion for poor and starving, and idolatory. Rabbis were not sure what awaits as a fate for the destroyed men of Sodom. Some of them said that they will sit by the gates of Hell and judge passerby until the Judgment Day, others "Soon the blessed Holy One takes pity upon them, G-d feels compassions for the sinners who already suffered in Hell for one year".
Apostle Paul was held in Rome in home confinment having access to the court of Nero. Anyone who seen movie Calligula would understand how deprived was Roman aristocratic life in the 1st century, especially for religious Jew like Paul. Nero engaged numerous origies with various individuals and his lifestyle was equally repulsive to the conservative nature of the Roman militaristic society, not mentioning conservative provincial preacher. There is nothing prophetic about Paul description on Rome and same-sex behavior. It was not even accepted by standard Roman society. Nero eventually paid for his despictable life with his own.

Name Some Things That JWs Look Down Upon That Normal People Wouldn't Even Think About?
by minimus injws look down on others for saying, "bless you" if someone sneezes.
it has something to do with the demons.
another example is that it is considered satanic if a man took his hat off for a lady!

What is up with the epidemic of sinkholes?
by EndofMysteries inthis is definitely not a thing where media is paying more attention, they are definitely on the rise.
too bad the gb didn't think of foretelling that years ago haha.
i have only 2 theories, 1 is perhaps it's due to pesticides and acid rain, and if that is the case, then it will get real bad.

EOM, sinkholes are naturally occuring phenomenon documented in the geological past for millions of years. What is happeing lately is combination of population growth and expansion of undeground sewer/pipelines that made ideal starting point for sinkholes. Majority of sinkholes in densly populated areas happened when underground waterway is bursted and flow of water washout soil and mineral deposits and creating an empty pocket that will eventually collapse under the weight. The collapse is speed up by vibrations from traffic and movement on the ground. Almost all major world cities have issue with sinkholes and often the source is eroded surface around the pipelines. States like Florida are specific due limestones that is much easier to erode, but the scenario is pretty much the same.

If END is Imminent, Why Witness in Silence in Public Places?
by ProfCNJ inwe were taught for 100 years that the end or armageddon is imminent, as if it is coming in a hurry.
but look now at the new way of sharing god's kingdom in uk which i find as a complete irony.
"thousands have switched tactics to stand on street corners in more than a dozen cities across britain - and unusually for public preachers, they are staying almost completely silent... unlike other evangelical preachers, they do not shout or call attention to themselves - instead standing in near-silence until someone approaches them."http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2691254/how-jehovahs-witnesses-got-street-smart-believers-swap-infamous-doorstepping-standing-outside-train-stations-shops.html.

When I was a kid my JW aunt that destroyed my childhood and family by dragging my parents into the faith told me back in time when Cold War was in the peak, and Berlin Wall was standing, exactly the same words: urgency, imminent, armageddon, last breath of Satan, death and destruction is upon the world, etc... Decades later, Berlin Wall faded into history and new generation was born, and became young adult. My aunt turned into ashes, and she have not seen the world to end as she expected. 40 year later, you will hear the same urgency nonsense in 2054 as the world's end is upon as.. bla, bla
And standing silence in the subway and train station is around since mid 1980's. But in USA I had encountered couple crazies, mostly afro-americans who were shouting on the streets waving WT up in the air and preaching the end. Only end I am preparing is the biological, that is ineviteble for any of as, and I hope it comes many, many, years in the future.

Losing Faith in Faith..
by Dis-Member ini came across this lecture at 3am not being able to sleep by dan baker.
it details his transition from christian fundamentalist to atheist and the various shades in-between.
he realises that every denomination of christian can open the bible and prove to you that they have the right interpretation and everyone else is wrong.

I believe in the God as a creator of the Universe. However, I do not believe that Bible is word God. How would God left behind such book that is full of nonsense, missing references to non-existing books in the cannon, has internal inconsistencies and contradictions. Bible is what people thousands of years ago thought was their divine revelation. Do we care what Romans belived and treasured so much like the books they kept in the temple which contained sybyllas' prophecies, and had people to die for?
