I grew up in since age six, so I am not sure if I could. I do not have whatsoever desire joining any organized religion. Somewhere I read that 2/3 of exJW do not become a member of any organization, and probably have one of the highest percentage of atheists.

Just Curious About Something
by EmptyInside insorry, couldn't think of a better title for this post, without it being long.. i was thinking this morning,if ex-jws, who were born into the group less likely to join another religion after leaving.
vs. the witnesses who belonged to a church before joining the religion.. from my own prespective, being raised a witness,i have no intention of joining any religion.
and it seems that born-ins are less likely to join a religion after leaving the cult.. in my own experience,i think it's religious burn-out to tell the truth.

Jehovah's Witnesses - the Fourth Branch of Judaism
by truthseeker ineverything about the jws points exclusively to jehovah, the god of the old testament.. jesus hardly gets a mention.
they can't ignore him completely but isn't it interesting that the only publication they produced about jesus, doesn't even have his name on it.
it's simply called "the greatest man who ever lived".

BackseatDevil has the most valid points. I do not see JW as anything remotely related to Judaism. Everything JW believes is far of what Judaism teaches. WT invented its own theology and borrowed from other Christian sects to develop its present nonsense. JW do not worship Jesus as is normal for Christians because they do not believe in salvation through him but from FDS who will be the Noah's ark at the Armageddon. Judaism does not teach original sin nor atonement and dozens other beliefs integrated in JW cult. The reason why WT emphasizes OT is within its structure and culture. It is a cult that lack compassion, charity, and good deeds that are cornerstone of the Christianity. It they would follow Jesus teaching, they would also have to take care of its flock, which will never happen. Ancient Israelities had deeds and support services within their archaic society dealing with poor and needy. WT does not do that. WT is a cult of its own with mash of various beliefs that can change per will of the GB.

factfinder, we had a huge jewish cemetery in our field service that survived WWII. It was neglected as majority of the families died during Holocaust and survivors emigrated to Israel. But it was a popular place for tourists and visitors. One sister on field service commented the occupants of the cemetery as Jesus killers who would not get resurrected and they were unworthy in G-d eyes because they were like rejected inhabitants of Sodom. I was ready to kick her butt because I have many jewish friends, had jewish great great grandmother killed in 1942, and worked in place with many jews and "mischlings". I was so outraged with the blatant antisemitsm that you would only hear from the mouth of some neonazi leader or watching WWII documentaries..

In my KH we have a group of sisters who regularly patrolled cemeteries and were infamous about it. They would know any new burial and able to trace the relatives so they would attempt to preach and distribute literature. One sister used to do that for decades. I heard once really embarassing situation when they appeared in funeral at the moment when the coffin was put to the ground. The "mourners" were not really that sad, and she attempted to preach and say that it would be nice to see that person get resurrected in the new world. Everyone turned to her with a confused a look and asked her if she knew what kind of person they were burying.. It turned out that guy was murderer, beater, and rapist and everyone was glad that he was gone. Embarassed she walked away.

WT is man made organization and JW will reflect good and bad traces in the humanity. While there were nice people, and I enjoyed some of the bible studies, like analysis of James, the theology is based on rubbish and pseudo-science. It is a religion where only momentary explanation of the scriptures matters and they can change at will without anyone questioning it. Overall, WT is destroyer of families, lives, happiness, and human abilities. It is like Northern Korean dictatorship where entiere effort in the organization is dedicated on preaching of never appearing Armageddon. WT does not care about anyone in the organization, everyone is disposable. They will cut you on pieces like a lemon and squeeze all the juice and grind all the skin of you and throw the rest out. Run when you can.

I have encountered anti-semitism entire life, and within JW community as well. In Eastern Europe we had still many Jews and I know my elders were openly antisemtic and ridiculed Jews, Jewish community, and Jewish culture. I had one elder who insisted that Jews bear responsibility for killing Jesus, therefore they are not eligible for God's grace in resurrenction or surviving armageddon.
Anti-semitism is based on early Christian philosophy and its founder was false Apostle Paul. Within the domain of the Roman Empire, it was spread around Mediterranean and transferred to all states that base their culture on Christian principles. Medieval Europe was antisemitic, but there was also a huge cultural exchange between these two communities. In medieval Bohemia, Jews made up to 1/4 of population in Prague, and there were good and bad relationship between these two. While some pogroms occurred in the 1200 years history, it is also crucial say that some of them were iniciated by Church and turned against it as well. When a huge pogroms of 1483 happened during revolution, at the same time wealthy monasteries were looted as well and together with Jews and rabbis were killed many catholic priests and monks. They had also social context. Generally during the war Jews were very loyal and defended city and country against any invaders. Czechoslovak army in exile during WWII was made up to 1/3 of Jewish refugees from Nazi occupation.
Antisemitism is easy, long established escape for people to collectivelly single out entire group of people
