I was always taught in the JW religion, that humans have really only been on earth for 5000 years or so... There is so much evidence of the Neandertherdal people, with scientists finding many skulls, bones, & such, but scientists date these bones 100 thousand-millions of years old... The Society used to always add that carbon dating is not accurate. I also noticed that JWs never talked about the dinosaurs much... What do you think?????? ---- kristine

Did Jesus Christ exist at all?
by Tyler insome of my comments (and that of others) on other threads have highlighted a basic differance between those of us who belieave jesus christ did exist, and those of us who recon he did not.
i belieave jesus as described in the gospells did not exist.
so i decided to start a thread that adresses this issue face on.

I don't really know that Jesus exists because I have never had poof that he does. IN MY OPINION IT'S ALL A THEORY UNLESS PROVEN OTHERWISE. EVEN IF HE TOLD ME HE WAS JESUS, WOULD I BELIEVE HIM? NO- Who can prove to me that the Bible hasn't been changed or prove that anyone in the Bible existed? I know that there is alot of historical documentation, but I wasn't there to witness it- Just my thoughts- kristine

Suicide and JW'S
by obiwan ini have personally had experience with this.
a long time friend committed suicide because of her husband and the problems they were having.
he abused her and ended up leaving her, the elders wouldn't help out much stating that it was a marital problem.. she couldn't cope with him leaving, she was extremely dependant on him, she felt the only way out was suicide.

The Society never helps anyone with their problems.. They just make it worse with all of the guilt-trips they put on you.. They left me w/ no dignity at all. I came away feeling worthless & helpless. I can see how a person can totally lose it & feel that suicide is their only option. I almost committed suicide myself, but I see now what crap the JW religion was...-- Much sympathy to all who have lost .... kristine

What if the Watchtower Changed .......
by IslandWoman inif the watchtower changed it's blood doctrine to one where publishers could do what their conscience dictated without fear of reprisals from the brothers, if they also quit using the two witness rule and said all criminal accusations must be reported to the police, if they stopped shunning, if they said all df and da'd could associate with their friends and family, if they apologized to ray franz and all others who were hurt by their policies; would exjws respect their dogma and refrain from putting down their religious beliefs to their faces?.
this is an important question, more important than you know.

If they indeed changed, I would still not go back-- They have taken a lot away from all of our lives, & would be like all of the other Churches, in which they already are. That would be more of a reason to hate them even more, because then you would know even more so that Jehovah was never behind them.. That'll be the day I die anyway!!!!--- (boy this website surely lets you get a lot off of your chest, & I really appreciate all of you!)--- kristine

Why do most brothers work in the cleaning business?
by JH inwhen i joined the jw's many years ago, i couldn't get over how many were working in the cleaning business.
i know this permitted them to go to the meetings, out in the field service, and work without any conflict.. where did this trend start?
is it like this world wide?

My husband & I were regular Pioneers, & we cleaned banks for a living.. This is mostly a trend w/ JW's because I think that most of them do not have the education to get a real job. Also, with many pioneering & such, it frees up their time to "preach the good news". This really ate me up because I never got the education I wanted until later when I left the JW's. Most of the people I knew either cleaned houses, banks, windows, carpets, etc.... I also knew a Pioneer couple who cleaned houses & went on welfare----SAD! ----kristine

If you die, you will not be allowed to marry in the new world....(?)
by FreeofGuilt inwell, lets just say this was one of my major hangups when i was w/ the jws.. to think that the one you loved, & were married to, or if you were single never married before, & then making it to the new world not being able to marry again was such a horrifying concept..!
i remember some pics being changed on the front pages of literature, or illustrations being changed inside of literature where once there were a wife & children meeting their father/husband in the graveyard after resurrection, & then they took the illustrations away, with maybe a whole family just welcoming back one of their children from the grave.
well, i asked my mom over & over about this teaching, & she told me to ask the brothers... the brothers said that i would just have to have faith that things would workout in the resurrection, or that the society would get new light about the subject, but that i should never question the faithful & discreet slave.

Have any of you heard any "new light" about this, or have any of you had this particular hangup? That is just one of the many teachings by JWs that made me doubt & leave .... And it's almost like they try to hide this teaching, or not bring it up for the sake of not knowing the real answer.... What do you think, or know about this?---kristine

Witnessism's........
by integ ini know some have posted similar topics like this, but i thought it might be kind of fun (for the new ones that are coming here in droves) and others, to give some examples of catch phrases etc, that are unique to the jw world.
here's a few to start:.... "muster up boldness", "sound down into our hearts","satan's crafty acts", "paradisaic", "young ones"," discernment".....these are just a few of the more irritating.
add yours if you'd like.. integ.

How Do You Feel About Jehovah's Witnesses???
by minimus innearly everyone that posts here says mostly negative things about the witnesses.
a few will speak of certain jw's that were helpful to them while they were going through difficulties.
in the situation that you find yourself in now, do you feel that you hate jw's?

FreeofGuilt
I used to be a Fake JW @ one time, so I cannot say that I hate them. Most of them are just brain-washed by the teachings, but some of them know it's crap, & prefer to stay fake to please their family members/friends. The whole organization as a whole makes me sick!--Kristine
