Have you put on the "New Personality" ?

when we were in we were often read that scripture and told we should work hard at putting on the new personality, which in wt speak meant their cult personality, nothing like the person of christ.. since leaving it has become necessary for us to make deep internal changes, to our worldview, to our emotions, and to our actions.. we have had to change from being controlled in all these areas by the wt cult, to forming our own new personality.. for born-ins like me this is really quite a task, we do not have a "pre-cult" personality to "recover".

but even for converts, there is stilll this work to do, before you joined you may have been racist, homophobic, or perhaps a thief, or immoral in some other way, surely you do not wish to "recover" those aspects of your original personality ?so you too have to "put on" a new one.. how are we all doing with this ?

i know that for me i feel it is still a work in progress, i need to work on certain things that are the result of my being in the jw/wt scam for all those decades, and some things that are a part of my natural personality which are not desireable as traits, laziness for example, and i am the arch-procrastinator, not good.. how do you guys feel you are doing since leaving ?.

It was like being a robot, my feelings were not natural but put on and acted. I struggled with being myself and being a JW programmed robot. It is mental anguish trying to suppress your true feelings with enforced feelings, and leads to depression because you know who you are but you are taught and required to be a robot at all times!!! SMH! I remember some brothers and sisters who truly embraced this robot personality, and were the same ones to shunn you if you didn't embrace it as much. I guess you would call them the over zealous or self righteous robot.

GODS NAME?

in my culture using the first name or even last name ( we use mom,dad,sir,ma'am,grandma,grandpa,auntie,uncle) of my parents or an older and respected person in my family or circle of friends it is considered downright disrespectful!!!

even when it comes to a person who is a doctor in secluar society, out of respect you would say dr. last name, not using the first name.

not sure of how your culture does things, but if its a friend or an aquatintence of the same age we typicaly can use their first name.

JWs are taught to think of God as a friend... So this way we can use his name... How foolish!!! To JWs God is brought down to our pitiful, imperfect, weak level so we can think of and call him a mere friend??? SMH!!! GOD is not a mere friend to us he is our CREATOR and LIFE GIVER!!! How disrespectful we don't even look to our parents or grand parents as a mere friend, but our patriarchs, so how much more so GOD!!!

So my question is if GOD is the Most Holy, Supreme Being, and deserving of the utmost RESPECT more than any mere human, why do we use his (so called) name? I know JWs will say because OUR bible says it! Also most bibles and religions don't use it out of RESPECT.

the recent wt states : if you don't follow, obey and listen to every word we say, and decide to change on a whim, you will be dfed and not allowed to see your family and friends!!!

we dont care if we are wrong because we will just say the light is getting brighter and not apologize, and if you don't think the light is getting brighter you will be dfed, even if it comes out years later that you were right and we were wrong you will still be dfed!!!

that's because we are just evil men not inspired by god but inspired by our own selfish hearts!!!

Mexican family killed and very heartbreaking!!!

in mexico there was a jw family of 8 killed with machetes it's very heartbreaking!

the problem i have is why does the wbats not make a mention of things like this in the yearbook!!!

they will tell you about how a brothers chickens didn't die and how jehovah must have blessed him... but if a whole family is killed where is the mention of jehovah now??????????????????????????????????????

Only lovely story's of all that has gone well... and how Jehovah took care of and truly blessed them. Where are the storys about how Jehovah didn't take care of all those sexually abused or that were brutally murdered??? SFPW you are totally brainwashed, I have to use baby talk with you, but I can't blame you, you are a product of the WBATS who wants you to be obedient and humble little children, and not to question, think or reason too much, I feel for you...

LQ what was the so called quote from the 1980 talk that acknowledged the Society's responsibility??? I have never heard it!!! The last thing I've heard was a comment made by a sister in 2013 last Sunday at the kingdom hall who stated : We don't want to become like some of the friends in 1975 who got a little over zealous and decided to go ahead of society, we need to wait on the GB to make sound decisions... Then what followed were a lot of head nods unitedly in agreement! SMH! So LQ its nice ( and I say it sarcasticly) that the society wants to so called apologize in 1980 but it's etched into the minds of all faithful JWs TODAY that the WTBATS did not make such statements. So that apology was a halfhearted (if that) apology and way to stop the bleeding of JWs in mass leaving the WBATS, 5 years later as mentioned by BB, and only after seeing the damaged caused. Then to say for SOME of the disappointment... How about ALL!!! The GB is to arrogant and incompetent to do so! They are not inspired by anything but their own false hearts!!!

JV I know about the dog fighting but I doubt the one doing it was a JW even if he got baptized he probably wasnt active, who knows... but people died and I doubt the two 4 year olds and the 60 year old were dog fighting, but understand your point. They will twist the story to make it fit their agenda as you said, they will say becareful of your family who are inactive or not JWs because your whole family can die!!! SMH!!! That's another SICK aspect of their writing department.
