  I Can't keep a Job, Geez

  my command sergeant major called me in to his office today...asked me if i liked fort jackson...i'm being assigned (in october) to the noncommissioned officer academy as a small group leader for the advanced noncommissioned officer's course (ancoc) that's the course you have to take when you make sergeant first class (e-7), the one i just graduated from.

  i've only been in this job since 1 may.

  guess i'm locked into post for another two years.

  Harry Potter Mania

  we are eagerly awaiting the 5th book in the series which should be delivered to my home on saturday.

  oooh--I am salivating! I can't wait! Although, I didn't pre-order. I'll be sure to get my hands on a copy as soon as I can, though.

  As far as people criticizing Harry Potter. Give. Me. A. Break.

  If your kids can't tell the difference between fantasy and reality--its really not Harry Potter's fault. That is some good, clean fun right there.

  For me, (so far) it has been:

  Still Life With Woodpecker (Tom Robbins)

  The Fountainhead (Ayn Rand)

  Maybe it was just that I read them at pivitol points in my life--but both are so valuable to me.

  I'd considered joining the BORG for just that reason...I don't think I could pull of the lie that long.

  If you do, please, PLEASE let us know when you are scheduled to give your convention talk. I would travel across the country just to see it! In fact, we could all caravan to whatever location the convention was at. Then, at the pivitol moment when you bust out with your message, the whole section of us could stand up and light our lighters! Heh. That would be cool.

  I gotta say, it looks kind of lame from the advertisements.

  I don't know why the hell they decided to use computer animation for the Hulk. He looks totally unbelievable! He looks like a stinking cartoon.

  The old TV series was awesome! And the hulk WAS believable! When I was little, I was both terrified and transfixed by that show.

  I am a Muslim.

  Not only is the 72 Virgins derived from Hadith...but it would interest you all to know that there are different grades of Hadith, ranging from "strong" to "weak". You will find that the weakest Hadith usually are those containing the most outlandish stories.

  The Hadith were saying of the Prophet Muhammad, and they did not even begin to be collected until almost 200 years after his death. THEREFORE, many of them must be taken with a grain of salt.

  Just because millions of people believe it doesn't make it true. Millions of people think Jesus was born on December 25, too.

  I'd really appreciate it if you guys didn't talk out your asses about a religion that none of you seems to know a damn thing about.

  I'm not interested in debating this on the message board, but if anyone wants to discuss it with me one-on-one, you can PT me.

  i'm curious to know because when i was in junior high i was constantly picked on made fun of and the butt of many jokes.

  even remembering that hurts till this day.

  Oh, YEAH. I was totally picked on. It was a nightmare! Not only were we freaky religous folks, but my parents bought into that whole idea that the poorer you are the closer to God you are. I was picked on INCESSANTLY!

  Fortunately, I got pretty cagey, and ended up being able to defend myself--but it still hurt. Especially since there were no other kids my age to hang out with. My best friends were my brother and a little 5 year old girl at the hall. That. Is. It.

  A Question for serious Bible Students...

  why were some ancient writings not included in the bible as we know it?

  for instance the book of enoch goes into detail of his experience of being taken to heaven and later coming back to earth to share his experience with his sons, and then later died a natural death.

  i have read this book and it is full of details that no one back then could have described without our modern science and technology we have today.

  Whats the craziest thing you've done at the Kingdom hall?

  i was given the "privilege" to open the kh early to switch on the heating.

  they even gave me my own set of keys.. every saturday night, me and another jw would drive to the kh with our amps and guitars and .

  jam until the early morning, using the stage and the kh's pa system.

  One morning I went to the KH for meeting for service (it was a weekday and I was pioneering). I was really early, for some reason, and I pulled into the handicapped parking spot (even though I am not handicapped). I hadn't turned the car off, though and I guess I forgot to put it in "Park", because suddenly the car lurched forward and bent the metal pole/sign in half. I then HIGH TAILED IT out of there and forgot about service that day.

  Next time I went to the meeting, I noticed someone had tried to straighten it out and it was looking all dilapidated and bent out of shape. I never told anyone about it either.
