have you ever heard that statement?

i have heard it many times and i just don't know what to do with it.

they are chosing a to live a lie because they like the lifestyle.

I would make the one who says that explain exactly why it's the best way of life. Why, for example, is it better than the way of life of one who has devoted his or her life to rescuing orphaned and/or suffering animals?

Just think of all the thousands of hours JWs waste on their boring, useless, inefficient, ineffective, poorly taught meetings alone. They could use all that time educating/enlightening themselves, aiding their fellow creatures, contributing something useful to society (instead of being a drain), etc.

The JW way of life is not the best way.

I still love Kingdom Melodies.

ok, at the risk of getting flamed, i have been out for over 20 years, and still love kingdom melodies.

i remember them for the good times, the conventions and assemblies, hearing the orchestral versions, imagining the orchestra playing.

some pieces were really nice.

No flaming from me; I feel the same way you do. Some of the old melodies were extremely pretty and moving to me. I'm an extremely sentimental & nostalgic person, and it can almost make me tearful to hear those pretty melodies (like the ones you listed) now as they remind me of the time when I felt so secure and had such a wonderful hope (at least it seemed wonderful then). I remember the conventions in the eighties when I was at the peak of my belief. After the last session was over, I would lean against the rails in the upper section of the arena and watch all the activity on the floor, dreading leaving the convention and going back to the "world". The songs remind me of that time.

The new song book is absolutely disgusting.

What Happened to the Religion I Left in 1995?

glad to know this site is here.. i would not be writing this if it were not 2014. i was a ministerial servant and regular pioneer who left the jehovahs witnesses back in 1995/96, around that time.

i left suddenly, didnt fade away, just left when something clicked one day in my head during the morning shower and made me realize this religion wasnt true.

I remembered a conversation I had with several other Witnesses about how long the world would last. I mentioned I could see myself growing up into my forties and seeing the year 2014 and even perhaps beyond. I was laughed at and even given some threatening looks for suggesting such hogwash and heresy!

“You’d better watch out brother,” came the warnings. “Independent thinking like that can get you kicked out into the darkness with the apostates!”

I've mentioned to my wife numerous times lately that if I had said among JWs back in the eighties something like "You'd better plan for the future; it could be 2010 or later before the new world gets here," I'd have been laughed at, mocked, or worse.

I still can’t get over John 17:3 in their new Bible! We used to proudly preach how this rendering was totally unacceptable and would mislead a person away from the “truth that leads to everlasting life!” And now they adopted it as a freakin’ revision?!

Yep; that one burns my a$$ up. I think I'm going to start a new thread about it; I've got a lot to say about it.

The Awake! magazine’s inside cover intro changed. They suddenly dropped the part about 'God’s promise of a new world before the 1914 generation passes away' and I knew something was up.

That was the beginning of the end for me.

HELP needed for a friend, please. Anyone?..

a friend of mine (who has recently started reading jwn) is having trouble eating and sleeping because, even after having recently woken up to ttatt.. they are still concerned about 'demons, everlasting destruction, and jehovahs disapproval'.. i've tried to encourage them.

i'm sure you all understand that these things can take time, the transition period is often painful, to some extent.

i'm still struggling with anger and depression myself.. i'll be away from jwn, off the internet, and thus out of contact with them for a while (don't ask why)... so please don't expect me to reply to or even look at what you post, .

a top jehovah's witnesses' world leader has bemoaned politicians' failure to fulfill campaign promises.. stephen lett, who gave a keynote speech at the on-going convention held at levy mwanawasa stadium in ndola, said politicians needed to meet the aspirations of people who vote them into public offices.. meanwhile, conversion overseer john mashilipa has urged fellow witnesses to respect the government of the day, obedient and continue remaining non-partisan.. in the keynote address streamed live from solwezi district in the north-western province, mr lett, one of the seven members of the world governing body said electorates expected much from the people they vote for.. "there is need for politicians to fulfill their promises to their voters once they assumed power," he said.. he observed that most politicians failed to fulfill promises to their voters who had high expectations.. "politicians usually promise a moon and not deliver to their promises, this is disappointing to the voters who have high expectations," he said.. mr mashilipa said believers needed to seek god's kingdom which he said never fails, unlike human governance.. this year's conversion attracted a historic attendance of more than 40,000 people from across the five districts in the province namely; ndola, kitwe, luanshya, mufulira, kalushi and chambishi.. gathered under the theme 'keep seeking first god's kingdom', witnesses filled the stadium and those who could not find seats monitored proceedings from outside.

Ooh! Good one. I was promised eternal life in a panda-petting paradise and I was told in black-and-white terms (and I have it in writing) that I would have received the reward by the year 2000 at the latest. However, here it is - almost 2015 - and I find myself living a life of drudgery, with my body beginning to wear down. Blind hypocrites. Remove the boulders from your eyes before you go pointing out grains of sand in the eyes of others.

my elder friend told me that his kh is in need of upgrading their electronic system so that they can be ready for the big zone meeting in november and they need the flat screen televisions mounted to also enjoy all future special meetings put on by the branch.

the branch has given them the exact specifications and he mentioned the branch wants to use apple products.

they passed a resolution for a one time donation by the publishers to pay for the $6,000.00 system.

I bet the Watchtower knew to make the congregation money grab first, then put out the edict to get the expensive technology devices into the KH's. Smart move on their part right there. Most congs will probably have to come out of their pockets again for the money, when they already had the money but just forked it over to the Watchtower with no questions asked.

How many did you, personally, entrap in the Borg ?

in my nearly 60 years in the religion, although i "studied" with a good number, i cannot think of any who could lay the blame at my door for being in the religion today.. one lad possibly might, i studied with him briefly as he was trying to get off drugs, he then moved away, and then married a "sister" a few years later, and is still in, but i doubt he would blame me, i hope not.. of the others i studied with none are still in, the last i heard of one of them, a weirdo kid, now weirdo man, was when he was arrested for "flashing" in a local spot frquented by doggers etc.

i guess i was a useless "tutor".

as it happens, that is one of the things i am proud to be a failure at, getting people to join a cult.. i always tried to not do proper r.v's, and never suggested a "study" to anyone, but some, like weirdo, were shoved my way by elders who didn't want the work themselves.. how many are you guilty of getting in to the cult ?.

Earth is a brutal, savage place. Nature is cruel and coldly efficient. I could write volumes on the horrors of nature. If Jah and his son designed nature, then I want no fellowship with them.

Your post is too long and you have bad grammar. You assume that we left JWdom because of some weakness on our part. We actually left because of strength on our part. I think we are more intelligent, well-read, discerning, reasonable, etc. than blind JWs who follow a proven false prophet.

If your post is a joke, then I say get a life. I don't have time for such.

JWs are spending all their time on stuff like this and no time on deep research and really spiritual things. They are becoming ever more shallow.

Jehovah's organization is moving so fast with new technology and we need to keep up with it

Jehovah's organization has been very slow with new technology. It is just now accepting it, having frowned on it for years.
