Download the bible at www.e-sword.net It is free and I find it very useful. There are several versions available.

How many here (believers) believe in the Hell fire doctrine and why??

it's obvious the bible is very clear on a actual hell of fire.

"cursed into the eternal fire with the devil and his angels", rev.20:15.

"lake of fire", rev.21:8 "fire and brimstone".

I have understood the fire referred to to be the rubbish tip in the valley of Gehanna outside Jerusalem. There was a fire kept burning constantly there. The bodies of criminals were tipped there and burnt.

i don't believe in the Dantes inferno type hell. After all you can't feel pain if your body has been burned to ashes.

preaching and memorial question

i asked a jw why most of them don't partake of the bread and wine at their memorial, and was told that the command was given to the disciples only.. at the end of matthew's gospel, the command is given to the 11 disciples to go out and preach to everyone, so why do those who don't take the bread and wine go out knocking doors preaching?.

surely if only the disciples can take the emblems then only the disciples should preach.. no explanation of where the 144,000 come into it was given.. .

Have a look at Ephesians 4 v 4-6. There is only one hope, not two. It's worth researching 'hope'. I can recommend downloading a copy of e-sword.

had a sit down chat with an elder who is aware of my doubts.

we were on the subject of new light, i was saying that if the org changes a teaching then the old teaching was wrong and cannot qualify as truth at the time it was taught, so where did the falsehood come from?.

his response was the gb is imperfect!!

truth is truth and cannot change. He is admitting that your GB sometimes tells you things that are not true.

i have bdd, it isn't just the meetings it's everything.

i don't want to go but i feel guilty of not going cause he said everyone is wondering where i am, but i dont want anyone to see my face... and tomorrow they said they'll call me to make sure im going but it's so tough.

also how do i cancel talks thx.. .

No Satan

that was one of the first of the prepackaged beliefs from my church that i let fall.. why?.

because i'd stared evil in the face and lived to tell about it.

i know it's textures, it's dark places, the feel, smell, perversion, degradation, corruption of it.

I have had many discussions on my doorstep with JWs about Satan and get the feeling that they worship him as a sort of god, like Molech etc. They say that he has supernatural powers and that God had to make a sacrifice to him in the form of Jesus suffering.

Overwhelming Fear of Death

i do, and i hate it.

people (mostly my brother) tells me to not fear death and just to enjoy life and so on, but that doesn't seem to help any.

I was fearful of death when young but found it got easier as I got older. I have the 'been there, done that' attitude now. I always wondered how old people coped with the knowledge that they would be dead in 2, 5, or 10 years time. With increasing aches and pains it does not seem such a bad thing now.. though I do still have quite a few years left, as far as I know. I do have a faith that I will be resurrected, however, but I'm not a JW.

why would god create the world, then and put a pychopathic malignant loony in charge, and then pay a ransom to get it back?.

that would make the jw god a bad judge of character, unable to keep his own staff under control, and the devil a complete loser.. where do these ideas come from?
