Very entertaining indeed. It was useful in the sense that I know I would never do that. But if I was a believing JWs, he would not have got me thinking. Kate xx

How did you teach your kids TTATT? How old were they?
by KateWild inwhen i first started going on "other" jw websites my head was spinning so i didn't say anything to my kids about what i had read.
steve hassan's material helped a lot it was when i read that, that i realised i need to free my kids.. i got a lot of advice from jwn too.. my daughter had moved cities and went to the hall we used to visit frequently.
things changed when she became a member instead of just a visitor.

Ask him when you're alone...
"What other ways can we be possibly narrowing our choice of friends?"
He will jump to tell you by not being friends with non-JWs. All his friends at school will be talking about girls and dating. Do you really want him to miss out on all that? But if his dad is there he won't say it. But believe me this is what will be on his mind. If you are approachable he will tell you how he really feels like he did before.
Keep lines of comunication open.

This months Awake is good about friends and widening out. But JWs are restrictive with friends limiting them only to JWs. It's totally hypocritical. Get him to read it and tell him he is good at picking friends at school, then arrange to go for a meal as a family or something and invite the school friend along.
4. Widen Your Circle of Friends
True, we need to be selective about the people we befriend. But that does not mean narrowing our choice of friends to those of a certain age or upbringing. Taking an interest in people of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and nationalities can truly enrich our lives. June Awake 2014
You husband won't be able to say anything, because it's in the Awake. It will help your son leave if he has a circle of friends outside the KH.

No TARPS Allowed (or large umbrellas).
by problemaddict inmaybe this was already covered here.
i've been absent a bit more than usual.. at qualcomm stadium, home of the chargers and the "special arrangement" with san diego which means they use the venue for free, you are not allowed to bring a tarp in the 80 degree sunshine, nor a large umbrella.. mercifully however, you may bring a small one person umbrella you can hold or perhaps vice to the seat, but if someone asks you to take it down, you are to oblige.
san diego is freaking out over this i can assure you.

Just letting you know I passed the exam
by will-be-apostate inhi, my apostate friends.. a couple of weeks ago i asked for some advice regarding studying methods.
then some of you asked me to let you know my score after i take the exam at mineralogy.. i scored 90%.
i'm pretty happy with it because the exams i take are not in my native language.. if i keep up with the good scores i might get a scholarship and then bye bye watchtower society.

KateWild, I'm planning to visit the UK. Plane tickets are relatively cheap nowadays. Do you live in London?
My parents are from London, I am from Liverpool. If you want to arrange a meetup London is best. Before you book let me know the dates and I will see if I can come too. I speak Polish too, you're not from Poland are you?

Fabulous job so far. I am glad your plan is working out. Having a good exit plan always leads to more happiness when you actually exit. I am in the UK. Are you going to try the UK for work?

ONE REASON
by snare&racket inout of interest, and to formulate a cordial chat, would you give your top one reason for your belief or non belief?.
my foremost 'one reason' for non belief is:.
the historical evidence that provides an explination and timeline for how the modern religious doctrine's and dogma developed over time.. .

Everything Not Forbidden is Compulsory
by cofty ini came across this phrase in the context of quantum mechanics.
it's called the gell-mann's totalitarian principle.. i thought it summed up life in the watchtower quite accurately..

I was thinking It's much the same as believing in the Darwinian story and having to support Dawkins and the neo-Darwinists who use science to push their own scientist agenda. They are victims of what Raymond Tallis calls Darwinitis and Neuromania! Hahaha
Just pulling your leg, but you get the sentiment Kate xx

I see your point. It's a very black and white statement. It doesn't allow for freedom of choice. Kate xx

Matthew Powner- Advanced research on the Origin of life. How credible is he?
by KateWild ini have come to the conclusion that science cannot prove or disprove the existence of god.
however the scientific evidence available is compelling enough for me to believe that a creator is responsible for life on earth.. i have read much about powner and understand the work he is doing.
i am interested in your views as to his credibility.

Physics gave way to chemistry which gave way to biology which gave way to evolution which gave way to me which gave way to boring replies on a forum...ta da!-Snare
Hilarious! hahaha. I think I cling to God for a few possible reasons
- I was predisposed that way
- I am suffering CD from being in a cult and haven't deprogramed yet
- I have developed into a religious individual
- It gives me fluffy comfort
- It's just a matter of perspective
I am not sure why either, but I want to explore why some believe and others do not that's why there are all the "boring replies"
