They both represented Candace Conti, so to comapre them would not be appropriate, it seems like they did different jobs from the information I have seen and they worked together. Kate xx

Rick Simons vs Irwin Zalkin
by Calebs Airplane inthey're both doing an excellent job... but which lawyer do you believe is currently best equipped to expose the watchtower's child sex abuse scandals and cover-ups?.

ARE JEHOVAHS WITNESSES CREATIONISTS OR EVOLUTIONISTS?
by Viva la Vida inthe answer to this question is not that easy or obvious as you might think.
if your answer is "creationists" you are wrong, they are evolutionists a rare breed of evolutionists, but evolutionists at last .. at this stage of my argumentation you might think i have lost my mind for stating jehovahs witnesses are evolutionists, but this might be because you are thinking as the wt has taught you to think.
the wt has presented a distorted view of the theory of evolution.

JWs are a breed of their own. An Awake article was clear to point out that they were not Creationists. Obviously any JWs reading that excerpt from "Insight on Scriptures" would deny it was conclusive evidence that JWs are evolutionists. They are seperate from the world, and WT wants to make sure all JWs know this to keep them isolated.
They are niether creationists or evolutionists.

Remarkable painting, that's exactly how I feel and how my JC treated me. I was df'd for exposing domestic violence in my family. Kate xx

preface question:
by mohrb inorder of operations is important, so, i'll ask a question before i make assumptions and start "fixing things.".
obviously, the site heavily encourages the viewpoint of former j-dubs and others who have disagreements with the political posturing of the wbts.
i get that, and see your points.

Welcome to both mohrb and alive.
I am df'd, I was df'd unjustly and I am glad that both JWs and exJWs can chat together in a safe place.

If you have been inactive for over a year can you get disfellowshipped?
by cognac ini've read conflicting things so was hoping to get this clarified.. .

The fact that your hubby is trying to rat you out is concerning. Hopefully you have a strong relationship, you're obviously still together after you left a year ago (same time as me approx). Perhaps you can ride this through and do regular things as a family every week that bring you all closer together. We had board game night ( monopoly), and we used to go swimming together too.
Here is hoping you don't have to face the stress of a JC.

"Jehovah is really blessing our family! Thanks for your visit"
by stuckinarut2 inso i am being hounded by the elders who are staring to get suspicious about our "slackening off in the truth".
rather than being railroaded or pushed into a defensive or argumentative situation, i am keeping the following comment up my sleeve:.
"jehovah is really blessing our family life.

Excellent strategy Stuck!!!
I am so glad you have a good response, but hopefully they won't approach you. Being positive about things is a real kick in the teeth, I like it very much. This thread can help others in your situation too. Reading the litterature and all the hypocrisy and double standards could possibly be counter productive to your family being blessed. Do you think you can read less WT propaganda?

Name the GOOD things and NICE things about Jehovah's Witnesses
by stuckinarut2 inok, so in the interests of balance....(as it has rightly been pointed out that i am getting more bitter toward the org), can we think of any positive or nice things about jehovah's witnesses?.
just throwing this topic out there....... .

Millie well said, you described JWs who are doormats, most JWs are like this family you described and a few are just liars, playing the game but getting all the privileges and bending all the rules. Kate xx

Hypocritical video on jw.org "what's a real friend."
by stuckinarut2 inhave you watched the 4 min animated white board drawing video on jw.org called "what's a real friend?".
it is one of the most hypocritical pieces they have produced!.
it goes into detail explaining that real friends "don't judge you, dont talk about you behind your back, don't hold grudges, don't expect you to conform, and encourage individuality!".

Good for you stuck, glad you have a plan, it's always best to have a plan because then you feel in control. I had elders chasing me and calling to my home at inappropriate times, I felt bombarded, but then I took control. Kate xx

Meeting for not paying assembly fees???!!!!
by Kool Jo inhey folks......has anyone else heard of, or experienced this before?.
i visited by parents over the weekend and accompanied them to their assembly....same rubbish spoken about since ive been born....obey the gb, donate your last penny, no education and be a pushover.. anyways, our assembly hall has lush vegetation and scenery, so i was more focused on that....i started dozing off after lunch, so got up and went walking, saw some older folks from the congregation i grew up with.. upon the conclusion of the assembly, wed normally leave out right after the prayer ends so as to avoid the traffic.
however, for this assembly he told me that hes gonna be a few minutes with the elders and branch representatives...so a few minutes turned into an hour..

The CO is probably getting a little uptight about money because he has been told from Bethel to retrieve all expected funds. Bethel are having to pay for all these child abuse lawsuits, it clearly explains why the CO is being blunt with the cong elders.
Does your dad know about the lawsuits and settlements?

Interesting Religious Conversation with my Daughter...
by garyneal inyesterday, my wife was getting ready for the kh and told the kids that they had to get ready too.
i figured, oh well, they're heading to the hall at least i can get the time i need to catch up on some house work and what not.
before i know it, the wife gave up and allowed the kids to stay.

I told her that I have NO interest in making my children think my way (that's what religious people do) and instead I just simply present things as they simply are to the best of my knowledge.- gary
To be fair I think as parents we all want our children to follow in our footsteps and think like us in important matters. Those who view university education as an assest will encourage theor kids to go to uni, vegetarians encourage their kids to be vegetarian and present them with the pros and cons of meat. We all do it, so to recognise this is the first step, it's not necessarily a bad thing as long as we teach them critical thinking too, and keep reminding them they make good choices when they do.
