i have been lurking through this sight for about a month now and have found it to be wonderful!
i would like to say right off- i am not a baptized witness-i am not a publisher- i do not have family in the borg-nor do i have friends there either- i just study with the jw's.
at 1st i thought "wow- these people really know their stuff- this is great!

I am looking forward to your stories about the study, you will find much support and advice here, I am pleased to see that you have kept an open mind and are looking for the truth, you know you will not find it with the Jehovah's Witnesses. Ask them if they ever feel that the graphic depictions of Armageddon are healthy for children.

her ladyship and i are off on holiday tomorrow.. we're flying to corfu, a greek island not far from the coast of albania.
we're staying in a pub in a village called paleokastritsa in the north-west of the island.http://www.agni.gr/index.htm.
this is our first time ever to greece, so our anticipation is running high!.
Have a great time and when you get back, could you spell the name of the place you went to phonetically, I tried to pronouce it, and don't think it went very well.

you old softie, I'm having a psychic moment here, because I have spent the weekend thinking about the changes in me since finding the board. After years of feeling shut down, stifled, defensive and being unwilling to make new friends, I have begun to speak. Not just here though, it has begun to move into the rest of my life. I have an opinion and I express it. I had planned on starting a thread this morning, because I feel so good, and it is slowly becoming a consistent sense of well being and dare I say worthiness.
As for the nastiness here, I usually don't get it, what I mean is I can't figure out what the fights are about, why some people get mad and post a nasty reply to a post that didn't seem to deserve it. When I see that happening I usually get bored and drop the thread. But the fights do demonstrate that emotions run high among many ex JW's, and I have seen that as a sort of post traumatic effect of having been a witness, particularly among those born into it.
Thanks for your insight and now you might have to change your name from Razorblade to something like sweetie-pie or wrm&fzy.

for many of us, serving jehovah was a life changing choice we made as adults.
for others, it was something we did because it was our parents' choice and we had to comply.
for me it was my choice to become a jw.
There were times when I felt safe in the nurturing arms of the Witnesses, but on the whole all I felt was worthless. It was the result of the thrice weekly VERBAL BEATINGS I received at meetings. Because there was absolutly no way to be good enough.
The safety part was an illusion that David Copperfield would never be able to replicate.
How can you feel or be safe when you have jackles nipping at your heels, waiting for you to make a false move, waiting to move in for the kill.
The jackles of course are all your loving "brothers and sisters" ready to tear you apart if you make a mistake, have a bad day, or go through a tradgedy that derails you if only for a little while.

i have a distant cousin, 15 and in a wheel chair.
she's always saying how she can't wait until the new system comes when finally she'll be set free from her handicap and can run around with joyful glee.
it breaks my heart knowing this is never gonna happen and makes me even more angrier.
Got a funny one for ya,
There was a brother in our congregation who had been in the Hells Angels before becoming a witless. He had been shot in the head in a big shootout with the police. He was paralyzed on one side (no that's not the funny part). There was a sister who married him because she would one day have a perfect husband. The brother was not "all there" mentally as well as physically, but our faithful sister didn't marry that guy, she married the one that would one day be. He was on full disability, couldn't work, neither did she and she had some kids from a previous marriage, and I'm sure they are all living happily on disability, pioneering away, waiting for the perfection.
I take that back, its not a bit funny, its sad and pathetic.

this happened in the mid 80's at a circuit assembly in wisconsin.
the "brothers" decided they had the solution to the long lines for the ladies room.
they went in there and covered the mirrors with brown paper.
I thought the brown paper was an isolated incident, but it looks like it was the ultimate solution, reminds me of Hitler. Will there someday be gas chambers for all the unruly sisters who tear down the paper? I cannot believe the stories here, it is beyond belief, wouldn't it be fun to get some undercover cameras in one of those restrooms to document the brown paper? It would be a great way to get people to understand what the borg is all about, particularly with regard to women. Gets me thinking about a documentary. Hmmm. Do we have any film making buffs here?

two weeks camping in the south of france watching my girlfriend's bum go brown.
Have fun and get me a present and how come people go to "the south of france"? How come I don't go to the south of anything? I may go to southern somewhere, but never the south OF anywhere. So you have to be rich and well traveled to go to the south of someplace? Maybe you have to be well versed in the classics or perhaps philosophy. Do you need a masters or a PHD? Do I need a visa to get to the south of someplace? will a passport work? Do you have to get shots from the Doctor?
