  Do you miss being part of something big?

  at one time i was one of "gods chosen people", part of a special group of people who had exclusive access to hidden truths about the earth and its people.. now of cource i realise i'm just like everyone else and all the puzzles are still there.. kind of miss that feeling sometimes..

  I know what you mean and I used to feel that way in the beginning. But after a while I began to get the hang of being part of my community and the larger community of the world. I am still a work in progress, but its coming along and this board of course helps alot. Don't forget we get to be a part of the world now, and the separateness that was required to be part of the Witnesses is not a healthy thing. We don't need our secret lingo anymore, we can have opinions and build a belief system and a world view based on our very own belief system, one we chose for ourselves.

  How cool is that, from the trivial "do I want a cat", to the major, "do I believe in the right to life or am I more of the right to choose persuasion"

  republican or democrat

  I Just Don't "Fit" Anywhere!

  i'm sitting at work today, listening to all the different "cliques" around me, typing here on these boards a bit (don't tell), and it occurred to me again that i just don't fit.. .

  it seems like i don't "fit" anywhere.

  i'm always on the outskirts of alot of "groups", always on the fringe, but never inside.

  Me too Me too, the problem is that you just invented a clique here and worse yet you are our leader and we will glum on to you and try to find out what you are wearing today so we can safely choose outfits that will represent the qualities of our new clique. Are we preppie, or perhaps goth, do we use eyeliner? He He. I hope we aren't the cheerleader kind of clique, maybe we could be nerds and have everybody find out how cool we really are!!!

  One of my personal favorites: If you stumble a fellow Christian, you may as well put a millstone around your neck and jump in the ocean, but if you are stumbled it is your fault because you are not faithful enough.

  Here is the promised land you Israelites, but first go in there and kill everyone so you can live there in happiness and grow your crops in the blood soaked earth. But the blood was poured out on the ground so its okay to eat what you grow in it. Which brings me to blood.

  Let your babies die rather than give them blood.

  Wait until your wedding night, when its to late to find out if your spouse only cares about his own pleasure, but thats okay because the Bible speaks about the proper use of a woman, yup there to use so you don't spill it on the ground by masturbation.

  Let some senile old farts in Brooklyn preside over EVERY aspect of your life. Who should do the housework, how to properly beat your kids into submission, what to read, eat and do in bed.

  how are you still affected?

  sure there are some of us who have been "out" for years and others that are only out by their mindset but due to many reasons still have to save face.. in what ways do you still feel the hold of the wt in you?

  do you still pick out your music/movies carefully?

  does nudity and/or language still offend you to a deafening degree?

  My husbands great aunt passed away at age 96, at her funeral the ones gathered recited the Lord's Prayer, I recited with them, but felt weird and wished I could put my heart into it, But the JW's stole that from me and I can never get it back, I think I am incapable of ever having faith again, and believe me I have tried. They stole god from me, I do not believe and I blame the JW's-DAMN THEIR SOULS TO HELL, oh crap I can't even do that because there is no hell

  A loss of Life, A tribute to my nieces....

  thirteen years ago my nieces were murdered.

  today is a hard day for me, remembering the phone call the shock and pain.

  My sincere sympathy, my nieces and nephews are such a joy to me, I cannot imagine having to do without them. I am baby sitting my great niece and nephew this weekend, I will be thinking of you and giving them extra love and attention, because we never know what the future brings.

  i was thinking isnt it strange how everything in the bible like prophecys and god telling ppl what to do etc was always relayed by dreams ,visions and real things seen and heard .but today theres is nothing.

  just flashes of light new teachings that dont come via any usual way god does things.

  when he told ppl stuff in the bible he got into a dream or they heard his voice.so how do they come about for the wts?

  I liked your post and you were very politically correct. Your questions and wondering were valid, no need for anyone to take offense. I have wondered why people insist on proclaiming themselves Christians. Reminds me of my sister in law who went on and on about the Christian cruise she went on - a whole boatload of Christians. Somebody send in the lions. Don't get your knickers in a twist, I'm kidding. . . . or am I? (insert evil laugh) whah ha ha!

  I have been shunned!

  not that i really care...but my daughters family has a few of them that are jw's.for many yrs they talked to me very limited,i guess they have found out that i no longer believe the org has truth to it.so now the shunning has started...lol when we met in the coffee shop my daughters father did this little dance shuffle, backwards to get out of my way...even a few weeks back when he picking something up from here for my daughter they had to get him to carry it(this happened before i knew i was a shunnee) he peeked around the corner of my door and took a weak step in..he leaned a bit couldnt reach what he was trying to pick up,then he took another step..leaned...still couldnt get it...i was watching him like..good gawd!!

  does he think a demon is going to get him?how sad..i am amazed at what this cult has done to persons minds.....back to the story... =0).

  my hubbies brother is married to my daughter's aunt and she is a jw.....and we went camping with my hubbies family and they were to meet my daughter's father and other jw...well when they seen me pull up in the van,i thought they were going to have a stroke.my daughters stepmom was about to pop her last nerve.they sat behind the tent and chatted forawhile and my brother in law came over and said they are leaving because of me.so they took down alll their camping gear and moved far enough away from the evil..bad bad heather.(lol).

  You must be very brave, when I was first shunned, I was alternately angry and weepy what a ride!

  Talesin and Mouthy,

  I am so very sorry. I lost my brother to cancer 3 years ago. It is a horrible thing. Talesin, just keep up the contact with your friend, sometimes people withdraw because they don't know what to say or do. It sounds like he has a faithful friend in you. I am sure he appreciates your non-interference the best you can do is to let him lead the conversation, he will know what he needs and when he needs it.

  I live in Wisconsin and my brother lived in Los Angeles, I went to see him two weeks before he died. I spent a week there, going to see him in the hospital every day. One day we snuck out of the hospital to go have a beer and two days later he was on a respirator, when I left he was in a coma. I will always cherish the memory of that beer.
