It's none of those things; he's just moving to a foreign language congo to escape the new "Simplified English WT."

My Study Conductor Jumped Ship - Any Possible Explanations?
by InterestedOne inmy study conductor has informed me that he & his wife are switching to a foreign language congregation that is far away from the territory they live in (it will involve a lot of driving back & forth).
because he is switching congregations, he said he will not have the energy to devote to my study and recommended another brother who could take over, and i have met him.
however, this change happened simultaneously with a decision i have made.

New simplified Watchtower
by alanv inbeginning with the july 15th 2011 edition of the watchtower, the society are producing a simplified version of the study copy.. this is apparantly for the many people whose first language is not english, and yet they live in a predominantly englsih speaking county.. the normal study edition will still be produced but it looks like the cong.
will be able to ask for a supply of the simplified version each month.. this simplified version can be downloaded from the watchtower site.. http://www.jw.org/index.html.

"This new (simplified) version will be tried for one year, and if it is helpful, it will continue to be printed."
Future announcement scheduled for this time next year:
"The simplified English version of the Watchtower has proven to be so helpful that we have decided to merge it with the regular edition. Henceforth, there will be one version of the Watchtower, designed to be easily understandable to all. What a marvelous provision from Jehovah!"

April "Pioneers" - a large army
by dozy inanecdotally , from my ( rapidly diminishing number of ) jw contacts , it does seem that the april 30 hour pioneer campaign is going well.
some congregations have over 1/2 the publishers on the pioneer list for april , including all the elders & ms. .

In about 4 or 5 years, JWs will reach their saturation point with "30 hour auxiliary pioneering" and the participation rate will hold steady at about 20-25%.
By then, it will be time to offer up the "All New, Spirit Enhanced Pioneer Program." Commitment? 15-20 hours a month.
Just a few decades ago, all JWs were expected to put 10 hours month in FS. It won't be a surprise if they eventually come full circle and make that the aux pio minimum. It's just another corporation downsizing with the times. With shrinking growth, they are designing a leaner, meaner organization.

80% Accept Blood Transfusion
by Marvin Shilmer in80% accept blood transfusion.
i added a new article on my blog citing a 1995 medical study finding something interesting about blood transfusion and young folks among jehovahs witnesses.
the study shows that at least 80% (5 out of 6) accept allogeneic red blood cell transfusions or else their witness parents accept it on their behalf and without need of court-order.

freedom: Not surprising. In this, dubs are like Catholics who practice birth control.
I am convinced the WT's fluid blood policy over the past couple of decades was initiated on purpose so they could muddy the waters enough that in time, the whole blood transfusion controversy would no longer be an issue. That way, the WTS could avoid owning their huge mistake and potentially paying off major lawsuits. Seems to be working for them.

10,000 Pages of Life Saving Information
by willyloman inwell, ok, maybe half of it is fluff, but still..... just noticed that we rolled past the 10,000-page mark on jwn.
what a remarkable achievement this forum is, started by simon and ang and supported by the various mods and the thousands of people who have posted their experiences and shared their wisdom since it all began nearly 10 years ago.
i can trace my successful exit directly to this site and the sage advice i received and applied.. the wts claims to be doing a "life-saving work.

Thanks, snow, for bumping this.
I still remember when this forum was so tiny you could spend an afternoon and read every single post on every page. Of course, that was nine years ago. I think JWN is so popular because it's a kind of underground railroad for escaped WT slaves making a run for it.

Credit the HLC boys for much of this. They are alleged to be in position to make sure JWs follow the Society's rules about blood transfusions, which is true. What most dubs don't know is that the WTS' "rules" on blood are in a state of constant change and subject to a good deal of personal interpretation.
HLC elders will often lay out all the "alternatives" to dub patients, which leads many to assume that the alternatives are viable and up to one's conscience (and they are). Naturally, when a medical issue is labeled "a conscience matter" and your life is at stake, your conscience will generally move towards survival. The result is, according to an HLC elder, that about 98% of hospitalized dubs he talks to subsequently sign up for any and all available options associated with blood transfusion when learning (often for the first time) that the Watchtower says they may be permissible.
Where minor children are concerned, the HLC takes a hands-off approach (the hospital makes sure they do). I believe this leads to a lot of JWs opting for passive resistance - i.e., just wait for the court order and go along. That way, little Johnny gets the medical management he needs to live and, hey, what can you do?

Aude:
News stories get edited throughout the news cycle. There could be any number of reasons for rewriting this to generalize the identity of the religious pamphlet distributor. Another editor might have left it in. I'm a former newspaper editor so I know how this works and that was how it struck me. I can tell you one thing for sure: It was not edited out because someone from the outside asked them to.
A basic rule in the news biz has always been: asking the editor to change what ran in the paper is the surest way to make sure it does not get changed. They're very proprietary about this and see themselves as arbiters. They don't respond well to outside editing requests and would be especially immune to such a request from the elders of a congregation of an obscure religious group.

Did I handle this okay?
by headisspinning ini finished 'crisis of conscience'... i am just reeling.
if any one book has changed my life, then this one is definitely it.
it's incredible really - two weeks ago i was so confused and disturbed and felt like my whole life had been turned on it's end but that book made such a difference for me.

I liked your reply a lot. When you love someone but there's an issue that comes between you, often the best thing to do is to love them around it. It's sounds like you understand that. In time, and with luck (oops, I mean fortune) perhaps your parents will learn the same thing.
With C of C, I've learned that the book won't be appreciated unless and until the reader has developed some doubts and has nagging questions about the veractity of "The Truth." So, right now, love is the most powerful tool you can use.
