[title revised] "Spare The Rod..." in scripture?

you know, the other day i found myself in a 'uh?

' moment when i heard something that i never knew and/ or was led to believe in order to behave accordingly.

so i did a search (go figure.

Pardon me while I stand on my soap box for a second.

Today's society has taken this stand that discipline is a bad thing. I don't mean beating the hell out of kids, but general correction, etc. Our teachers are afraid to give correction lest the offended parent come storming in demanding a reason why their poor little Susie or Johnny has been corrected. We now have a whole generation of parents who think their kids can do no wrong and heaven help anyone who dares correct their little perfect darlings. What ever happened to "it takes a whole village to raise a child"?

In my day we didn't have kids gunning down other students and themselves. A little smack on the behind is just what today's kids need and maybe the parents too, Call me an old fogie, but my kids (who DID get a pop or two) have grown up well adjusted, not on Prozac, graduated college, two from med school, one raising great well behaved grand kids (who I can assure you get a pop on the backside should it be necessary) and I didn't kill any of them, nor ever needed to.

So now let me get down off my soap box, I have to go throw up,

Elders Threaten To Tow Elderly Sister's Car For Parking In Handicapped Area

my mother told me that an 81 year old sister was told that if she was not legally handicapped and had the plate to prove it----the police could come into the parking lot and have her car towed!

when she mentioned that there are more spaces available and not used and that she regularly transports another handicapped person that does not drive, they reiterated the same comments about it being against the law to park her car there and that she could get fined , ticketed and towed......so, she stayed home the next meeting.

now, she's going to ask her "unbelieving, worldy" husband who is also in his 80's if he'd be willing to give her and her friend a ride, especially as the weather will get worse and her eyes are not very good to begin with.......interesting, huh?

Actually the elders were doing a good thing (for a change) to protect her from a ticket. In this state it's a $150 fine for the first offense. You must display a hang tag from your mirror indicating that you have the proper handicap permit. I doubt the elders would call the police, but who knows. Here the police have a special detail assigned to look for handicap parking scoflaws.

I was the president of the corporation that owns the local KH until I resigned as an elder about 2.5 years ago. There was no provision for the WTS to own the KHall property. The local corporation was made up of elders and ministerial servants. Provisions were made for the replacement of officers in the case of death or as in my case resignation. The WTS was never mentioned in any of the corporate documents or on the deed. There is no way that the WTS could come in and take over ownership of the property unless the local congregation agreed.

I have been in a number of congregations and served on the boards of several of the corporations. The above mentioned procedure was in effece in all cases that I personally know.

How can I get my JW publisher card back from those $%* JERKS!

i've heard stories of people finding a way to get their publisher card back... is it possible?

if so, how can i get mine back?

i want to know what those pricks have written in there.

The Bethel CIA (AKA Service Dept.) has moved to fancier digs at Patterson. Files, upon files, upon files. They have stuff going back forever on lots of people. Especially if they have it in for someone. I understand now that if someone writes in, the document is immediately scanned and any thing else written by the same person is immediately available for recall and review. Haven't seen this in action myself, just read a branch report from someone about it. Big Mother is watching.

Per instructions from Bethel CIA (AKA Service Dept.) all records and letters are to be kept locked at the KH. Confidential records, committee cases are to be kept under lock as well. Elders are not supposed to have them in their homes. Elders serving on committees are to turn in their notes on the case at the end of each meeting to the committee chairman. Once the case is concluded all extraneous notes are to be destroyed. Only exception is publisher cards, which may be kept by the Secretary.

Someday someone will get the US Branch for all the clandestine files they keep. The Brits have it right with the Data Protection Act.

ok - some of this may be personal and some may not want to answer - -i know there are loads of ex-elders and one or two serving elders on this board, there is at least onn ex-missionary on here also -- are there any ex cos dos branch -- there is obviously at laest 1 ex-bethelite -- can some one clue me in what "rank" sorry to use that phrase it truly angers me really -- are people who are able to speak on this board

The "highest rank" should be a publisher since elders are supposed to be servants not big shots. Of course we know the reality of it don't we?

anyone know of a good, simple, "only the facts ma'am" book on how to improve one's grammer and style?

any suggestions from the peanut gallery on things you notice which are grammatically incorrect in my growing legion of posts?
