Experience of new elders meeting format.....
by caspian injust to let you know that the s2 has come back from london with my deletion on it, so i expect it to be announced on thursday, it will be interesting to see how "my brothers and sisters" treat me.
anyway with regards to my experience to the new format of elders meetings.... some of you may be aware of the change to the format announced at the the elders seminar 2002 and in the subsequent letter, regarding the handling of an elder whose child has been involved in serious conduct.. basically the change is that a special elders meeting is held, where the elder is questioned by the body on why he thinks his child got into trouble?
was it his fault?

on my computer. They are written in a good old fashioned paper diary.
What if the WTBTS designed something to trawl all our computers for apostate ids?
Someone is clever enough to do that. After all, there's now software that uses your
computer without your knowledge for cnet and other purposes.

questions about 1975 and other dates
by Leander inmy wife and i were discussing the date of 1975 earlier this week and she basically was of the opinion that the individuals who thought the end was coming in that year came up with the date based on their incorrect assesment of published information.
i replied that would it make sense for thousands of people across the continent to sell their homes and all of their valued possesions if they really had the slightest doubt that armageddon was not coming in 1975. she did'nt have an answer for that retort but still she insisted that somehow these people must have made a mistake in their judgement.
so for those of you who may have lived through the 1975 fiasco and those who have in-depth knowledge about the events that took place in that year maybe you can answer a few questions for me.. how widespread was the belief that 1975 was the year of armageddon?

Before the days when assembly talks were from manuscript, and brothers were monitored for deviations therefrom,
COs DOs Elders, you name it gave talks hammering 1975 into our brains.
"Armaggeddon will be over and done with by 1975"
"Children now at kindergarten will never graduate from High School"
"Well, Brothers, only eight years nine months and five days to go"
"Jehovah's Witlessness have been right so often in the past, if they say Armaggeddon may come in 1975, why should we doubt it Brothers."
There is a website "Quotes-jehovahswitnesses" or"Jehovahswitnesses-quotes which catalogs all their date setting from 1881, right through 1914,1915,1917,1919,1925 etc...
There is no editorial comment, just the WTBTS own words. Probably why they asked Kindumb Hell libraries to send old publications back to Bethel.

Interestingly in Studies from the Scriptures ( I have them) Russell suggested that evolution could have produced the species according to natural laws, with the exception of Man (cause that would make the whole ransom business a vast cosmic joke.)

Ever been conned by smallprint? Dixons/Currys Coverplan
by Brummie ini brought a top of the range lexmark 73 printer/scanner/copier about a year and half ago and got it covered by coverplan mastercare.
it cost me approx 230. .
the coverplan insurance told me that if it broke down i would get full cover for parts and labour or a brad new top of the range printer.. it broke down and without even looking at it coverplan told me to "throw it away" and they will send me vouchers to replace the value.

I want to kick myself for not reading more carefully. At least these people give you the chance to find out what you are agreeing to before an irrevocable comittment.
WBTS does't tell you anything much before it is too late to avoid losing your family and friends.
I read everything very carefully now and yess, the extended warranty arrangement on a credit card is worth using.
