by GetBusyLiving inlately i've just been getting contacted quite a bit by depressed zombie like cultist's.
i thought i would welcome being contacted by dubs after i da'ed but i actually really find it annoying!
they all drop comments like "nothing ever changes.." "i don't really go to the meeting's that much.." "i'm just so bored.." "if i didn't have meetings i could go back to school" "brother shitbag is a jerk.. i'm so sick of him.." "the elders treat me like a child" blah blah blah.

Julia, this is just gross. How are you able to sit through it? I remember the times I'd be at the Kh, listening to this kind of stuff, I wanted to crawl out of my skin. It doesnt change, same stuff as 20 years ago.

Whats the deal with fading.
by mtbatoon ini'm not trolling here or trying to upset, i'm not attacking anyone personally or trying to force my opinion on others but having read a lot of people experiences on leaving the org i really can not understand the point of fading.
i understand that people risk losing contact with family members and friends but really what type of friend and how good a family member are they if they are willing to shun you for not holding the same beliefs?.
a bit of background might be in order here.

I faded, and am glad I did it this way. Although yes, it brings with it, it's own set of problems, for me personally, it still beats the alternative. Simply put, I wanted my parents in my life.
Mtbatoon, are you df'd or da'd? Cuz if you're not, then you are also fading... Whether it's a quick break or a slow process, its still a fade.

Jourles, I agree with you. I think many parents feel pressured by the elders, and would likely make the right decision, if the brothers weren't at the hospital to "encourage" them.

The Watchtower Makes Up New Rules As They Go Along
by minimus inone thing you can say about the leaders of the watchtower----they simply do as they please.
whenever they want to make up a new rule to impose upon the helpless "sheep", they simply tell you this is how it is from now on.
for example you could've been a witness and at the same time been a smoker, but in the early 70's, "new light" said that those who smoked actually were involved with the demons!

It all gets confusing doesn't it? I used to work somewhere where we had a dragon lady for a supervisor. She was constantly changing rules and procedures, peoples work stations, work responsibilities. We never knew whether we were coming or going.
Everyone said she kept us confused, as a way to keep her power/control. Same with the WTS, they try to keep everyone lost and confused with all these changes, that are either published or not, so that they keep their power.

My Dad
by Crumpet injust a wee update on my current tentative drawing out of my family.
i sent a letter, which not coincidentally was timed to arrive on fathers day weekend just gone.
its the first letter i've sent in 8 years to my family and whilst i was careful to avoid any mention of religion i did talk about how happy i was generally and mentioned how nice it is that i see so much of my inlaws who despite living 800 miles away make regular visit to us at least 3 or 4 times a year.
