have any of you ever been faced with a gun at the door?
most of us have at one time or another heave of gun stories.
i was faced with this twice.
Amazing when I get the cash I'll have to fly out your way for a real visit....The price of the ticket would be paid in full listening to all the life stories you've accumulated
No guns for me...just dogs...lots and lots of dog stories...Got knocked down by a Great Dane once and another time by a Newfoundland dog...those huge black ones.

he was mauled and critically injured when a tiger mauled his neck and arm.

my brother (who works in london) has just scanned in and sent me viz magazine with the new character - and he said "what i thought was funny though was it showed all jw's as radio controlled robots acting like the borg" my question is -- if you criticize jws the ywill refuse to listen --but is it just possible with humor like this -- it might just make them think --- so most young witnesses listen to rock music -- but do you think that humor can help bring about the demise/reform of the wtbts
I always found with TV and cartoon humour dubs always viewed it as good publicity because it got Jehovah's name mentioned. No matter how stupid it made the dubs look.

it's about the amish custom of rumspringa, in which children are allowed total freedom for one year when they turn 16. unprepared for the real world, they have a year of debauchery and end up in all kinds of trouble (anybody remember that old jw parable about pulling a rubber band so tightly that when you finally let go it flies across the room?

As a sex deprived dub if I would have known that the sex you have in the first year of marriage was supposed to last the rest of your life I would have spread it out a little more evenly.

my wife and i were df'd about six months ago as apostates after our combined 88 years in the organization (i love borrowing wt methods of making figures impressive).
if it were not for the wt perhaps i would have gone to college as i had planned instead of to bethel for six years.
perhaps i would have started my business a decade earlier in life rather than spend ten years in the 'fulltime preaching work'.

You had your life long partner and friend beside you to help..I envy you for that. From what I've seen on the forum that is not the be all and end all of breaking free and retuning to a happy state but it sure helps the process..tremendously.

Holy crap Perry was it all that beating that turned you into a pirate...
I got a few beatings...not as bad as Perry...most of the time it was verbal...My MS dad saying stuff like your no FKing good for nothing....If you can't do it right get the FK out of my way....stuff like that. God help you if you spilled somthing or even worse broke something he'd yell and sream at you for what seemed an eternity. He had literaly beat the stuffin out of my brothers but where I was the only one left he only hit me occasionaly.

one of the only elders i knew that i truly thought was a wonderful person is my father.

I can honestly say from my experience most of the elders were for the most part good and caring people...On the other hand so far all the elders I've met are also blind guides..towing the company line thinking that they are protecting Gods flock and representing truth...
at times, we get suspicious that a poster could be a watchtower mole or a person just trying to gather information and present it to bethel.
