Being an International delegate is to receive the VIP treatment. They all trade goodie bags with bookmarks that have their picture or congregation photo on it. It's like their version of Christmas cards.

it's hard to believe that they are now using the kingdom hall to sing pop songs and for dancing.

THE CURRENT FADING OF BRAND NAME "THE WATCHTOWER"
by steve2 inthe current fading of brand name "the watchtower" & the rise, rise, rise of jw.org.
the watchtower as brand name is in the process of being imperceptibly faded from visibility in the organization.
who'd have thought you could make a watchtower fade and disappear?

JW.org is catchier, unknown, and slicker than "watchtower". I agree with your post, change of name doesn't draw the same associations as the previous name does. It's the modernized version, much like KFC or saying Mickey D's. For a religion, they are using advertising methods to get more people.

How much punishment can WT take
by joe134cd inin some ways i just have to admire wt for the amount of crap they can take and despite this can keep it from the r&f, and still keep coming up smelling of roses.
you think about all the dramas they have had and can yet still keep showing an increase - all be it in internet deprived developing countries.
but even still an over all increase is still an increase.

It is quite amazing how they've been able to keep many members in the dark about all this. It's a small religion in comparison to others, so what they do doesn't get as much attention as say the Catholic church. 3rd world countries tend to turn to religion as a way of comfort and living, developed countries don't as much since there's wealth, education, information, less problems, and other factors that take away from religion.

JW Kids Who Lack Sincerity: Are You In The Flipping Truth Or Not?
by Apognophos indid any of you know a jw youth who didn't seem to really even try to be sincere about the "truth"?
not someone who led a double life while pretending to be a goody-goody jw.
i mean the kind of kid who went to the meetings and did field service while making minimal effort at maintaining a pretense of being a true believer?.

I was a lot like that, still am. Now it's not such a big deal knowing ttatt. I do the minimum effort, go to meetings, go to service some saturdays of the month only because of my parents and family. Before knowing ttatt I believed in it but not to the extend of having enough care or motive to do more, I didn't enjoy it much. I always tend to day dream at meetings and field service isnt very fun. I didn't become a publisher until I was 19, 20 being raised in this religion- pretty old age. But I didn't lead a double life doing bad things. What other alternative is there when you're raised in it and that's all you know?

How to plant the seed and create some serious cognitive dissonance??
by Bells inhey :).
for a while, i've sort of been wondering why i always check in with this board... i mean it's filled with great people of course - and is my only link to what's happening in the jw world, but i shouldn't care that much... i'm not a jw, neither is my husband - it's only his batshit crazy family who are and it shouldn't bother me that much.. however it does interfere with my life and when i'm around them, they do somehow manage to make me feel like crap.
i think it's all mad and they are most definitely stuck in a cult, however my husband - who grew up as a jw just sort of shrugs his shoulders and is a bit 'it is what it is' - it doesn't seem to offend him as much as it does me.... every time that i hear about a new change or scandal on here, i think 'surely this will be what wakes them up'!

What do they say or talk about to you? How do they respond? Some information you can give may help to find ways to tackle. I think evidence is important rather than just saying. It's more convincing to read the information whether it be a letter or watchtower or document. But that may spark suspicion since you were never a JW. You could always talk about disagreeing with the blood doctrine or point out how it's illogical. Doctrines that dont have a full biblical meaning but connected with outside information gives a chance in battle. Patience and time can take to reason.

The widow example is twisting scripture. as crazyguy said, it was an observation. Plus no one required her to put in the coins, it's just what was going on. i think asking the elders to read the biblical passages is a lot more convenient than them just paraphrasing or summarizing to get a feel of the context. But to stay calm and not arouse suspicion, there isn't much that can be done.
and numbers are important- that's is one factor that is looked into to give people privilages and to climb up the ranks. Not enough hours, you don't qualify.

Pointless Speculation
by konceptual99 ini've noted a few people aluding to a rumour that there will be a "big announcement"(tm) that will "shock some"(tm) later this year, probably around agm time.. in the interests of pointless speculation, what might this be?
i am sure we can all think of some outlandish possibilities but i am interested in what could have some possibility of actually happening.. for example,.
- sisters able to do some aspects of ms roles.. - regional conventions (nee.

Maybe 1914 may have a slight change? That's my guess at least, I could be wrong. The best time to bring in "new light" or something new of importance would be that assembly that will take place in November, when it will be broadcasted to kingdom halls in different countries.

This was a good read, traces things back from the start of the internet and the loyalist vs dissenter wars. The Watchtower has seen how the internet has had a great affect in it, something they can't censor. They're best strategy is to fight back which is what they've been doing. But who knows how long this strategy will work. It's only a matter of time until the website has lost it's high peak and floats down to a certain number of average of viewers. Right now jw.org is being pushed not just on Witnesses but the public so it's numbers will go up, not to mention the millions of Witnesses that use it to get their literature from. It's the best shot they have.
type in JW.org on google, top result is that website but scrolling down you find JWsurvey and then JWfacts.
by the way, what ever happened to H2O? I've heard about it before on this website.
