The over dramasizing (i hope that's the right word) of Satan and the demons. I lived in fear of them for years. Poor kids growing up with that sht.

Idiotic WT reasoning for birthdays
by Batman89 inadditionally, birthday celebrations tend to give excessive importance to an individual, no doubt one reason why early christians shunned them.
(ecclesiastes 7:1) so you will find that jehovahs witnesses do not share in birthday festivities (the parties, singing, gift giving, and so forth).
school and jehovah's witnesses p.18.

Why don't the jdubs just ban "fun" and be done with it.
What about the "experiences" at the assemblies. That is giving undue attention to an individual. Ban clapping after a public talk. Ban the year book.
Etcetera etcetera etcetera........

Just letting you know I passed the exam
by will-be-apostate inhi, my apostate friends.. a couple of weeks ago i asked for some advice regarding studying methods.
then some of you asked me to let you know my score after i take the exam at mineralogy.. i scored 90%.
i'm pretty happy with it because the exams i take are not in my native language.. if i keep up with the good scores i might get a scholarship and then bye bye watchtower society.

ONE REASON
by snare&racket inout of interest, and to formulate a cordial chat, would you give your top one reason for your belief or non belief?.
my foremost 'one reason' for non belief is:.
the historical evidence that provides an explination and timeline for how the modern religious doctrine's and dogma developed over time.. .

Unbalanced way of thinking?
by msconcerned inso, one hot beautiful (not a cloud in the sky) kind of summer day, there was an elder who decided to re shingle his house.
this was on the book study day.
he started early and got all the shingles off of the roof in time for the book study that night.

Has anyone ever saved another persons life?
by LogCon ini don't mean you advised them and they changed their lives around, kind of saving a life.. i mean right before your eyes, right now, you had to do something to save a person or they would be dead.. how did it make you feel?
did it have any affect on you?.
forty years ago i was working on a construction site and a back-hoe had loosened a large boulder.

Brilliant thread.
Really made me think about how any of us can make a difference in this world. A bit of care and keeping our eyes open for others.

It's highlighted how, even mentally disabled people, have a sense of fair play. Sweet.

How about a bit of reverse psychology??
Tell yourself you cannot fall asleep until, say midnight but you can close your eyes. It works for me when I wake up in the early hours.
Chamomile tea. Valerian tablets or a nice single malt can work well. I also keep a pad and pen on the bedside table, to jot down anything that needs to be done or is bothering me.
Sweet dreams.
