i don't get to check in here or comment as often as i would like because i have been working so hard at school...but i just have to share my news in hopes that newbees can see that taking the leap to enroll in higher education is worth it-.
i am graduating this spring with a bachelor degree in art history, minor anthropology...many people (including nonjw's have given me flack for choosing a "dead end" career path) but since leaving the watchtower organization's group-think mentality and "leaning on my own understanding" instead... i decided to say fuck everyone else's opinion...i am going to pursue my passion to work in a museum as a curator or archivist-.
Good for you, princess. We are so proud of you.
It makes my spirits soar when I hear of these success stories. People building lives away from the WT and being happy.
My husband is also a keen historian and theologian but he was made to feel bad when we attended meetings.

I am hoping my hubby gets a new job and we can move away. Not because of the JW's but because I want to move to a new area. I really enjoy getting to know new places, faces and having new routines.
I have thought of complaining to the supermarket but as LV101 said, I would'nt want anyone to lose their job etc...I could write a note to each of them who shun me (a total of 3 women) and tell them that their behaviour is unacceptable and I would have every right to inform the company of this. That might make them think twice. I believe this is called "incitement of religous hatred" or similar, and is taken VERY seriously by the authorities in the UK.
I shall shake the dust from my feet and carry on. She has to go to the KH this morning and I DON'T!!!!! Freedom.

I was just in my local supermarket getting some odds and ends. Locked eyes with a sister (elder's wife), who was working in there and she practically looked down her nose at me. It really hit me in the guts.

7 years ago i started on a path i had long ago given up on as impossible.
i met with my elders and told them i could not justify carrying on as a jw.
i went and got my high school qualifications and my higher education diploma (a levels with distinction) in just 12 months.
