  think about this: if seven times mean only 7 years then daniel could have simply said 7 years.

  why does daniel specifically use the word 'times' rather than years?

  I'd appreciate some insight on what my mother claims was said at assembly

  okay, well my mother called this evening and was all emotional about her one day assembly.

  i was shocked she brought it up, as we just do not mention the religion anymore, but lately little things keep getting said at her conventions and assemblies that seem to be making this line something she wants to cross more these days.

  what she brought up, was something i had not heard mentioned on here and i wanted some insight from people who actually heard it or knew more about it.

  I buy it that something to that effect was said, but I don't buy that anything has changed with the dubs and preaching. 8 or 9 years ago the assemblies, circuit and special, as well as Pioneer meetings had parts with presentations and experiences that all referred to the preaching as a "gleaning" work because of the rarity of bible studies.

  This word "gleaning" took hold for about a year with lots of speculation amongst those who actually listen and take notes (LOL) as an indication that the "work" was slowing. Then we had a zone visit with a hard hitting talk that dispelled the rumors. Something to the effect of "we are in the center of the harvest, great influx of new ones" etc etc.

  So if this information is true, that is likely part of the spin here. Dub elders can say whatever they want up there. We have all seen it and heard it happen. You will never hear a retraction and any damage control will be behind the scenes. There is also the aspect of doing crap like this just to get a reaction from the rank and file. They love twisting everyone up in knots, CO's, DO's & elders especially.

  There was someone years ago on H2O that pushed his/her "report". "JW's are God's modern day wayward nation....yadayadayada"

  Not many responded to their posts as I recall.

  It is a cry for help from people who can't admit they made a mistake and were fooled by a false prophet/christ. They cannot bring themselves to let go. To reconcile their belief that the dubs are Gods one true people, they have adopted the view that they are Gods one true "apostate" people. What gives? Like a venture stock that has been proved a fraud beyond a shadow of doubt, but there are die hards who just won't see it.

  Their claims of insight and a fresh perspective on scripture are pathetic.

  (Galatians 1:6) I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel.
