If all we do is keep one of these security types (you know the ones who weren't allowed to go to Police academy) from hearing the sessions it is time and effort well spent.

( a day ago) - so a couple of witnesses were talking and i heard one mention that he was on the "security" group of dubs for his convention.
they all had to meet early to discuss the barrage of "evil slave" class coming in and handing out cards with apostate information and also to watchover the restrooms, cause the "evil slave" likes to put flyers and stuff in there as well.
there was mentioning of how they would handle those ones.... just a note of encouragement, i guess, but it seems as if you ex-dubs that try and release the other actives, definitely are having an impact in some ways.. .

what purpose does it serve?
it just seems to polarize people and ostracize those who aren't ready or willing to label it a cult.
anyone can look up the dictionary definition of a cult (or experts' definitions).
However, I don't think applying the label is therapeutic for many people and in fact pushes them away from working on mental recovery further. The word makes them feel they are apostates, demonized, betrayers, who must be internally flawed in order to have been a victim of a cult.
Naturally our best efforts are served by avoiding language that puts up a barrier to helping someone out of the Jdubs.
This kind of courtesy can be employed initially in dealing with certain people but in time depending on how that is going, the message may need to get more blunt as AlanF said. It was necessary for me to shake out of the mind control. When he told me I was in a cult I denied it but at the same time acknowledged that certain dubs made the religion like a cult by the way they acted. Eventually I saw it was actually part of the construct/design of the religion from the top down.
Likewise those who believe in the bible and/or Jesus who feel that we must always be on some "Higher Road", pussy footing around the issues, are simply forgetting that Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple with whips, called the religious leaders liars and sons of the devil, whitewashed graves and offspring of vipers! Paul wanted those making trouble to be castrated and called them all sorts of names throughout his letters as well.
If those two people are considered examples of how to conduct ourselves, then we do well to ask what holds us back from following that example in this area
I say, "walk softly but carry a big stick!"

my birthday is coming up in a month.
i'm 35 and i'm so depressed about turning 36. i've heard people really get down when they were turning 25, 30, and other ages but non of my birthday's bothered me this much until now.
turning 36 is so depressing and i think it's because here i am single again trying to now start my career, my credit, my whole life over.
I am like Peggy. I hit a wall at 30. I was depressed and even wept at times. I couldn't explain it or what was going on until my wife told me that she heard some people go through this when they hit 30 or 40 or whatever. It is almost subconsious! Now 15 years later, I enjoy every day as a gift! Thank you Multiverse!!!
As far as BumbleBee and Delilah are concerned, hey, you gals aren't getting older, you're getting better!

if woman are the weaker ones(for lack of better words) why is it that they seem to be the ones that mostly believe before their husbands?????
?.
(2 Timothy 3:6-7) . . .For from these arise those men who slyly work their way into households and lead as their captives weak women loaded down with sins, led by various desires, 7 always learning and yet never able to come to an accurate knowledge of truth.
An argument could be made that it was predicted how cults would get their support.
True or not statistically, women seem to hold onto and carry guilt more readily. This makes them easier targets of "these men" as the scripture above shows.
We found that many women had secret emotional affairs with the elders and/or the image of the GB. Dissatisfaction with their own husbands or experiences with men leads some women to fall in love with the fantasy men presented to the congregation as "superior, elders, CO's etc". Even those who married a dub man who did not "reach out" could and did form these attachments.

anytime i hear one of my family members or any other jw say the phrase "the truth" in a sentence it makes my blood boil.
christians of different denominations may ask each other: .
"how long have you been a christian?".
I cannot recall which books reveal that this expression along with "The Way" are used to train the members that they are exclusively the ones who know "the Truth". But this is common and I believe even the Moonies use it.
Read through some of the cult books and you will find it is commonly used. There are "Twisted Scriptures" about one woman's journey through an abusive and controlling religious group. (She never mentions JW's in the book but you will think it is about JW's if you were one) and then "The Subtle Power of Spiritual Abuse" about mainstream American Christianity where cultish practices are used by many groups and leaders. Terminology is very similar to JW's in these groups as you will see.
Very good read! I recommend them highly!

i was watching this documentary on the various galaxies and it stated that the universe is still expanding, planets are being created as we speak.
it also detailed some of the planets within our solar system and some beyond it and speculated how some were favorable for habitation and that some show evidence of having a water supply.
what do you believe about the universe?
That it is wrongly named. It is more likely that we live in a Multiverse.

as promised here is all of the info regarding what has been going on.
per the last jc with the elders i realized that all i had done was buy time.
they felt that we should be df'ed right on the spot, but because i made a plea to wait for a letter coming back from the wts they decided to hold on taking such action.

I am sure you are glad it is over. Enjoy your freedom bro!

growing up, we were only allowed to associate with our jw side of the family, over the past 10+ years i have been getting closer to my "worldly family' all i have to say is man i didn't know i had such loving, normal family.
it was a little too late when i started to visit my grandfather, he died shortly after my attempts to connect.
however, it was really weird at first, getting to know cousins, aunts and uncles who i've always had such limited contact with, i feel really pissed off about it, i have such a great family that i missed out on, i am now writing once a week to my uncle who is in iraq, and trying to keep contact with everyone, and even meet some cousins who i never met before, but i feel like someone who arrived late to the party.. does anyone else have the same kind of story?
Does anyone else have the same kind of story?
Sure do!
Just came back from a week of visiting my extended non JW family on the West coast of Canada. I sure missed out on the best side of the family all of these years.
Lots of unconditional love there and even enough to go around for us. It was such a relief and change from the cold shoulder and condemnation from my JW relatives. Most of whom have never even enquired why we left the religion! Too scared to! Some faith they have.
The "worldly" relatives all felt so powerless over the years trying to maintain contact with my parents and one aunt who was a zealot. Always biting their tongues knowing that any outspokenness about the JW cult would be met with being totally cut off.
We will be seeing a lot more of them!
After hearing about how all of my family have treated us, any doubt about the JW's being a cult has totally disappeared!
What a Witness against God these false Christ's are!

this has always been my opinion, even as a 'loyal' jw!
i thought that elders were idiots.
i have only ever known one who has ever had any real education, a solicitor and he was an arrogant twonk, the rest were a pathetic bunch of bullies who 'appeared' to be loving and kind but were infact out to find out the shit about everyone and cause as much trouble for everyone as possible.
Frank and Undercover - It may well be then that the 'idiocy' that we see in the behaviour of elders is simply due to the idiocy of what is being asked of them. Following the chain of command therefore, the real cause of this is as so many others have said the top....the Governing Body.
The GB has no compassion, or real compassion for any of the flock. All that matters is that THEY are obeyed exclusively and without question, no matter how ridiculous their present doctrine. To question is to 'die'. No wonder elders behave so unlovingly.
Gill:
All of these comments above are valid including yours quoted here. I like the white collar comment too as it illustrates well what happens when a good ol boy gets promoted to the front office and then winds up back in the factory. Sure you can blame the guy for his actions, but he was just doing his job.
It is the same corporate structure that WT has created that puts people in a position to judge. Jesus said, "Judge not!"
At the same time, Paul foresaw that wolves would devour God's sheep. Whether we believe the bible or not, it is true what he said. Structure or not, these elders (and religious leaders thru the ages) are the ones with blood on their teeth and human flesh in their stomachs.
Rotten fruit indeed.
