  my dad's an elder and has been for many years.. .

  i did my senior paper on intelligence tests...i dont trust them personally, theyve got bad history. i had to take one when i was 7 to gget into GATE.

  my parents invited me and my hubby to attend the convention with them this sunday and go out to dinner afterward.

  i told my dad i didn't feel like going but thanks for the invite.

  later my mom called with the same question.

  in a way im glad the wts has hinted that mobile phones are expensive, time wasting, immoral devices.

  anything to reduce the number of people shouting into plastic blocks on public transport gets my vote.

  however they go as far as to assume that young people who have one will use it to talk to members of the opposite sex!

  Did you lose respect for your parents because of the JW / Watchtower crap ?

  this is probaly one of my biggest problems i dealt with growing up in the jw crap.. it's no fun growing up alone.. i am sorry, but i hated my parents (probaly from the time i was 13), i know that is mean and a terrible thing to say, but that's how i felt.

  i had no respect for them growing up in the borg.

  they taught me nothing about ................. having a relationship/dating.

  i didnt utterly resent my parents for believeing in the JW stuff. i resented them for not allowing me to dissent, for forcing me to censor my own thoughts. i felt like i grew up without them really knowing me. my mom's still a jw and so is my stepdad, but now that i'm not forced to believe the same garbage they do, i have a great relationship with them, and my mom is awesome, she's basically one of my best friends (we just dont talk about religion EVER), and having that distance allowed me to really appreciate my stepdad too, he's a far better dad than my own father ever was or will be. i disagree with the way they raise their remaining children, but it's out of my hands.

  Love-Trademark of the christians?

  all of you who have a little bit more than usual objective view of the religions.what have you noticed while observing the way how the parishioners of different churchers are showing love toward their fellowbelievers .is there any difference compared to jt's.i know that wts is boasting that the true and genuine love exists only among themselves.i don' t know exactly what a hell this means?one argument i have been told is that the door-to door preaching is one evidence of christian love ( far - fethed , i think ).

  what about at the congregational level?.

  any feedback?

  before you go thinking that this is a 'minimus'-type thread, the title i have chosen is the title from the august 15, 2003 watchtower.. the photos on the cover are of a young man (22ish).

  in the lower-left corner he is a basketball player.
