  in the last couple of days ive been reading info on the un & wts ...so have been pretty absorbed with the amount of info out there on the wts...

  anyway...it hasnt been that long since i left the wts...and a close friend of mine (never a witness) said to me ,twice now, and rather strongly again today...

  "its over, you have left, get over it...your obsessed with this, who cares, just get over it before it drives you mad...its really pathetic"

  My boyfriend says the exact same thing. i think it's hard for people to understand how deeply it can affect you if theyve never been a part of something like this. please dont think your feelings about this are not legitimate. they are. you are justified in needing time to heal.

  i was doing some research and noticed that the baptism questions were changed several times over the years.

  the questions in 1973 were as follows: *** w73 5/1 280 baptizing follows discipling *** if you feel the same about serving jehovah god and taking christs yoke upon you, we suggest that you consider the following two questions, which are asked of candidates for baptism:.

  (1) have you repented of your sins and turned around, recognizing yourself before jehovah god as a condemned sinner who needs salvation, and have you acknowledged to him that this salvation proceeds from him, the father, through his son jesus christ?

  ive been trying to tell my kids to be patient with the jws that they knew and with family that still are jws.

  especially when the shunning is in full force.

  i was excusing it as brain damaged because we couldnt reason with them or get through the mental block they have.

  seriously, i feel really lucky...aside from a few rotten apples, most of the jw's i grew up with were very decent people. when they were forced to shun disfellowshipped members of the congregation, they seemed genuinely torn apart by it. i think for the most part their intentions were good, their philosophy is just all screwed up.

  i'd say i probably trust people way more than i should. it's just hard for me not to assume that everyone has good intentions all of the time, i guess.
