Yep, several. One of them (at least,) has a child who posts here. I did not know about one of the pedophiles at the time, but my brother was quite close to him, with never a warning from anyone. One of the others was molesting his daughters who were close friends of mine, he tried stuff with me too but never got anywhere. I thought he was just "friendly," since I was never warned. Another one messed up all 5 of his kids severely, and was never df'd afaik. Another one had two kids, and I only heard about him after I left, though I wasn't surprised, and it sure explained a lot about THAT family. That doesn't even include the abusers who weren't sexual abusers, but "only" wife-beaters/child-beaters.

Did You Personally Know of Sex Offenders In The Congregation?
by minimus ini knew of 1 person that should've been reported to the authorities for fooling around with his sisters when he was an older teen and they were much younger.
it was hushed up by the elders, as this was considered a very prominent family.
the allegations were made probably 20 years ago, well before i was ever in that hall.

Why 6 Billion People Deserve to Die in Armageddon
by Leolaia injehovah is such a righteous, merciful, loving god -- slow to anger, overflowing with loving kindness and blessing.
yet it somehow bothers many of you that he will shortly execute his judgment on mankind and wipe out 99.9% of the world's population, as if that somehow is supposed to conflict with his loving qualities.
personally, i have no idea why many of you feel this way.

Funny how a JW can spend months cultivating interest and a "friendly relationship" with an RV, and in less than 2 minutes an xjw can explain why it's all a funhouse mirror. Good job!

Yup, "humbly submitting" means that I should not have warned the 'sister' from the Spanish Congregation that her 4 y.o. was sitting on the lap of a child rapist from the English Congregation. Nope, I guess I just didn't understand the elders' reasons for not wanting to protect an innocent child from being molested. It was a bad bad thing I did, telling that 'sister', and I'm glad I was 'lovingly disciplined' for revealing the child rapist.
Excuse me while I puke.
Speaking of 'submission,' this article explains the ridiculous conversation I had with my mother last week when she said that in the event that she and my father were medically incapacitated, my brother should make the medical decisions BECAUSE HE IS THE MAN! Not because he is the JW (blood), or because he has more medical comprehension (he doesn't), but because he has a penis.
I'm rolling my eyes so hard they may pop out.

Two (or more?) molesting siblings in the same household? Anyone want to take bets that either "Seth Sr" or some other adult member in that family was raping the boys too? Only one of several reasons I can think of why the parents won't listen.

Is is easier to fade if you are the husband or the wife?
by wings ini hope this brings up the "arrangement of submission" question to you.
as the wife of an unbeliveing husband, you submit to everything except the things that go against your service to jehovah.
as the husband of an unbeliving wife, you are kind and considerate and love her like yourself.

When we were both JWs, my husband became a very infrequent meeting attender. While they would sometimes ask me to "say Hi," the harrassment (phone calls, requests to pay a shepherding visit, etc,) didn't begin until I became infrequent in field service.
My husband is an introvert, was rather quiet before and after the meetings, and had no significant ties. I am, however, very extroverted, "well-connected," and was fairly reliable until nearly the end of our time there. When the elders have called over the last 4 - 5 years, they call me. While I understand this is common practice - to call the wife and appeal to her "emotionalism," it isn't particularly effective around here. The last person who called was told that if I explained why I wasn't involved, I was aware he would not "help" me, but rather convene a Judicial Committee. He protested that it wasn't so, and I let him know that I was quite familiar with Organizational Procedure (where's that little TM mark, lol!) and that I found it hard to believe what he was saying.
This was the second such conversation I had with the same man in the same year (C.O.,) so I don't feel too threatened, HAHA.
But I think if my husband had quit and I had kept on, there would have been very little action taken. It really depends on the couple. It's not that I was "so special," simply that I am the more "visible" person in the couple.

Freedom of Speech
by Scully inmy family has had an interesting evolution over the past few years of being exjws.. as jws, it didn't even occur to us to use profanity or vulgar language.
jehovah's witnesses don't speak that way - at least that's how i was brainwashed to believe - although i knew plenty of jws who do.. once we started experiencing the real world, it no longer seemed like such a crime (or sin, to be more precise) to say the occasional word that might get *bleeped* on tv.. after a while though, it grew old.
i started to feel that it wasn't my nature to talk that way, and using that language was not conducive to who i wanted to be as person and a professional.

They are talking about a legal concept: the constitutional guarantee of free speech. It doesn't apply to minor children, just as contracts, voting and other adult responsibilities do not. However, if I were trying to make the point of not using profanity, I would say that it's a lazy and ineffective way to express yourself. A well-executed speech, essay or rant is of far greater influence when words are chosen carefully and precisely to express an idea, than when a person resorts to cop-out words like F* or sh*!
But sometimes all you have in your head is an ugly, inarticulate thought. In those instances, nothing quite conveys your own mixed up angry frustration like a few loud curses. Kids are going to swear like sailors. Just teach them how to communicate effectively, and eventually the potty mouth will taper off.

Do you get "tired" of "Apostates/ex-jws" bashing the WT to you?
by booker-t ini know it is good to let out pent up anger for healing purposes, but do you ever get tired of some "apostates or ex-jws" constantly bashing the wt?
for instance when you or having lunch and all they do is say "the evil wt this the evil wt that" during the whole time you are at lunch?
sometimes i just don't feel like hearing it especially when i am at an event for fun.

I get tired of the tool, (whoever it is,) who keeps posting the same link crap to the JW lawsuits/employers/divorce cases on every blog that mentions JWs whether it is relevant or not. Just a drive-by splatterer who nearly always posts as "anonymous."
But that other stuff... meh, depends on what day it is.

Yep, Rhodes Scholar. Although, didn't someone reveal that he was only a Rhodes Scholar candidate? You actually have to follow through to be a R.S.. I was a National Merit/Presidential Merit Scholarship candidate, but due to zero follow-through (after all, Armageddon was coming, why waste time on scholarships and education?) never was an actual NM Scholar. Huge difference. In fact, I don't know if there is even a possibility I would have/could have won. Ol' Freddy had someone recommend him. But afaik, never was awarded the actual recognition. But in Dub-propaganda, it's all the same. "Fred Franz was a RHODES SCHOLAR, that means we know he's right because he was SMART!" hehe.
edit: damn. I'm slow. AA beat me to it. -

I have a bit of dirt/dust on my lens. I haven't cleaned it out of fear I'll scratch something. :( Don't know how to do it properly. I never worried about cleaning the lens on my cheap P&S. hehe.
