Blondie, you're one of the reasons I keep coming around this place. Nearly 4 years for me, and I think I've missed very few of your great reviews. I have better attendance here than I did at the Kingdumb Hall. It's a good thing you weren't conducting the real WT study (the brainwashy one,) I might never have gotten out of there without the excruciating boredom. We once had a C.O. admit that boring talks = low meeting attendance.

Baptisms being "annulled" - has anyone heard of this?
by misguided inlast weekend was a long weekend in bc, so i decided to try to get my family together for a camping trip.
i'm df''d so my parents can have no contact with me so refused my invitation.
my youngest brother was never baptized.

I suppose an argument could be made for annulling your baptism if you were baptized as a minor, then annul it immediately upon becoming a legal adult, with the argument that children cannot enter into their own binding contracts. But at most it would be a stall tactic, because baptism is a religious commitment, not a legal or business contract. Perhaps some people get away with it, since the elders are not law-trained.

:::At some point the mods are going to realize that he's only interested in a flame war and he will BWAHAHAHA his way to a ban.:::
I agree, I wonder why he's still here? I also notice how he answers "in order" only when he thinks he has an easy target, but the real debaters (of whom I have never claimed to be one,) he completely skips over, or simply put up line after tedious line of insults and provocation, without ever addressing the points of debate with logic and reason.
Vinny, in case you missed it, Posting Guidelines:
1. Insulting, threatening or provoking language
2. Inciting hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, nationality or sexuality or other personal characteristic.
5. Spamming -Please don't add the same comment to more than one forum.I wonder how much red there would be in Vinny's posts if a mod decides to edit out all the name calling and personal insults? Who cares if it's "not Christian," I have rarely seen a ruder, nastier person on these forums.

So... if I'm totally wrong (and lame) that it's NOT intellectual dishonesty for you to continue to insist that Einstein was a theist and a Christian, in the face of overwhelming evidence from Einstein's own mouth and pen to the contrary, what would you call it? Furthermore, why should it matter one whit how many intelligent people believe (or not) in a Christian God, if you are right, you should have no need for the logical fallacy of appealing to authority in order to bolster your arguments? As far as I know, "this smart guy believes it so it must be true," was never a particularly good tactic for presenting fact.

Sunday Notes at the District Convention An emotional plea to young ones
by truthseeker incontinue following me john 21:19. much of the program was similar to the previous two days.
the fact that jesus has appeared in almost every talk title suggests that the society is once again morphing its tactics to persuade more persons that they arent an old testament cult but an alternative christian denomination.. i repeat my previous assertion that there is a manipulative intelligence at work here.
no ordinary person could possible have such foresight and such knowledge of human behavior to think and write the things these watchtower writers do.

Vinny has already shown his intellectual dishonesty regarding the Einstein thing. He has repeatedly been shown actual quotes from Einstein that contradict what he claims Einstein to believe. Why should we expect intellectual integrity from him on any other topic? I guess that's what happens when you spend your life looking through the ass end of a keychain souvenir viewmaster.

lots of people on the board helped and supported me through that, as well as new non-witness friends that i made.

How do you think God feels about atheists? Angry? Amused?
by AlmostAtheist inhey guys, .
have you ever considered what god thinks about atheists?
assume for a moment that he/she/it is there: what's the reaction to non-believers?

Right. A supposed all-powerful creator of worlds, universal deity, omnipotent magical being cares whether we believe in him or not? That's like asking me how I feel about what the ants under my deck think of me: Am I amused that they blame me for the environmental issues caused to their nests by using treated lumber? Am I angry that they don't believe I love them? Am I proud of them for doing a damn fine job with their chewing?
Hey, unless they eat the deck and it falls down, I'm barely aware of their presence. Even if they eat the deck and it falls down, it's really only a thing that happened, I have no concern whatsoever with the individual ants, ant families, their community, burrows, or whether they studied their AntTower for the Sunday Special Chewssembly Day.

In Memorandum
by RichieRich init was the 14th of april last year that i had to sit my mother down and tell her i was an apostate.. i was closer to her than anyone else.
my father and mother are still married, but he let her raise me as a witness, and that meant it was me and mom.. me and mom in field service for 100 hours in july because she had to make her time as a regular pioneer.. me and mom fighting over what to bring for lunch to the district convention.. me and mom up late at night, when she would berate me, and then unload all her problems on to me.. me and mom and our 4 hour family studies, where we discuss 2 paragraphs of a random book, and then she would browbeat me until early in the morning.. somehow, through all that, i pretended to be a witness for years, just to appease her.
looking back, i don't know if i loved her, or if i was just afraid of her.

I think he DID survive it very well without Jehovah's help. He deserves the credit, not the god of that abusive little cult. Why is it that when someone survives something through their own determination and strength of character, some people will try to take it away by saying "you couldn't have done it without god"?

Oh man, Amanda KICKS ASS! If you're interested in Infinity, you should go into the shop and check them out. Paul's portfolio is amazing too. Alice did both of mine, but I have to go back in for more detail on the second one. It was 95+ degrees the day I had it done, and I swear I sweat the ink right out. I haven't seen the new shop, other than a couple of shots on the website, but the old one was really clean and nice.
