  In a Jam. Damn.

  april wine is playing this friday, and i really wanted to go.

  my truck broke down, plus i'm working at my part-time job this friday night.. today, my fiance visited me during lunchhour and brought a surprise for me: 2 tickets to april wine.

  she put herself in a bit of a financial goof to get these tickets.

  True, someone who is in a bind over $20 tickets is not in a position to put down a fast food job. But when it comes to heart stuff, logic doesn't always make it all the way around.

  I suspect that if she put herself out seriously to buy tickets to a special show, her feelings would be hurt on some level, no matter for what job he turned it down. It's kind of like when a little kid offers candy to a grown-up, and the grown-up says 'no thank you.' Even if that grownup can explain to the child that he doesn't eat candy because it makes him sick, the kid will still feel sad, and may need extra hugs, or the chance to share something else.

  It's still a rejection on some level, and rejection always hurts, even if you know why. But Nos, you're a good guy who loves his girl. So I'm sure you'll find a way to make it up to her, and she will understand. In the end, if you went and lost your job (that you need right now) over this, she will feel way worse about that, than if you don't go to the show. Do what you have to do, it'll be fine.

  now, i know bassets are stubborn.

  i also know they have selective hearing and can give the impression of being downright stupid at times.

  ladybug, however, is really becoming a problem!

  Does Ladybug have water available all day long? If so she might not be capable of holding it all day. Also, you might try baby gates to give her an area a little larger than the crate. As she learns to be a "good girl" in the small penned-up area, you can move the gates to give a larger and larger area over time.

  Just a couple of little ideas.

  Yep, I'm with Stacy too, that's exactly how I would react.

  Rational? No. Realistic? Yes. Prepare for some MAJOR making up, and in the bedroom will not count on this one.

  "Landrew" vs "Borg"

  in classic star trek there was an episode entitled "the return of the archons" where the crew of the enterprise beamed down to a planet where the starship "archon" had last been reported, some time previously.

  they found themselves in a stagnated victorian era society of people going mindlessly about their business, rattling off platitudes like "peace be with you, friend" to passers by.

  the society turned out to be controlled by a supercomputer which had taken on the name (and projected image) of landrew (or landru), its creator some millennia previously.

  i have noticed that ever since he found out that i'm an xjw, my supervisor has declined all invitations to go eat where i would be included.

  it's no hair off my ass... he is the one imposing rules on himself.

  My Best Friends Still Love Me

  i had a talk with my best friend (who is still an active jw) the other day, and told her that i wasn't interested in remaining an active witness any more.

  i knew she would accept my feelings, because she's a wonderful person and is actually very emotionally healthy, but was afraid because i didn't really know how tight a grip the mind control had on her, and didn't know if she would feel obligated to back off in our friendship any.

  i was deeply afraid of that, because we're as close, if not closer than, sisters.. to my pleasant surprise, she not only totally accepted my feelings, but she already knew what i was going to say before i said it.

  Wow! ((((Piph)))) I'd love to talk to you about this sometime. My husband and I haven't "come out" yet to any of our family. I don't know when we will, we've been completely "inactive" for a year, but it sounds as if the situations might be similar otherwise. Hard thing to go through...

  Going through a painful Divorce

  just waiting for the final "decree absolute" to come through in the next 3 weeks or so.. but man why is it so hard, the final break.

  i really need this to be over so i can finally get on with the rest of my life.. .

  a couple of years ago i was part of an on-line writers group.

  a few of us got together and wrote an anthology of xmas stories called tales of christmas.. i wrote a story about my first xmas after leaving the dubs.

  the book is being published.
